Caption : Today, in Iran, this woman was hanged. Samira Sabzian was a child bride, compelled into marriage with an older man who inflicted relentless abuse upon her. Her alleged crime—killing the man who forced her into marriage of torture—and her heinous execution epitomize a government that treats women worse than animals, persistently neglecting to establish legal protections for them. Without legal safeguards for women and girls in Iran, more will endure domestic and state violence while perpetrators go unpunished. We @ichri remain committed to seeking justice for Samira and all the girls and women of Iran. #StopExecutionsinIran #سمیرا_سبزیان RP• @centerforhumanrightsLikes : 1213

Caption : Fyi- at least 700 school girls have been poisoned by the government of Iran. These are the brave girls you saw in newsfeeds and headlines standing up and protesting against the government’s tyranny months ago. The fight is still on. The Islamic Republic makes sure everyone pays for going against them. It is way past time for regime change. RP• @centerforhumanrights A mother of a high school student who was poisoned by gas in her classroom was filmed being assaulted by plainclothes agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran in front of the 13th of Abdan school in Tehran on March 1. Girls in at least 26 more schools have reportedly been poisoned in just the last few days. This is after at least 700 have fallen ill from poisonings since November. The poisonings have resulted in many children being hospitalized with symptoms of fatigue, burning throats, nausea, headaches, and numbness in the body. Some victims have described fumes and strange smells, including odors of tangerines and cleaning agents. Parents and school staff are terrified. Today, a judge at the Criminal Court warned Sepideh that she could be facing more charges if she continues to appear in court without a hijab. This comes while she is already serving a two-year sentence under the charge of “insulting” the unelected “supreme leader” of the country. This new trial, occurring within the confines of her imprisonment, revolves around Sepideh’s accusation against a state TV reporter, alleging the reporter’s involvement with the state security apparatus. The session concluded with Qoliyan spitting at her accuser. Prior to the trial, she had made a resolute declaration that she would not participate in “the show court of the Islamic Republic,” drawing attention to the reality that trials involving individuals targeted by the state for political reasons in Iran are devoid of any semblance of due process. #SepidehQoliyan #Iran #WomensRights #FreeSpeech #UN #سپیده_قلیانLikes : 380

Caption : RP @centerforhumanrights We are profoundly saddened to report the passing of 16-year-old Armita Geravand, after she slipped into a coma following a reported assault by forced-hijab enforcers in the Tehran metro. Armita’s untimely death, from a brain injury, has left unanswered questions. According to eyewitness accounts reported in the media, she was attacked by enforcers of the state’s mandatory hijab law. Notably, moments before the incident, Armita was observed without a hijab. It is deeply concerning that Armita, who was carried unconscious out of the metro car, was transported to a military hospital and kept in strict isolation by Iranian authorities. We ask why the journalist who tried to investigate Armita’s case was initially detained? Equally puzzling is the appearance of Armita’s family on state media, where at one point, an unidentified woman spoke on their behalf, aligning with the state’s narrative that Armita’s death was due to natural causes. Additionally, the release of edited footage by the Islamic Republic’s government, which only reveals the train’s exterior while omitting the interior, deepens the enigma rather than providing clarity. Armita’s voice has been forever silenced, preventing us from hearing her story. Yet we do know that in a climate where Iranian authorities severely penalize women and girls for not adhering to the state’s forced-hijab law, Armita courageously appeared in public without one. By doing so, she stood in solidarity with the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, which was sparked by the killing of Mahsa Jina Amini in state custody, a mere three days after she was detained for an alleged hijab violation. Given the lack of transparency from Iranian authorities regarding Armita’s death, we urgently call upon the independent UN Fact-Finding Mission on Iran to conduct a thorough investigation into this case, and underscore an urgent imperative: As long as the Iranian government enforces its draconian mandatory hijab law, the lives of girls and women in Iran will hang in the balance, vulnerable to severe rights violations, including violence and even death. #ArmitaGeravand #Iran #آرمیتا_گراوندLikes : 354

The committee reports that in recent weeks, Fatemeh has lost more than 30 pounds and experienced abdominal bleeding since May 13. Political prisoners in Iran including elderly inmates are singled out for harsh treatment, which often includes denial of medical care. The threat of withheld medical care has also been used as an intimidation tool against prisoners who have challenged the authorities or filed complaints.

