Allie Gonino Instagram - A moment to appreciate the work of art that is my #hair. Let’s talk about it! I haven’t always loved my hair. I’ve been through many an awkward phase, trying different cuts and color combos to learn what works for me. I used all different kinds of products, but now I think I’ve finally found my mane groove. First, I have to shout out the masters @prose! I’ve been using their #shampoo , #conditioner , and scalp mask for over a year, and have never been happier with the health, texture, and shine of my hair. #prosehaircare is designed specifically for your needs, so expect to fill out a lengthy questionnaire before ordering your products. But trust me, the time it takes and the investment is so worth it. And a little goes a long way with their products, so use conservatively. Their products are #vegan, and they use only natural botanicals and herbs to create exquisite, luxurious scents. I always go for the eucalyptus! I only use a detangling brush on my hair, and always start by gently brushing the ends, working my way to the scalp. I have a lot of hair, but it’s very fine so I have to be delicate with how I brush and handle it. I tend to towel dry, then let it air dry whenever possible to avoid frying my hair. I use cool/warm air when using a hairdryer, and lower heat with barrels to create the beachy waves I’m so fond of. And lastly, I’ve been working with the talented and wonderful colorist @chelseajaymes the past few years. She and my hair stylist @sabrina_lanasa_hair at @spokeandweal in #Nashville keep my luscious locks healthy and fresh to death!

I was feeling overwhelmed with emotion the other day thinking about releasing this collection of songs; reflecting on the recording process, where I was when I wrote each of them, and thinking about the pandemic and how, for a short while, I didn’t know if I’d live to see these recordings be released into the world. These past couple years especially has taught me the importance of slowing down, and that I will always find a way to make music that means something to me, whether I make money off it or not. I’ve listened to these songs thousands of times and still love them, and honestly am in awe and feel so deeply grateful that I get to make music at all, much less music I think is great. And I do. I do think it’s great. I wouldn’t have been able to execute this vision without my insanely talented and loyal producers, and mixer, @aarondudley, @dubkillermusic, and @studiohermit, who always give me exactly what I want, and often surprise me with their creativity and ideas. Having the creative freedom as an #indieartist made all the difference while recording, so I’m grateful to @p_kronenberger for trusting the vision, and agreeing to distribute the EP through his label, K-ent Records. Somehow, despite that I couldn’t understand much of what anyone was singing, I was even more moved than I had been after seeing it in New York before the pandemic. The performances, choreography, stage direction, translations, and live band were all so immaculate. This was my first live theater performance to attend since the lockdown - since my last time seeing ‘Hamilton’ - and the passion, joy, and release of years of anticipation, and hope were palpable. Knowing the artists had waited two years to give this performance, to debut a controversial and critically acclaimed work of art, in an entirely different language and country of origin - knowing how long so many of us felt suspended in time, not knowing the future of live theater - made this moment all the more emotionally satisfying. Allie Gonino Instagram - #ForeverUnfinished with @lucasfehring on @highlandsjam. Fun fact about this song, it started as a love letter to Josh Tillman, AKA @fatherjohnmisty. I love/hated the way he exposed me in his lyrics; it felt like love but in a way that kind of hurt. By verse two it evolved into a love letter to my husband-to-be — still yet to be cast in the movie that is my life — and in essence, is a song about the relationship between artists. Between musicians and songwriters, directors and screenwriters, poets and painters, chefs and actors, photographers and the muse, etc etc. How we fuel each other and we really need each other at the deepest, most sacred and human level, in order to keep going. #Art is the lifeblood of humanity. Allie Gonino Instagram - Narrowly a month into thirty-free and feeling freer than I have in a long time. I’ve learned so much in the past few years but I think the most important lesson is to stop waiting. To make the movie, to move to the new city, to start your own business, to work towards that dream job. Stop waiting for someone to choose you and choose yourself. Stop waiting to love yourself until someone else comes along. Stop waiting on that person who gives you just enough to hang on, but is actually fucking up your money, your self-worth, your mental state. Yeah they may be hot, rich, older (and seemingly wiser), claim to be Christian, or even famous! If they can’t communicate and be direct, and show respect for you, they ain’t shit. Full stop. When I pray I always pray for God to show me the truth. Even if it hurts. And sometimes I resist it. Who doesn’t love fantasy? But what He’s also shown me is myself. My worth. My value. And the depth and infinite world within me. And that’s freedom because now I don’t go looking for Heaven in others. I enjoy them for who they are, and walk away when I feel I have to betray myself in order to keep them in my life. The more I step into my sacred divinity as a woman who is sexual AND intellectual, sweet AND assertive, powerful AND flexible, soft AND strong, the more I embrace her - me - the more free I become. My soul is a candle flame and my job is to keep it lit.

