Michelle Obama Instagram – This #EarthDay, I’m thinking about young women like Brenda, who lives in Arusha, Tanzania—and like many, has been affected by the climate crisis. Every day, Brenda walks two hours to get water for her family, and sometimes she’s so exhausted from her journey that she can’t make it to school. Tanzania has faced droughts, and in recent weeks, severe flooding that has caused some schools to close. The changing climate has created a deep sense of uncertainty for her and her family. Fortunately, Brenda is supported by @creativeaction__’s Sauti ya Dada program. The program helps young women like her complete their education and learn more about the environment, providing a support system to help them navigate the challenges they’re facing in pursuit of an education.