Caption : RP• @centerforhumanrights The surging executions of political prisoners in Iran are part of a state campaign deployed to crush dissent, and should be met with strong action by the international community, said the Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI). A child was among those hanged this week in Iran, in violation of the absolute prohibition against the execution of juveniles under international law. “The hanging of political prisoners and children reflects the violent and unlawful lengths the Iranian authorities will go to sow fear and crush dissent,” said CHRI Executive Director Hadi Ghaemi. “World leaders must warn the Iranian authorities that they must immediately cease these executions, particularly of minors, or risk severe political and economic consequences,” Ghaemi added. This week’s executions included the case of 17-year-old Hamidreza Azari in Sabzevar Prison, accused of murder. He was 16 at the time of the alleged crime. His execution stands in direct violation of Iran’s commitments under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, explicitly prohibiting executions for crimes committed before the age of eighteen. The Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the very few countries in the world that continue to execute juveniles. Moreover, it typically carries out these executions after severe violations of due process and fair trial rights. CHRI urges global leaders to intensify pressure on the Islamic Republic and demand an immediate halt to these unlawful and escalating executions of minors and political prisoners. Read and share our new report (www.iranhumanrights.org, link in bio) and call on world leaders to act now. #StopExecutionsinIran #Iran #HumanRights #deathpenalty #ایرانLikes : 298

The murders of this illustrious director and his wife in Iran this past weekend transpired within this larger context and against the backdrop of several enigmatic deaths among Iranian cinema figures in the past year. After killing hundreds of street protesters, including children and women, and arresting tens of thousands for peacefully demanding “Woman, Life, Freedom…” After standing by as high school girls were gassed in class following their presence in the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement…” President Ebrahim Raisi’s government will soon submit a bill to parliament proposing “non-physical” punishments against women who do not observe the forced-hijab. “… [Punishments include] monetary fines ranging from 500,000 to three billion tomans ($50 to $60,000 based on current exchange rate), revoking driver’s license and passport, and imposing a ban on the use of the internet for celebrities and those who have channels and websites with high memberships,” said Hossein Jalali, a member of Parliament of Rafsanjan.

Caption : RP• @centerforhumanrights “Why were you smiling when you shot me?” Ghazal Ranjkesh, a law student from Bandar Abbas, Iran, is among hundreds of people who’ve been shot in the eyes by Islamic Republic forces deployed to crush anti-state protests. “The shooter didn’t know I’m bulletproof,” Ghazal wrote in a defiant message on Instagram. “He didn’t know that my soul and body are more than that.” In a letter, more than a hundred ophthalmologists warned in November 2022 that Islamic Republic forces’ use of birdshots and projectile weapons against street protesters are causing “severe eye injuries” and “irreparable consequences,” including “the loss of one or both eyes.” According to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), to which Iran is a party, everyone has the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. According to the UN Basic Principles on the Use of Force and Firearms by Law Enforcement Officials, law enforcement officers may use force only when strictly necessary and to the extent required to achieve a legitimate policing objective. Yet Ghazal, like countless other Iranians killed or maimed by state forces in recent months, was simply walking in the street. Her case is among hundreds of deliberate use of force cases against unarmed individuals that should be investigated by the UN Human Rights Council’s Iran-focused fact-finding mission, which was set up to compile evidence of human rights violations and atrocities committed by Islamic Republic forces since September, and to hold Iranian authorities accountable.

Iranian authorities are using the death penalty to silence peaceful dissent, and over 10 people are being put to death each week in Iran, according to the UN, making it “one the world’s highest executors.” The Center for Human Rights for Iran recently sent a letter to 75 governments around the world, calling on world leaders to increase pressure on the Islamic Repiublic to halt their executions.

