Chelsea Rebecca Instagram - The ongoing saga of my engagement ring, or: why I haven't posted pictures of it yet! James proposed with my great-grandmother's ring that I literally found in a box in my basement in Michigan a few years ago and fell in LOVE with. It's art deco, so 1920sish, and it was in need of a TON of restoration work. We ultimately were unhappy with the current restoration and took it to another jeweler who specializes in antiques. Turns out this thing is just so damn old that aside from the badly done restoration, it wouldn't be stable enough to last much longer anyway. This new jeweler is actually making a recreation of how the ring would have originally looked in the 1920s, so I can keep the old one for sentiment and wear an identical version that won't crumble to bits! I can't WAIT to share pictures of the finished ring. So, for now, here is my great-grandmother's ring the day we got engaged!

Chelsea Rebecca Instagram - The last of the Persephone series I shot with @anetherealfire, with Persephone ascending to the throne of Hades. I can't say enough nice things about working with Chris. He truly makes EVERYONE he photographs look otherworldly. Back when I was cosplaying, I'd always be so dismayed to find a photographer whose work was very good, but who only photographed a certain "type" of beauty. It always felt like you had to pass a certain bar to be worthy of being photographed- I love cosplay, but did not love this aspect of it. Any insecurities you may have, any feeling that you may not "deserve" a full on glamor shoot of yourself- those reservations just do not exist in the heavenly realms of Chris's studio. If you look at his other work, EVERYONE looks absolutely incredible. The same amount of care is put into every single picture, and every single subject looks like *they* set the beauty standard for the world their photos take place in. He is so gifted at capturing everyone at their most radiant. So bittersweet to not get any more new photos from this set ā¤ļø I will truly cherish them forever.

Chelsea Rebecca Instagram - A @makeawishamerica dream come true in so many ways! We were so happy to host @space_captain_carswell and their family at the Dead Meat home/studio, and in return, we fell so in love with a family that we now cherish as dear friends. I love how much horror has helped this family through difficult times- I never thought about how gore and body horror could make surgeries and medical procedures feel less alien, but it makes so much sense. It's another reason why this genre is truly such a special one. Carswell is currently studying film, and they're going to be a creative force to be reckoned with. Keep a lookout šŸ‘€

Basically the gist of it is that James proposed with my great-grandma's ring, and the restoration done on it was...not great. After we got engaged, we took it to @foxfinejewelry who suggested we get it completely remade instead. I've been ringless for a few months and WOW has it been worth the wait. George Fox at Fox Fine Jewelry did such a stunning job recreating what this ring would have looked like back in the 1920s, putting details back in I would have never known existed. I'd trust him & his store with ANY piece I owned after seeing his work. I'm just over the moon. Please give their store a follow. They are family-owned and place so much importance on the artistry involved in jewelry. I can't wait to post more pics, especially before and after!

James proposed with my great-grandmother's ring that I literally found in a box in my basement in Michigan a few years ago and fell in LOVE with. It's art deco, so 1920sish, and it was in need of a TON of restoration work. We ultimately were unhappy with the current restoration and took it to another jeweler who specializes in antiques. Turns out this thing is just so damn old that aside from the badly done restoration, it wouldn't be stable enough to last much longer anyway. This new jeweler is actually making a recreation of how the ring would have originally looked in the 1920s, so I can keep the old one for sentiment and wear an identical version that won't crumble to bits! I can't WAIT to share pictures of the finished ring. So, for now, here is my great-grandmother's ring the day we got engaged!

I can't say enough nice things about working with Chris. He truly makes EVERYONE he photographs look otherworldly. Back when I was cosplaying, I'd always be so dismayed to find a photographer whose work was very good, but who only photographed a certain "type" of beauty. It always felt like you had to pass a certain bar to be worthy of being photographed- I love cosplay, but did not love this aspect of it. Any insecurities you may have, any feeling that you may not "deserve" a full on glamor shoot of yourself- those reservations just do not exist in the heavenly realms of Chris's studio. If you look at his other work, EVERYONE looks absolutely incredible. The same amount of care is put into every single picture, and every single subject looks like *they* set the beauty standard for the world their photos take place in. He is so gifted at capturing everyone at their most radiant. So bittersweet to not get any more new photos from this set ā¤ļø I will truly cherish them forever.
