Chris Bath Instagram - I never worked with him, in fact I always worked at the opposition network in Sydney. But I’ll never forget the day he made a beeline for me at a funeral (of all places) & blew me away with his praise & kind words of encouragement & then his sense of humour. I spent my childhood with him in my lounge room telling me everything I needed to know (never imagining I might try to do the same when I grew up), so that day, as we mourned a much loved colleague was the ultimate personal “Brian told me so” moment, & so very special to me. Vale & thank you Mr Henderson.
Chris Bath Instagram - My Dad didn’t want a funeral, didn’t want the “hoo ha”, he said. At the risk of having him haunt me forever, which I wouldn’t mind because I’d really like to have him around, I’m posting this because celebrating the dead is for the living, & there are so many people who will read this who also loved him. Dad was a people person. He loved people and people loved him. He was one of those Dads that all your friends loved, one of those magic people with a gift for effortlessly making other people feel good. He wasn’t loud. Dad was just quietly, effortlessly funny, a larrikin energy tractor beam that drew in anyone in his orbit. He would’ve killed it in show business but he was a draftsman by trade who ended up a precast concrete guru, the son of a welder & a machinist (who had to give up work once she married 🤦🏻‍♀️). The thing is, when Dad had two girls of his own, and lived in a house with three women (interesting during teenage years, he used to say, as we all “cycled” together), he was never sexist. We grew up thinking we could do anything because he told us so. I’d hang out with Dad in the garage learning to use tools, how to mow & edge the lawn perfectly and wash the car. Terrified, I’d cling to his much loved Hobie Cat as he taught me to sail, pretending I loved hooning at breakneck speed across Toowoon Bay and heading out to sea, just to be near him. Dancing concerts probably evened up the terror score - more like an endurance event for Dad, he’d sit at Parramatta Town Hall, tortured for hours, just to see his girls on stage for a poofteenth of a second. I always wonder if in those moments he regretted working so hard with Mum, to give us the opportunities they never had.
Of course, it wasn’t all roses. Early boyfriends sometimes created “issues” for Dad, but then later on in my early 20”s, after an absolutely disastrous experience…

Chris Bath Instagram - We became mates when we worked together during the Sydney Olympics as she gave a 7 months preggers me impending first time motherhood advice (as a veteran mother of two). Now @johgriggs7 is about to embark on another @olympics & @ausparalympics broadcast, with an unconventional prep & covid complicated production set up, beginning with the Tokyo Opening Ceremony tonight. Regardless of the covidness of it all, @johgriggs7 is the most prepared, researched Olympic commentator I’ve ever worked with. She’s passionate about athletes and what it takes to be an Olympian & Paralympian & respects their achievements by knowing everything she can about them. Go nail it as usual Thelma! We’ll be watching in awe. With love Louise xxx
Chris Bath Instagram - Trying to pluck up the courage to watch “The Newsreader” @abctv & wondering how accurate it might be. And then the husband arrives home with this - salvaged from the destruction of regional television news by metropolitan centralisation & “commercial reality”. I was lucky enough to work in regional TV in Albury and Newcastle. And I still believe that a vibrant local media is incredibly important to regional areas to tell local stories with local knowledge and local empathy. Those years in regional telly taught me many valuable lessons in front of a forgiving audience & I’ll always be grateful for it but….. here’s proof I worked too close to the last gasp of the ‘80’s. Thank you @nbnnews (where this pic is from) & so many wonderful people who worked there like @craigsidell & @david_threlfo for making me a better journo
Chris Bath Instagram - About last night….
He’ll kill me but so worth it.

Chris Bath Instagram - Thank you so much for your beautiful messages about Dad. It means a lot to me & my family, especially Mum who spent so many years caring for Dad. I also need to thank the amazing staff at McQuoin Park who cared for Dad for almost a year & when the end came, treated all of us so gently, along with a Geriatrician angel who appeared, Dr Alexandra Annesley who I wish we’d known Dad’s entire medical life instead of for a brief moment at the end 🙏🏻
Chris Bath Instagram - Husband of the Year bought me a new toy 🚜

Chris Bath Instagram - So yesterday this happened & I finally got to say thank you for the amazing job she did 20 years ago. On September 11, 2001, I had gone to bed early, preparing for my ten month old nocturnal party animal to wake me up at least five times, when the phone rang. I picked up, half asleep, & my executive producer @sabra.lane 🙌🏻 from the Sunday political interview show I then worked on said: “Sorry to wake you. Get out of bed and turn on the TV” & hung up. So like thousands of Australians I sat horrified with tears rolling down my cheeks watching @shortblack_ & wondering what sort of world I was bringing our baby boy into. And there was Sandra, watching it unfold too, processing it with the same shock as the rest of us but working live on air delivering the news to us all with none of the resources that television production teams have today for rolling coverage. Knowing what she must’ve been facing at a purely professional level, in the horror of it all, I was in awe of what she was doing and remain so to this day. You were incredible that night Sul. It’s a mark of the amazing human you are ❤️And thanks to the very excellent face fairy @kim_anderson1 for the pic

