Alain Robert Instagram - As I was climbing the gt tower in Makati Philippines I got a real issue when I bumped my head and nearly lost my balance and for a split of second I have felt a very strong adrenaline discharge in my whole body . But this kind of situation has been rather common for me over the last 50 years climbing freesolo . More like before it wasn't documented as only the head camera can capture it and before it didn't exist . The fact that the lat two meters are impossible left me no other choices than to down climb the entire building that is rather dangerous as the aluminum slats are barely holding 50kg and they are only stapled on the surface of the building which made the ascent challenging as never really sure if I was not going to descent the entire building holding one of those slats . Alain Robert Instagram - Framatome is without a doubt the craziest and the hardest building I have ever climbed freesolo in my life knowing that there is absolutely no possible rest . it is a 180m vertical Crack running the entire surface of the building from bottom to top but most viciously on different occasions the Crack is narrowing on the inside making it nearly impossible to jam the tip of your feet as too narrow . However I did it successfully in August 1998 . if I was having to talk about a grade of difficulty as we are using on Rock I would be saying 5.13b or 8a but on my specific scale of difficulties for building from 1 to 10 it would be a 10 . Otherwise it's a complete game changer as with two Cracks it will be a lot easier . Mostelikely 3 to 4 levels lower in terms of difficulties and maybe only 5.11a or b . I climbed it in 1997 when I was at my best period . This building is really hard as the horizontal lips are very thin but also the vertical ones running the building from bottom to top and it is so tiny that it is impossible to jam the tip of one foot . Alain Robert Instagram - Framatome is mostelikely the hardest and most dangerous urban ascent I have done . it took me five years deciding wether I was going to do it or not and on the day snd after 30m I have had a bad feeling that it was not going to work and I have decided to climb down but after less than one meter I have understand that I couldn't. I had to fully refocus on to a fighter and I have decided that no matter I was going to make it alive and I have put all my strength into the battle . it was no longer a battle for a target but to live . I have encountered halfway through a major obstacle as the Crack was narrowing to a point that I nearly couldn't any longer jaming the tip of my foot but I finally made it and after a battle that roughly last 45mn I was standing at the top of what im still considering as the hardest building I have ever climbed freesolo . it was in 1998 . On my specific scale of difficulties from 1 to 10 that I have created only for buildings its a 10 as if using the grade as we are using on rocks it would be be 8a . Once again it's only a suggestion . Recently Adam Ondra has climbed a building top rope in Prague and it would be 8c/8c . I had to fully refocus on to a fighter and I have decided that no matter I was going to make it alive and I have put all my strength into the battle . it was no longer a battle for a target but to live . I have encountered halfway through a major obstacle as the Crack was narrowing to a point that I nearly couldn't any longer jaming the tip of my foot but I finally made it and after a battle that roughly last 45mn I was standing at the top of what im still considering as the hardest building I have ever climbed freesolo . it was in 1998 . On my specific scale of difficulties from 1 to 10 that I have created only for buildings its a 10 as if using the grade as we are using on rocks it would be be 8a . Once again it's only a suggestion . Recently Adam Ondra has climbed a building top rope in Prague and it would be 8c/8c .
