Following our travel to Egypt and the border of Gaza last week, today at the evidence meeting of the International Development Select Committee, we asked experts who work on the ground in Gaza to present their honest experiences of the appalling humanitarian situation.
We heard that it is estimated, aside from direct killing, that up to 86,000 people could die in the next six months due to disease, malnutrition and poor sanitation. There is only one latrine for 500 people. And last week, there were only 4 trucks of aid per day entering into Gaza – with current demand they need at least 500 a day.
This must end now. We need an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
