Dehenna Davison Instagram - Heading into Parliament for the last time as an MP. What a bittersweet day.
Dehenna Davison Instagram - As the General Election has been called for 4th July, the King will dissolve Parliament at midnight tonight, at which point I will no longer be your Member of Parliament. It has been a true privilege to be your MP for the past four-and-a-half years and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to serve the wonderful communities of our constituency.

My team and I will continue to monitor the inbox and will keep working on sensitive casework on an ongoing basis until the new MP is elected. Parliamentary guidelines, however, state that we should no longer reply to non-urgent enquiries.

If you have written to me to discuss government policy, or as part of a national campaign, this unfortunately means that I will not be able to give you a substantive response. I am truly sorry not to be able to do so, and realise how frustrating this may be. Like many, I had thought there would be a little more time until an election in the autumn!

Thank you for all your support over the years.

Dehenna Davison Instagram - About to jump on the train back north, but keep thinking about how gorgeous the sky was last night. It’s giving Lover album vibes.
Dehenna Davison Instagram - What a difference a few days can make when it comes to migraine 🤯

Thursday was a great day! Pain barely noticeable, I managed to tick something off my bucket list and even coped absolutely fine with the bright studio lights, which had been a bit of a worry.

Yesterday, meanwhile, I spent the whole day lying down with the curtains closed, and then was still awake until the early hours because of the pain and nausea. So today, I’m feeling totally knackered!

I know some people get annoyed with me for sharing this sort of thing and want me to focus just on politics posts, but having a platform as an MP is such a tremendous privilege. I hope that sharing my experiences with chronic migraine from time to time might help others feel less alone, and might help spread awareness of the realities so together we can reduce the stigma of migraine.

(Also, the hoodie only comes out when I am absolutely not being brave about it!)
Dehenna Davison Instagram - A quick look back at today’s @londonmarathon. Some brilliant highs (a fair few lows) but I finished it without stopping once, and all to raise money for the brilliant @national_migraine_centre. There’s still time to donate so please do (my aching legs would appreciate it!!) and the link is in my bio 🏃‍♀️ #migraine #migrainewarrior #migraineawareness

Dehenna Davison Instagram - 4 years ago today I was elected to be your MP!

It feels like yesterday, but a lot has changed since then (not just my hair colour!). It has truly been an honour to serve as your Member of Parliament.

The last four years have presented some significant challenges. We started by voting through the Brexit deal, and just as I was finding my feet in Westminster and setting up our constituency office, we were faced with the global pandemic and lockdowns. Since then, a war in Ukraine and the terrible situation in the Middle East. The fresh faced me of 2019 might have just wondered what on earth I’d signed up for!

But I have always been proud of our area, how resilient we are, how we helped each other through the pandemic and beyond, and the fantastic people and businesses that call the constituency home!

Since being elected I have helped deliver millions of pounds in investment for Bishop Auckland and Spennymoor High Streets, much needed repairs to the Whorlton Bridge, saving Ward 6 at Bishop Auckland Hospital, and finally secured the long awaited funding for the Toft Hill Bypass - and so much more.

Thank you for all your support and constructive feedback over the last four years. I will continue to work hard for our four towns and many villages. As always, if you need my help please contact me via the details below.

Dehenna Davison Instagram - A very Merry Christmas from us to you all! 🎄

Here’s hoping your day has been as full of good wine, good food, and good company as ours has been. We’re now curled up in front of the telly ready for the Christmas Wheel. Can’t work out if it’ll be me or Carter asleep on the sofa first!

Much love everyone,

Dehenna Davison Instagram - Heading to the Chamber ready for the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement 💷

A big day in Westminster, but mainly hoping it’s going to mean big things for local residents!

You can watch it live at 12:30 on most news channels.
Dehenna Davison Instagram - Whizzed back from Paris this morning and made it into the office before the House began sitting for the day. Currently at my desk working on my One Punch Manslaughter campaign.

I have submitted an amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill to create a dedicated offence of “One Punch Manslaughter” with an increased sentence for offenders. At present, the average sentence is only around four years, which feels painfully unfair to all the families left without their loved one due to this violent act.

I have a meeting with the Minister this evening, so hopefully we can agree to make this vital change on Wednesday when the Bill returns to the Commons.

