Swarnaa Rajalingam Instagram – our childhood was consumed with a lot of confusion and uncertainty. We spent a big part of it learning about thambi’s disability, understanding how it will impact his life and consequently ours (this is still a continued learning process). Understandably there was a lot of anxiety around what his future would be like and wondering if we will all be okay. It was a very isolating journey because as a community we don’t talk about disabilities or know how to help a family with someone who has a disability. Over the years we have learnt so much and it’s safe to say thambi surprises us every day with what a strong, resilient, happy bundle of joy that he is. We are so grateful for this life and have come to understand that the most important thing he needs is boundless amounts of LOVE 🤍 and the most important thing we need as a family is a village of people we can lean on for support. We will forever be so grateful to everyone who came into our lives, showed us so much compassion and continue to make this journey less lonely!
For any young families with a child being diagnosed with a disability or for those who have a family member with a disability I know it can be a very scary & daunting journey. But I want you to know you are not alone. Don’t be a stranger and reach out if you need. I wont have all the answers but I will definitely be able to understand. I trust our story gives you hope that it’s all going to be okay ❤️