Chris Bath Instagram - Still not quite sure who I think I am (sadly not the long lost Tuscan Princess I’d hoped to be), but thanks to the outstanding researchers & crew of “Who Do You Think You Are?”, you can watch me trying to find out at 7.30pm tomorrow @sbs_australia @sbsondemand It’ll be the first time I see it too but I suspect you’ll also see many reasons why I shouldn’t be trusted to do my own hair and makeup
Chris Bath Instagram - “Who Do You Think You Are?” returns to @sbs_australia on June 8 at 7.30pm & thanks to the fabulous production crew (#swipeleft) I spent two socially distanced weeks with last November, I now can explain why regional & wild Australia resonates so much with me, which is something I never fully understood until now. I was hoping to uncover an ancestral home in Tuscany but Covid meant we couldn’t travel overseas to find that side of the family (that’s for another episode one day) 😜 It was an amazing experience nonetheless on so many levels, from working with the magnificent production crew, which included one of Australia’s most talented directors & post EP’s Tinzar Lwyn & DOP’s Luke Peterson @creativeimmersion , to finding out things about my ancestors that I never knew. I cannot wait to see whether I am crying through the entire episode that I’m in, because there were lots of tears! But it’s a wonderful series & big thanks to SBS for asking me to be part of it 🙏🏻

Chris Bath Instagram - Happy birthday to the Vaseline Petroleum Jelly Prince of 1970. He’s an absolute champion of a human - a giant man with a giant, generous heart & back in October 1970, they already knew it 🥳❤️

Chris Bath Instagram - Imagine this little girl’s delight (I mean, look at her face) being cuddled by this giant human after we found her this morning, wandering alone & injured on our hill, then picked her up in some old towels & popped her in an esky before calling the amazing Roz and Kev from @wombatrescue who reckon she’ll make a full recovery in their care & return to our hill to have a lovely life. 🙏🏻🙌🏻

Chris Bath Instagram - Love me a misty Sunday morning far from the madding crowd. Why does fog enhance the birdsong? And how about the green “lawn”, so insanely different to our last few years at #birdnerdsrusfarm #nofilter
Chris Bath Instagram - Sooooo proud of The Husband. While I was at work on Sunday, he caught his first swarm, with zero experience & zero idea of what he was doing, despite his fear of bees. He dialled 1800 @johgriggs7 for advice because he didn’t want to bother me & off he went on his own & caught them 👊🏻 #accidentalbeekeeper #gojimmygo #birdnerdsrusfarm 🐝

Chris Bath Instagram - Every time I have the honour of emceeing the @nswpolicelegacy #blueribbonball I meet incredible people like Senior Constable Margaret Richardson. Margie lost her husband Sergeant Geoffrey Richardson as he tried to assist colleagues apprehending a criminal. She says telling their seven year old son that his Daddy was never coming home is the hardest thing she’s ever had to do. His five month old brother was too young to understand. You could’ve heard a pin drop as Margie told 800 people her story & what happened when NSW Police Legacy stepped in to help. Thank you to everyone who donated or bought a table or sponsored tonight’s fundraiser, the first in two years (thanks Covid 🙄) And thanks to Margie for making people rip open their wallets 🙌🏻 then dance & sing & mingle to tunes from the actually live on stage, awesome @nswpolice band featuring the magnificent Belinda Parsons on vocals.

Chris Bath Instagram - #repost Reposting this to showcase the brilliance of @gisellepeacock whose small business @gpowerdf is still recovering from Covid. Giselle is a world champion Latin dancer & a world champion human being. The pandemic shut down her small studio & with zero tech expertise, she went on line. I was overjoyed to find her in cyberspace after attending her classes at Sydney Dance Company a decade before. Even though she’s a world champ, Giselle can make anyone, from her brilliant young students to this middle aged wannabe, feel good about just letting it all hang out no matter what your ability or age. You can hear her endless enthusiasm in this clip. Thank you Giselle for giving us all hope that one day we might be a tenth the dancer that you are❤️🙏🏻💃🏻
Posted @withregram • from @gisellepeacock Name Dropping!!!! After what is almost 3 years now of this lovely woman attending my classes online and literally being apart of the @gpowerdf landscape via computer (lol) @chrisbath finally surprised us by actually coming into the studio……😲😲 She even brought me a jar of her honey from the busy bees at her farm. Which is to die for 🍯 🙏
@chrisbath is an Aussie journalist, radio, tv presenter, and very established news anchor. But she’s not just a smarty pants, she’s one hell of a dancer. And hopefully will ChaCha her way back on dancing with the starts (All-Stars)🙏
Just look at her go !👏
I was so blessed to first meet Cris and friend @soniakruger (who also needs no introduction ) Around 11 years ago in my class at Sydney Dance Company. Both lovers of Ballroom dancing. All these years later I’m so glad to get to be a part of this amazing, intelligent, funny….. and omg she’s so quick….😂vibrant, and energetic woman’s life everyday. Whether it be for Dancing, Barre, or a Hit class. Your there everyday ready for punishment…. Lol 💪
Thank you for being a great friend to me over the years…. Especially during very tough times.
To all my dance family really…..thank you 🙏🙏