Allie Gonino Instagram - Wrote this one during my first visit to @elcosmicomarfa several years ago with my mom. Her mother’s name was Geneva, who passed away before I was born. When we settled into our little trailer, I noticed the Bluetooth player was made by @genevalabofficial, and pointed it out to her. She’s always giving us little God winks when we’re sharing special memories together, which is pretty cool. My mom’s sister’s name was Jo. She died of brain cancer when she was just 43. This is an ode to them and all of us just trying to make our ways in the world. We’re all stars in our own rights. We’re quite literally stardust and water, in perpetual motion, even in stillness. Allie Gonino Instagram - This song was written as an exercise called #WhatWouldTaylorWrite? as a challenge to myself to write a song that @taylorswift might write 😋 After nearly losing my sanity last election cycle, I moved to Nashville, and was able to recalibrate and refocus on God and healing. Being back in the south naturally led me to be more focused on my relationship with Jesus, in a way that didn’t feel forced down my throat. My life has steadily become more and more peaceful since then, though not without grief, growing pains, challenges, and loneliness. However, what I’ve really come to find in my spiritual walk is this, and something my acting coach often reminds us in class: We focus on what’s important to us. While rights and policies and government are important, they cannot be more important to me than my day to day living. I cannot allow politicians and people who don’t see me to continue robbing me of my peace, my presence, my gifts, and responsibility to use those gifts to create art that will hopefully change the world. This season of life has been all about allowing God to pull me in, and in doing so, I have become far less emotionally destabilized by anything or anyone that doesn’t align. Accepting Grace has allowed me to extend Grace in ways I used to not be capable. I am blessed in my imperfection and enough in it. I am more focused on what is important and less on what I can’t control. I am at peace with slowing down and being more discerning and treating myself and my time with immense value. It’s a practice. We are much more powerful in our full light - scars, trauma, vulnerability and all - than in our hatred, anger, greed, jealousy, and self-righteousness. Taking a few moments before getting into bed, I wash my feet with water, and immediately feel gratitude for the clean running water in my home, and my strong little feet that have carried me through yet another day on planet Earth. Somehow, despite that I couldn’t understand much of what anyone was singing, I was even more moved than I had been after seeing it in New York before the pandemic. The performances, choreography, stage direction, translations, and live band were all so immaculate. This was my first live theater performance to attend since the lockdown - since my last time seeing ‘Hamilton’ - and the passion, joy, and release of years of anticipation, and hope were palpable. Knowing the artists had waited two years to give this performance, to debut a controversial and critically acclaimed work of art, in an entirely different language and country of origin - knowing how long so many of us felt suspended in time, not knowing the future of live theater - made this moment all the more emotionally satisfying. Somehow, despite that I couldn’t understand much of what anyone was singing, I was even more moved than I had been after seeing it in New York before the pandemic. The performances, choreography, stage direction, translations, and live band were all so immaculate. This was my first live theater performance to attend since the lockdown – since my last time seeing ‘Hamilton’ – and the passion, joy, and release of years of anticipation, and hope were palpable. To make the movie, to move to the new city, to start your own business, to work towards that dream job. Stop waiting for someone to choose you and choose yourself. Stop waiting on that person who gives you just enough to hang on, but is actually fucking up your money, your self-worth, your mental state. Yeah they may be hot, rich, older (and seemingly wiser), claim to be Christian, or even famous! If they can’t communicate and be direct, and show respect for you, they ain’t shit. Full stop. When I pray I always pray for God to show me the truth. Even if it hurts. And sometimes I resist it. Who doesn’t love fantasy? But what He’s also shown me is myself. My worth. My value. And the depth and infinite world within me. And that’s freedom because now I don’t go looking for Heaven in others. I enjoy them for who they are, and walk away when I feel I have to betray myself in order to keep them in my life. The more I step into my sacred divinity as a woman who is sexual AND intellectual, sweet AND assertive, powerful AND flexible, soft AND strong, the more I embrace her - me - the more free I become. My soul is a candle flame and my job is to keep it lit.

Being back in the south naturally led me to be more focused on my relationship with Jesus, in a way that didn’t feel forced down my throat. My life has steadily become more and more peaceful since then, though not without grief, growing pains, challenges, and loneliness. However, what I’ve really come to find in my spiritual walk is this, and something my acting coach often reminds us in class: We focus on what’s important to us. While rights and policies and government are important, they cannot be more important to me than my day to day living. I cannot allow politicians and people who don’t see me to continue robbing me of my peace, my presence, my gifts, and responsibility to use those gifts to create art that will hopefully change the world. This season of life has been all about allowing God to pull me in, and in doing so, I have become far less emotionally destabilized by anything or anyone that doesn’t align. Accepting Grace has allowed me to extend Grace in ways I used to not be capable. I am blessed in my imperfection and enough in it. I am more focused on what is important and less on what I can’t control. I am at peace with slowing down and being more discerning and treating myself and my time with immense value. It’s a practice. We are much more powerful in our full light - scars, trauma, vulnerability and all - than in our hatred, anger, greed, jealousy, and self-righteousness. Being back in the south naturally led me to be more focused on my relationship with Jesus, in a way that didn’t feel forced down my throat. My life has steadily become more and more peaceful since then, though not without grief, growing pains, challenges, and loneliness.
