Caption : After the first two stages of @driftappalachia broke the internet, the Pit Paddock team knew that we had to persuade our own pro driver @daiyoshihara to join in on the fun. @eneosusa and @yokohamatire decided to jump on board in support of Dai’s street-drifting desires, all he had to do was make the 2,500-mile trek to Beckley, West Virginia. Transporting his 1,000hp competition-spec BRZ would be no walk in the park, but Dai being the man that he is, wasn’t going to hire someone to deliver his drift car there. He loaded up the BRZ in a trailer with a full set of tools, spare tires, and a drum of race gas, then made the trip. Dai’s willingness to traverse the country demonstrates how passionate he still is about drifting, even after retiring from the big leagues three years ago. Dai and his crew chief @eimerengineering spent the first day adapting the @formulad-spec BRZ for the backroads of West Virginia (adjusting gearing, suspension settings, and tire pressures). By day two, Dai felt more at home on the Touge. It made us smile seeing Dai drive here. These spiritual “Touge”-like roads are where Dai learned how to drift back in Japan, and he hasn’t been able to drive on anything like this since he was a kid. As we were packing up for the weekend, Dai told us that he would return to Drift Appalachia in a heartbeat, but with a much more suitable car for the tight quarters of the track. He hinted at finally getting his Civic Type R-powered Toyota AE86 ready, so we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed that we’ll see next year! 🤞 📸: @duspeed #PitandPaddock #DaiYoshihara #DriftAppalachia #FormulaDRIFT #SubaruBRZ #AmericanTougeLikes : 1615

Caption : For the first and only time during the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race calendar, we have a home-court advantage. 🏠 Montreal Motorsport Group (@mtlmtrsprtgrp) considers Canadian Tire Motorsport Park its stomping ground, a 2.459-mile, 10-turn clockwise circuit known for its dramatic elevation changes and as a former Formula 1 host from 1967 to 1977. To say we have some unfinished business to attend to from Watkins Glen would be an understatement, but we still walked away from the IMPC mid-season race with one major accomplishment: sole possession of P5 in the championship. @daiyoshihara’s focus has been unwavering since our last race weekend. He’s logged plenty of time on the simulator to acclimate to the circuit, as well as repetitive reps for executing the perfect driver change during time-sensitive pit stops. @karlwittmer and the rest of the MMG camp were equally as excited to be on home soil. There’s an undeniable allure to racing on familiar territory with the Canadian flag waving from the grandstands. Wittmer was succinct in his weekend forecast: “Eyes on the prize.” Indeed, the prize is there for the taking. The green flag drops at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park 120 race on Saturday, July 13 from 1:20 PM to 3:25 PM ET with practice on Friday and qualifying preceding the two-hour contest. Caption : Another strong points finish earned the #93 Pit Paddock FL5 Civic Type R TCR sole rights to P5 in the championship into the second half of the ten-race season. Montreal Motorsport Group (@mtlmtrsprtgrp) and Pit Paddock started the Watkins Glen weekend off in the best way possible: a front-row lockout in qualifying that showcased the team’s impressive pace and preparation. As fate would have it, the Esses 120 at Watkins Glen began under full course caution because two Michelin Pilot Challenge combatants collided on the formation lap. Once the green flag was waved, Yoshihara made the most of his stint early; he assumed the lead in TCR within the first five minutes before the #19 Aston Martin brought out the second safety car due to a race-ending puncture. He’d come back out in P9, but was crucially ahead of the TCR championship leader, the #17 JDC-Miller Motorsports Audi, who pitted at the same time. As we crested an hour, Yoshihara resiliently clawed back up to P3. Wittmer took over race duties near the 54-minute mark, maintaining position until a technical issue sent him down the order. But his “never give up” attitude kept his hopes high. With just over 30 minutes left, Wittmer had found enough pace to climb four positions and enjoy some clean-air running. By the time the checkered flag waved, the #93 Pit Paddock FL5 Civic Type R TCR had finished P8 and importantly, ahead of its nearest rival who shared P5 in the championship previously. MMG continues to give the team all the opportunities it needs and, especially over the last three races, that support and experience has paid off handsomely. It’s, quite literally, just a matter of time before we’re on the podium where we belong.
