We found an inspiring location and spent a limited few hours filming to a wild fav song, finding our story in each room. Go watch the full film now if you feel possessed to do so. Angela Trimbur Instagram - It’s Fiona Apple’s birthday and her music and perspective helped me through life more than any other musician decade after decade. A fav quote she said that I think of often is “if I respect myself and believe in what i’m doing, no one can touch me.” She made an album every decade since 96 and if you haven’t really dove into Fetch The Bolt Cutters yet I do think you should tho. Making this dance film as a love letter to her was a major sentimental tick on my life chart. So wild to have gone from laying on my teenage bedroom floor trying to memorize the exact timing of Fast As You Can to being a grown woman laying on a floor of a loft in the same position filming routines to songs from her 5th album~making a gift to give her as a thank you with the iconic Evan Rachel Wood who directed and is also obsessed. The way it all unfolded was wild and quite kismet and required trusting the universe had a plan as long as I didn’t go with something that didn’t feel like a level up to the loft I created in Brooklyn. They were gut tests!!! It led to something that was everything on my hope list truly. And on my 43rd birthday. Man, I feel like a woman. Angela Trimbur Instagram - 2 minutes of me saying a true final goodbye to my bushwick loft, my first grown up NY home. The place that was so fun to shape into an 80s dance studio playground, a place I choreographed at 3am at, a place I discovered my calling as a NY dance teacher, a place where I healed a lot of stuck pain alone via mushrooms and colored lights and solo dance with headphones as nearby loft party bass could be heard thru the windows and walls, a place I lived as a true single woman for 2.5 years. I love who I am single I wonder if I prefer it?? Well I have kids now (dogs) and they are the reason I wanted to leave the trash filled streets of industrial bushwick to offer them clean nature off-leash frolic park hours in iconic Manhattan. 🍎 My Manhattan chapter begins I do feel emotional but when doesn’t a change feel that way?? I learned a lot throughout time on building communities, and have grown into the person I am today, grateful for all the strange life hiccups that brought me to New York, where I can apply what I’ve learned and continue to grow as a person and a choreograher through community. I pinch myself that I was able to make my dance class message clear in this big city and do what I love with so many: boldly dance together without caring what others think and encourage others to give themselves permission, because who cares?!? The place that was so fun to shape into an 80s dance studio playground, a place I choreographed at 3am at, a place I discovered my calling as a NY dance teacher, a place where I healed a lot of stuck pain alone via mushrooms and colored lights and solo dance with headphones as nearby loft party bass could be heard thru the windows and walls, a place I lived as a true single woman for 2.5 years. I love who I am single I wonder if I prefer it??
