To be honest, I don’t know if I have a favorite part, because I love it all. I can say, though, that the moment I walk into a blank slate of a property is definitely top 3. Everyone around me might only see a construction zone, but I see the potential of what it could be. My mind is moving staircases, knocking down walls and installing stone adorned fireplaces. Caption : Raising babies and toddlers is an experience; any mom will tell you that. The first couple of years they call the “terrible” 2’s. The thing is, age 3 can be just as tough! Toddlers are coming into their own awareness and wanting to test their independence, which can be very trying for moms. The years get progressively easier, so if you’re a mom going through the “terrible” or “tough,” know that you have what it takes to raise curious, developing kids. Though this space has brass accents, I love this faucet in black and the way it plays so well against the stone with those complementing shades. If you’re not ready to commit to full on black, consider a darker bronze. It will give you the same richness and contrast. Caption : Are you a good swimmer? Are your kiddos? It’s hard to believe these are the same kids who needed floaties and pep talks before hopping in the water. Now they’re swimming pros, and one is even a regular surfer! I will never regret all of the swimming lessons and water safety courses. Some parents worry about the day their kids start driving. I think about the day these two are driving a boat without me! We will always live near the ocean (whether U.S. or abroad), so comfort with and in water is a big deal around here. As many of you know, I spend a great deal of time advocating for the girls and women in Kenya—both in the field (on the actual continent of Africa) and here in the States through various fundraising and educational efforts. A short time ago we took our cause to Capitol Hill where we laid everything before the lawmakers of our country. We told them the firsthand stories of the girls in single digits who were forced to undergo FGM and be married as children. We will NOT stop until every girl has the opportunity to live a life free of this harmful practice. My heart beats for these young women. Caption : If you visit Ibiza, you’ll likely see the red cherry logo or sculptures *somewhere*. The famous cherries are all about Pacha Ibiza (@pachaofficial) , one of the most well known nightclubs in the area. People have always given me strange looks when I tell them I regularly take my little kids to Ibiza. I think they picture non stop partying with nothing but scantily-clad adults. Well, there’s a bit of that too. However, one of the things I’ve always loved about Ibiza is how kid-friendly the island is! We go to dinner and the DJ is playing, the kids are dancing and the adults are loving life. Ibiza is a sort of choose-your-own-adventure kind of getaway, and we always have an amazing time. Caption : Tapping into the importance of “home” is what I do as a designer. Partnering with @habitatforhumanity, an organization that understands home ownership is the key to so many families’ stability and inter-generational wealth, was organic. #HomeIsTheKey is all about the impact affordable housing has on building equity in wealth, education, health, and opportunity through homeownership! That’s something we can all get behind. The chance to own a home is life-changing, and there’s no better feeling than making your space feel tailored to your lifestyle. I’m in the process of completing my own home, and I thought I’d give you a few tips on decorating your spaces without exorbitant price tags. First, prioritize. Need a space for the kids more than a dining room? Nothing wrong with that! The decisions you make should reflect your needs and wants. Next, nix perfection! If you don’t have all the furniture when you first move in, don’t be afraid to improvise with things like baskets, rolling racks or hampers for storage. Finally, lean into colors that bring out the best in your space and the way you feel when you interact with it! For me, that’s using fun prints and patterns with wallpaper and fabrics. When we were creating these masterpieces, I immediately began to picture how they would and could work together in such unique configurations. Caption : Memories held within this photo are hard. That smile makes holding both of my children—alone—look so effortless, even though they collectively were more than what was physically comfortable. My face only camouflaged what was an extremely difficult time for me. Even the shades hid the fact that I literally had no time for makeup…or much else. It was such a challenging Thanksgiving holiday. I was surrounded by friends and family, but I felt so alone. The harsh reality of becoming the head of my own household came swiftly and without choice. It wasn’t the hand I wanted, but it was the hand I was dealt. Nevertheless, I refused to let circumstances take me or my family down. The tenacity of a woman and mother will always triumph, and I am proof of that today.Likes : 3

Caption : Is there such a thing as “too much” in interior design? Absolutely. Unless you’re going for a maximalist vibe, having too much of a color or texture can oftentimes feel imbalanced visually. There is an exception, though: greenery! I say you can never have enough plants and foliage, even faux ones, in the home. Greenery connects the inside to the outside in such a harmonious way.