Happy happy birthday Millie Moo 🎉❤️ 🎊 ( I know I’m a day late but all the best aunties are)

Chris Bath Instagram - Veni. Vidi. Sweet Potato-i.
Even Steve’s impressed.
The thing is, this is an accidental crop, and for a second year, it has made an encounter with a brown snake while scavenging the plants from @johgriggs7 compost bin worthwhile. Got a great crop last year & how’s this for low maintenance - they self grew this year, appearing without any effort from me under my watermelon. Unlike broccoli there was no conquering required, which makes my headline kind of redundant really. #birdnerdsrusfarm 👊🏻🎉

Chris Bath Instagram - John & Annabelle bought the Lakeside Lodge Motel @lakeside_lodge_lismore (“that never floods”) in Nov 2020 & moved north to Lismore from Torquay. They persevered through the tourism shock of bushfires & a pandemic that was never part of their business plan, then found themselves trapped on the motel’s rooftop with 24 of their guests, as floodwaters rose around them #swipeleft See #linkinbio They spent a terrifying six hours with a birdseye view of the rising water, until strangers in tinnies arrived & rescued all of their guests. They were the last ones off the roof (thanks to a dude they only know as “Dylan from Lennox Head”) I met them last Thursday when they arrived back in clothes that someone gave them at the pub when they turned up soaking wet once Dylan dropped them to safety (Annabelle reckons it’s the only chance she’ll ever have to rock a PhoKing t-shirt). Alone, they started the long clean up. Mud everywhere, they dragged sodden carpet, mattresses, TV’s & fridges from rooms, somehow with a warm, dry sense of humour, resigned to what they needed to do to get their business up & running asap because “Lismore’s gonna need accomodation & we need to get some money through the door.” While we were there filming for @theprojecttv John got a call from @bookingcom hassling for their booking fees. John told them “mate we’ve just been smashed by a flood, I don’t think that’s appropriate right now”. I spoke to John yesterday. They’ve called three times since. Seriously @bookingcom it’s time for a multinational like you to do your bit & waive booking fees for tourism operators like John & Annabelle. They don’t want charity, but they could do with a break. They’ve slaved for a week to clean out their motel, knowing that whoever helps repair their region will need somewhere to stay. And to give you an idea of the some of challenges they face, no matter how hard they work, it’ll be weeks before they can get electricity in their rooms (every power point has to be checked by Council), the rubbish they’ve dragged out remains dishearteningly on their doorstep because there’s simply so much of it to remove in Lismore. So hey @bookingcom why not throw them a bone?
Chris Bath - 3.2K Likes - I never worked with him, in fact I always worked at the opposition network in Sydney.

Chris Bath - 3.2K Likes - My Dad didn’t want a funeral, didn’t want the “hoo ha”, he said.

Chris Bath - 1.5K Likes - So yesterday this happened & I finally got to say thank you for the amazing job she did 20 years ago.

Chris Bath - 1.2K Likes - “Who Do You Think You Are?” returns to @sbs_australia on June 8 at 7.30pm & thanks to the fabulous production crew (#swipeleft) I spent two socially distanced weeks with last November, I now can explain why regional & wild Australia resonates so much with me, which is something I never fully understood until now.

Lol 💪

Chris Bath - 856 Likes - When you hike with one of your besties who has never worn a backpack let alone walked for days with one, never worn hiking boots, never not had a daily hot shower, never done wilderness anything & never imagined she would, & does it all with a smile & a laugh & is already googling the next bushwalking adventure. ❤️ you @abolgie Thanks for a superb tour & the husbands weren’t bad either, apart from that third bottle of Pinot.... #tasmania #swipeleft

Chris Bath - 777 Likes - John & Annabelle bought the Lakeside Lodge Motel @lakeside_lodge_lismore (“that never floods”) in Nov 2020 & moved north to Lismore from Torquay.

And you don’t even need binoculars. I’m very happy to again be an ambassador for the #AussieBirdCount which begins on Oct 18. Register via the link in my bio, & count the birds in your backyard for @birdlifeoz You’ll help out the feathered friends of #straya & you may be surprised by how much you’ll enjoy finding your inner birdnerd 💪🏻