University students and professors in Iran are facing arrests, banishments and expulsions in a renewed state crackdown on their right to peacefully criticize state policies. Finally, after authorities refused to search for her, her body was discovered with a bullet in it, reports the University Students Trade Unions Council. On December 7, Farhadi had attended protests by fellow students to mark Students Day, during which she got into verbal confrontations with members of the paramilitary Basij force. She called her mother to say she was meeting a friend at 9 p.m. She also made an unsuccessful call to her father at 10 p.m. There were no contact attempts by her after that. Farhadi’s family traced Donya’s phone to a point by the Karun River and saw traces of blood on the ground. For four days, security officials refused to allow divers to search the river. Finally, fishermen found Donya’s body, with a bullet in it.

No Iranian official has been held accountable; instead, Iranian authorities have been persecuting local Friday prayer leaders who have spoken out against the killings.

Caption : RP• @ninaansary Serious concern for beloved Iranian rapper and powerful voice of the Iran Revolution over sham trial which took place yesterday behind closed doors. His fate lies in the hands of a corrupt and tyrannical system as the court considers a verdict and a possible death sentence. Salehi was arrested November 30th, 2022 amid nationwide protests that erupted following the brutal killing of Mahsa Jina Amini by the regime’s security apparatus. Please share his story and raise awareness. @toomajofficial #toomajsalehi #freetoomajLikes : 139

Caption : RP• @centerforhumanrights Reza Khandan, the husband of renowned human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh, has been summoned to report to Evin Prison in Tehran within 30 days to serve a six-year prison sentence issued against him on sham charges in 2018. Khandan and former political prisoner and civil rights activist Farhad Meysami were both sentenced to prison in 2018 for calling for women to have a right to wear a hijab, at a time when Khandan’s wife, defense attorney Nasrin Sotoudeh, was in jail for defending anti-compulsory-hijab protesters in court. Last week, Sotoudeh, who is on medical furlough from her own unjust prison sentence, told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour that she feared for her family’s security but couldn’t be silent while protesters and her friends suffered in Iranian prisons. Now her fear has come true. The Islamic Republic is going after Sotoudeh’s family to force her to be silent—because it trembles at the power of her voice. Don’t believe the Islamic Republic’s PR ploy about releasing prisoners. Iran’s prisons have revolving doors when it comes to political prisoners; they are simply making room for new prisoners. Please speak out for Reza with hashtag #FreeRezaKhandan and #FreeThemAll.

Caption : RP• @centerforhumanrights A powerful message of solidarity by one rapper turned political prisoner in Iran to another was posted on the official Twitter account of Toomaj Salehi today in Persian, which translates to: “By transferring the artist and singer Saman Yasin to the psychiatric hospital, the Islamic Republic intends to carry out a silent murder. Saman has been subjected to severe torture since the beginning of his detention, denied the right to have his chosen lawyer, and all the charges against him are based on the fabrications of the security establishment. Saman is an artist that belongs to this land and must be freed.” A judge notorious for using the judicial system to crush dissent in Iran, Abolqasem Salavati, sent Yasin to a psychiatric hospital this week shortly after he publicly demanded justice in his case. Yasin was previously sentenced to death in connection with anti-state protests and is in grave danger now that his case review is being handled by Salavati. Meanwhile, Toomaj, who was also in danger of being sentenced to death, was earlier this month condemned to serving six years in jail. The only “crime” the rappers committed was engaging in freedom of speech. Too late to assist many who died under rubble and not enough to help millions in need. The UN must immediately open more cross-border aid routes from Turkey to Syria.Likes : 131

He’s been tortured, which has led to him sustaining serious injuries. His crime? Using his music to be a voice for the people of Iran. His lyrics speak of the injustice and oppression of the Islamic Regime. He has been charged with crimes related to his music, and protesting, that carry the death sentence. He is at risk of execution for standing up for his people. Can you imagine if the U.S. Government threw Pac, NWA, or Childish Gambino in jail for their lyrics calling out injustice in America? Or for speaking out and marching in solidarity with their people? Please share, be his voice, and help save Toomaj’s life.
