David F. Sandberg Instagram - Got to check out the ScreenX version of Shazam Fury of the Gods this morning. 44 minutes of the movie is in 270 degree view. It’s quite immersive when the movie fills out your peripheral vision.
David F. Sandberg Instagram - Sadly I won’t be going to the Shazam premiere tonight because I finally caught Covid. Had to travel all over Europe and talk to a ton of entertainment journalists but I finally caught that bastard! Seriously though I’m so grateful to have gotten to work with such an amazing cast and crew and I’m glad I got to at least join some of them for the European screenings. Have the best of times tonight! #ShazamFuryOfTheGods EDIT: I have done more than one test but it doesn’t matter anyway because I’m still feeling sick and wouldn’t be able to go.

Screenings have been full so when they released extra 6am showtimes I figured it was either that or never seeing it in IMAX 70mm. This early morning screening was pretty packed too! And I saw Barbie yesterday for a Barbenheimer weekend.

Since I play the crocodile men in the first movie they suggested to do something with that so mine is a continuation of that encounter in the first film (see last pic for full credits). Dream Scenario, How to Blow Up a Pipeline, and The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. Really enjoyed all three. I’d love to shoot a film on 16mm. Would be fun to do something in the style of an 80s low budget horror or something.

David F. Sandberg Instagram - @lottalosten got me hooked on film so now I’ve bought an old 16mm camera to play around with. I’ve mostly just filmed boring shots to test the camera except for Lotta singing to test if it’s possible to sync audio to it. Seems to work but the camera is pretty loud, even with noise reduction. Camera is a Canon Scoopic 16 M from the early 70s. Regular 16mm, not super16, hence the 4:3 frame.

It’s been three years since our last, but most notably, 10 whole years since we made our first. Cam Closer was the one that started our short film journey, the one before Lights Out and everything that came after, so it felt kinda fitting to return to where we once started with this sequel of sorts. Making these little shorts together will forever be one of my favorite things in the whole world. It’s something we do just for the joy of making them, but we sure hope you love them too! 😱Go watch it! LINK IN BIO!😱

David F. Sandberg Instagram - Some 16mm testing. The built in lens seems to be a bit off on the camera. Things that can happen when buying old cameras on eBay. For one it’s definitely not parfocal which it’s supposed to be. Wanted to do some tests with a higher f-stop so this was shot on Kodak Vision3 500T with an 85B filter and a bit of ND. At the end there’s a 16mm vs Super8 comparison. Not a very scientific one but I happened to have shot myself in the bathroom mirror with the two cameras (although one at day & one at night). Camera is a Canon Scoopic 16M.

It’s the most magical thing that’s ever happened to us and I don’t think it’s possible to explain just how grateful we are. Here are some screenshots from my blog, Facebook and Twitter of those incredibly exciting and overwhelming days after Lights Out went viral, including the Facebook post when one of the largest Swedish newspapers emailed David IN ENGLISH to ask if they could have an interview and David replied “I hope it’s okay that I reply in Swedish.” They had no idea we were from Sweden. Our short had become a phenomenon. And that time the writers on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight show emailed to say they were fans. And how I became a meme when someone put sunglasses on my monster face. It was a highly intense period, overwhelming in mostly great ways, but I remember the feeling of quickly having to learn what it is to be a woman seen by millions of people on the internet and having random men commenting on my body and looks. Those days and weeks and months that followed of not knowing what it would all lead to, if anything, was exhilarating and exhausting and I am so incredibly happy with how it did unfold. Proud too. Of our little Lights Out. What a crazy ride it’s been, and continues to be!

I’ve mostly just filmed boring shots to test the camera except for Lotta singing to test if it’s possible to sync audio to it. Seems to work but the camera is pretty loud, even with noise reduction. Camera is a Canon Scoopic 16 M from the early 70s. Regular 16mm, not super16, hence the 4:3 frame.

It’s been three years since our last, but most notably, 10 whole years since we made our first. Cam Closer was the one that started our short film journey, the one before Lights Out and everything that came after, so it felt kinda fitting to return to where we once started with this sequel of sorts. Making these little shorts together will forever be one of my favorite things in the whole world. For one it’s definitely not parfocal which it’s supposed to be. Wanted to do some tests with a higher f-stop so this was shot on Kodak Vision3 500T with an 85B filter and a bit of ND. At the end there’s a 16mm vs Super8 comparison. Not a very scientific one but I happened to have shot myself in the bathroom mirror with the two cameras (although one at day & one at night). Camera is a Canon Scoopic 16M.
