Everything in my house is pink and green. 🌸🌲
It’s my favorite color combo.
So naturally, when people started messaging me and asking for #grimoiregirl merch for the holidays, I had to make sure these items fit into our home!
Thanks to my boys- Gus and @jeffreydeanmorgan – for helping mama with an impromptu photo shoot. Gus called dibs on my long sleeve shirt and Jeffrey has made off with my hat!! But the family that conjures together, stays together. Now off to pickup George who will surely be trying to steal my hoodie. 💖
Who are YOU gifting with magic this holiday season??

Feels like a good day to celebrate the hardworking folks out there fighting for justice. For my birthday on Monday, I’d asked for help raising money for the @tninnocence. I didn’t sleep at all Monday night. Left the house at 3:30 am to get to the airport. Caught a 5am flight. Landed in Nashville where @lizzy5445 picked me up, and we headed straight to Cookeville, where Greg Lance’s whole family had gathered. July 2nd was the day we’d been waiting for……for years. It was so nice to be with them, and nicer still to finally be with @rabiasquared2 in person! Rabia is who first introduced me to Greg’s wrongful conviction through her @undisclosedpodcast . She is goodness and tenacity and grace personified. Getting to watch @tninnocence and attorneys from @bassberrysims was such a powerful experience. Did I cry? Yes. They so thoughtfully laid out proof of Greg’s innocence. They anticipated every objection and had case law and clarifications ready to go. They operated with such passion and care. We heard from relatives and close confidants of the actual killers, all putting themselves at risk to defend Greg’s innocence. And we heard from forensic experts that could find no link between Greg and the murder weapon. It was a hot, emotional, hopeful day. And at the end, the judge commended Greg on how caring and devoted his whole circle was, and what a brilliant job this legal team did. Then I got to go eat birthday cake with @rabiaandellyn , who are dangerously fun! Make sure you tune into their podcast! It wasn’t until I got home yesterday that I saw we had blown past the initial fundraising goal of 1k for the @tninnocence . As of today, the 4th of July, you all have so generously raised over $3,000! These are fund that will go towards future fights for justice and freedom. A very happy #4thofjuly to all of you who contributed to this cause. I know we are going to bring Greg home. I believe in that truth. I hope we continue to work together to bring more innocent people home, and in the process, raise awareness as to how we can continually improve our judicial system. Thank you for all the kindness. 💖 @sundancetv @amc_tv @amcplus @ichhstories

Last night I got to be with a woman I love very much – @ahoffmanwriter , as she threw her 24th #pinkpages event!!! While driving to see her, I got a text that my daughter had lost her first tooth and accidentally swallowed it. “Tell her that’s how you become a witch!” Alice suggested when I relayed the story. Genius! Now I have to make sure this child doesn’t swallow all her teeth in a bid for unlimited power! Haha. But truly, it was an honor to meet so many of Alice’s friends last night and share the stage with authors I admire. @imaniperry @loislowrywriter @perrotta696 @hankpryan @allegragoodmanwriter #joycekulhawik . My deepest gratitude to @mountauburnhospital for the care in which they treat the women who come to them. Thank you for a magical evening Alice. You put so much good into the world. Xoxox

Call to arms!!! All I want for my birthday is justice!!! And if you wanna party with me, there are three ways to help!! 1. Buy your tickets – virtual or in person – for my birthday event with @rabiaandellyn at @citywinerynsh on July 2! 2. Support Greg Lance’s fight for justice. Learn about his case on our season 1 episode of @ichhstories and sign petitions, make calls and show up to let the Cookeville TN prosecutor’s office know that we believe in Greg’s innocence and that voters care about correcting errors of the past. 3. I’m a huge fan of @tninnocence and the work they are doing for so many wrongfully incarcerated people. If everyone makes a small donation? We can make a big splash for them and it would mean the world to me. Okay. That’s my plea. Sometimes things seem tough and dark, and by focusing on the good work that can be done if we all band together? It makes things significantly brighter. Xoxoxox H
October, October, October.
Some people feel love at Christmas. Some feel loved on their birthdays. For me? I feel loved and seen in October. Friends send me countless witchy cartoons or gifs or memes letting me know I’m on their minds, gifts arrive randomly in the mail, it’s the month I got married, my community comes together for sinister festivities.
This October in particular was MASSIVE. Kindness overflowed.
Grimoire Girl was written during a dark chapter of loss and confusion and I was frantically trying to hold on the the silver linings….the gorgeous, meaningful bits of life…the magic that makes it all worth it.
This last month, I got to experience damn near all of those silver linings in rapid succession.
I’ll try to remember it all, as much for myself as for anyone else. Because it is all worth remembering and recording.
@livekellyandmark being so supportive, @danneelackles512 and our book launch party with @mflibations ,

going home to Park View to honor my beloved teachers and donate over 40k to their PTSA,
heading to LA for press to launch the @ichhstories Podcast (subscribe now!!!),

Laughing with @thetalkcbs @enews @entertainmenttonight @ktla5news ,
racing home to put together our middle school haunted house with the BEST team of parents
…and finally trick or treating. 🔮
To those of you who held me up this month…this year…through this whole process? I love you. Simply and sincerely. Last night I came home to amazing packages from @angelaslatter (Thank you Angela!!) and my junior year History teacher Janet Dye as my very own Halloween Treat. Janet had written out her own Grimoire story, sewn a book cover for it and embroidered it. I cried like a baby.
Gratitude is the greatest magic of all. And I’m swimming in it. Xoxoxox
A flavor for everyone! When @hilarieburton came to town a couple weeks ago on her book tour she made time to hang at Buffalo Wing Factory with some other Park View High School alum. Fun fact… Hilarie worked for Buffalo Wing Factory when she was in high school.
Wing flavor she went with… Sweet & Smoky BBQ (paired with a blackberry Negroni made with @mflibations gin 😎)

@hilarieburton returns with Season 2 of ‘True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here,’ exploring murder cases in small American towns.
She discusses staying connected with the crime victims’ families: “I don’t ever want to be a one and done interview.”
My birthday is on Monday. So guess what I’m doing. 🍰 I’ll be flying to Nashville for a very important hearing in the Greg Lance case. If you’re unfamiliar, we covered his story on the first season of @ichhstories where I was fortunate enough to learn about Greg’s case from the brilliant @rabiasquared2 . Greg was convicted of a double homicide in a sloppy and corrupt investigation. And after the airing of our @sundancetv episode, multiple people have come forward to attest to Greg’s innocence. I remain committed to getting Greg out of prison, and so my birthday gift to myself is to finally meet up in person with Rabia to support the @tninnocence during this hearing. And for those of you who want to celebrate and advocate for justice with us???? @rabiaandellyn are doing a live show on July 2 that you better come to!!! Tickets are available at the @citywinerynsh website. This means a lot to our @ichhstories crew, so for my birthday I ask that you speak up, make calls, sign petitions, etc so that Greg can go home. We like to gently remind district attorneys that delayed justice is so much better than doubling down on injustice. We can all work together to create a more just justice system. https://citywinery.com/nashville/events/rabia-ellyn-solve-the-case-live-fj6hg8
Can’t make it to Nashville? WE GOT YOU!!! Livestream tix now available for purchase and we’ll be selling limited merch during the show that you can buy from the comfort of your couch!
