Brittany Allen Instagram - Had the great fortune to be a part of a very fun show the last few months, on the other side of the camera again, as Annabelle in @netflix ‘s upcoming #Grendel . Sometimes characters come along and you just understand them right away and think to yourself how much fun it would be to inhabit them, and in this case, I got the chance to. It’s been a pleasure working with the entire cast, crew and creative team. Very grateful and can’t wait for everyone to see it! (Second photo documents my hoarding/nesting style perfectly, captured when, upon returning to the green room, I noticed every other chair was tidy and bare, except for the one I sat in.)

Brittany Allen Instagram - Yesterday, news broke that Netflix cancelled Grendel, a show for which an entire season had already been shot and that didn’t get the chance to air. I feel for Matt Wagner, the creator of the Grendel comic, who was beyond excited to have the world that he has built over many years be shown on the screen, and whose weekly motivational emails to the team were a light to start every Monday with. I feel for Abubakr Ali, who was to be the first Arab Muslim superhero with this role, & who gave every ounce of himself day in & day out, physically, emotionally, mentally, and who was also THE MOST gracious and kind “number one” on any set I have ever been on. I feel for every crew member, who arrived on set well before I did, and stayed long after I’d left, for six months, in the cold and the rain and the dark of Vancouver winter, and who somehow, in their exhaustion, jumped up whenever needed, put the extra touch towards their craft, not just because it was their “job” but because they loved telling stories, and they were passionate about telling this one. I feel for the creative team who gave themselves to this project. For myself — I played an opportunistic thief who gets famous off the back of someone else’s hard work… I thank the producers for casting me - this role was a joy to sink my teeth into, and the experience reminded me of how much I love acting — it had been a minute since I’d been on set for The Boys.  I’m grateful for the memories, and the story I got to step inside. But it is a shame that the hard work put in by so many talented people won’t likely see the light of day. (@amazonstudios ? Where you at?) This feels like a dangerous precedent that these massive companies are setting, first with HBO Max cancelling a 90 million dollar Batgirl movie and now with Netflix cancelling a 50 million dollar TV series after both had already been shot. The amount of work gone into something of this magnitude, only to be discarded like trash, has to be a symptom of corporate greed. We didn’t sign up to pour our hearts and souls into your tax write off!  This series was set in the 90s, and it was a thrill to return to that decade, when Blockbuster reigned supreme.

I don’t think words can do justice to the incredible spirit he was on this earth but... I’ll try. He was my partner on so many adventures, from the deserts of California, to the forests of BC, and all the roads and ocean in between; from the woods of Muskoka to the streets of Toronto, to the Las Vegas strip, and the many plane rides / boat trips / car drives with his head out the window, soaking up allllll the smells, from one side of the continent to the other. He was my first baby, and his grace and love patience and acceptance with our second rescue Kobe, and then Sparrow, my first human baby, was a testament to his kind gentle wise heart that I still feel with us now. I will miss him always. Mister lived life to the fullest, and I have peace in knowing that, because that’s all we can really hope for in this life that is finite for us all. Brittany Allen Instagram - LA animal lovers ❤️ Colin and I found this darling little six-year-old Chihuahua mix burrowed in dirt at the side of the road, having been hit by a car days earlier. She had basically given up on life. Prior to that we heard she had been seen with a homeless person who had abandoned her. Before then, we don’t know, but I get the impression she was a mama to many dogs in her past. But she trusted us to gently put her in our car, and bring her to an emergency vet. They found multiple breaks in her femur, fractures in her left hip, and the surgery to fix / potentially amputate her one leg is now set for Monday. She is TRULY a sweetheart. Sooo gentle and kind and quiet, has shown zero aggression to anyone even though she is navigating this pain, and right now, she doesn’t move much from this bed. Brittany Allen Instagram - LA animal lovers ❤️ Colin and I found this darling little six-year-old Chihuahua mix burrowed in dirt at the side of the road, having been hit by a car days earlier. She had basically given up on life. Prior to that we heard she had been seen with a homeless person who had abandoned her. Before then, we don’t know, but I get the impression she was a mama to many dogs in her past. But she trusted us to gently put her in our car, and bring her to an emergency vet. They found multiple breaks in her femur, fractures in her left hip, and the surgery to fix / potentially amputate her one leg is now set for Monday. She is TRULY a sweetheart. Sooo gentle and kind and quiet, has shown zero aggression to anyone even though she is navigating this pain, and right now, she doesn’t move much from this bed. I feel for Matt Wagner, the creator of the Grendel comic, who was beyond excited to have the world that he has built over many years be shown on the screen, and whose weekly motivational emails to the team were a light to start every Monday with. I feel for Abubakr Ali, who was to be the first Arab Muslim superhero with this role, & who gave every ounce of himself day in & day out, physically, emotionally, mentally, and who was also THE MOST gracious and kind “number one” on any set I have ever been on. I feel for every crew member, who arrived on set well before I did, and stayed long after I’d left, for six months, in the cold and the rain and the dark of Vancouver winter, and who somehow, in their exhaustion, jumped up whenever needed, put the extra touch towards their craft, not just because it was their “job” but because they loved telling stories, and they were passionate about telling this one. I feel for the creative team who gave themselves to this project. For myself — I played an opportunistic thief who gets famous off the back of someone else’s hard work… I thank the producers for casting me - this role was a joy to sink my teeth into, and the experience reminded me of how much I love acting — it had been a minute since I’d been on set for The Boys.  I’m grateful for the memories, and the story I got to step inside. But it is a shame that the hard work put in by so many talented people won’t likely see the light of day. (@amazonstudios ? Where you at?) This feels like a dangerous precedent that these massive companies are setting, first with HBO Max cancelling a 90 million dollar Batgirl movie and now with Netflix cancelling a 50 million dollar TV series after both had already been shot. The amount of work gone into something of this magnitude, only to be discarded like trash, has to be a symptom of corporate greed. We didn’t sign up to pour our hearts and souls into your tax write off!  This series was set in the 90s, and it was a thrill to return to that decade, when Blockbuster reigned supreme.

She had basically given up on life. Prior to that we heard she had been seen with a homeless person who had abandoned her. Before then, we don’t know, but I get the impression she was a mama to many dogs in her past. But she trusted us to gently put her in our car, and bring her to an emergency vet. They found multiple breaks in her femur, fractures in her left hip, and the surgery to fix / potentially amputate her one leg is now set for Monday. She is TRULY a sweetheart. Sooo gentle and kind and quiet, has shown zero aggression to anyone even though she is navigating this pain, and right now, she doesn’t move much from this bed. After Monday, it will be a month or so of recovery, in a pen, cozy, inside somewhere. @dogswithoutborders will be helping and will provide a foster parent with the pen, pee pads, food, etc, and it will just be about giving her love, reassurance, food and medication, and keeping her quiet until she regains her strength. I’m at a kind neighbour’s house in the meantime with her, but we are looking for someone who can step in as early as today, to help this little girl out. Even if you have availability for just the next few nights, or if you are able to commit to her entire recovery, please message me, and share to those who come to mind. She’s a special little heart and needs someone whose heart can open wide for her too. ☺️☺️ Again - this is just a temporary foster situation, so any help / commitment of time is needed and sought. Thanks. ❤️