Dehenna Davison Instagram - A very frustrating day in Parliament today. Despite a brilliant cross-party effort, led by @lloydrussellmp, sadly we did not get the Conversion Therapy Prohibition Bill through the House.

After promising to deliver a conversion therapy ban over five years ago, the Government still have not brought forward their own legislation, and today failed to support the Private Members Bill brought forward by Lloyd.

Though we were unsuccessful today, our cross-party efforts will continue until we finally see this abhorrent practiced outlawed for good, for the whole LGBT community. Nobody should suffer abuse for being who they are. 🏳️‍🌈

Dehenna Davison Instagram - Just got some words of wisdom from a true legend! We’ll be starting at around 1015 so keep an eye out and, if you’re watching in person, give us a cheer! @LondonMarathon
Dehenna Davison Instagram - Well, this is exciting! 🥳

I am extremely honoured to have been included on the BBC’s 100 Women 2023 among some incredible company, including Michelle Obama and Amal Clooney.

It is a privilege to be recognised alongside so many inspirational women, but mainly to see my campaigns to secure funding for Lobular Cancer research, fairer sentencing for One Punch Assaults, and improving treatment for chronic migraine highlighted on such a huge, global platform.

I am so lucky to have the platform I do, but first and foremost I am the MP for Bishop Auckland. An opportunity I am so lucky to have and never take for granted.

I came into office to do better for our community, and while some of my time is focused on these national campaigns, our local campaigns are always at the front of my mind. We’ve seen over £70 million of investment into our communities, plans for the Toft Hill Bypass secured, Whorlton Bridge is finally being repaired, and I still have so much more I am working on.

If you have an issue you would like my help with, my team and I are always happy to help. You can contact me via email or phone, details below 👇🏻

Dehenna Davison Instagram - Back where it all began over 17 years ago. Couldn’t be prouder of what we have managed to achieve. A massive thank you to @onepunchuk for all their work and for all colleagues who supported us. This weekend is for reflecting with family, then next week is for following up with the MoJ to get the ball rolling.

Dehenna Davison Instagram - Honoured to lay a wreath in Shildon and pay tribute to those who gave their lives, so that we may have our freedom.

Thank you to those who laid the Parliamentary wreathes across Bishop Auckland, Barnard Castle, and Spennymoor this morning.

Dehenna Davison Instagram - I don’t have many pictures of Dad - even fewer when he had hair! But today is 17 years since he died so I always like to have a look through the few I do have, and remember the brilliant man who raised me. How have 17 years passed so quickly?!

I can’t believe how young he and Mum look on this, with my lovely Nannan looking characteristically fabulous and full of joy too ❤️
Dehenna Davison Instagram - Thinking about Dad today on what would have been his 52nd birthday. In this pic we’d taken the dog for a walk and gone for a kickabout. You can just spot little me behind him with a can of what looks like Coke - very on brand!

I don’t have many pictures of Dad, and in most of those I do have he looks dead grumpy! But he wasn’t at all. He was the most fun-loving prankster I ever had the pleasure of knowing. Every year on 22nd December I raise a glass, and wish he was here to eat too many mince pies on Christmas ❤️
Dehenna Davison Instagram - YOUR CONSERVATIVE PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE 🌳

I am thrilled that the fantastic Jane MacBean for Bishop Auckland has recently been selected as the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the new Bishop Auckland constituency.

Jane’s tenacity, energy, and extensive experience will be crucial for helping make our community even better. She has really hit the ground running with a great start to her campaign. We are already working closely together, and she will have my full support right through to the General Election and beyond.

If you want to help keep Bishop Blue, please do sign up to support Jane and join her this weekend in Stanhope.👇🏻

Dehenna Davison Instagram - Squeezing in a quick run before work yesterday with my pal and colleague, Will! Another day, another migraine attack that crept up on me, meaning I was in bed with painkillers by 9pm after a full working day. Dehenna Davison Instagram - Sentencing for one punch killers is not working in this country.

Watch my question to the Prime Minister calling on the Government to introduce a specific offence and a tougher minimum sentence for one punch manslaughter.
Dehenna Davison Instagram - On my way, bright and breezy, to the BBC studios to beam into @bbcbreakfast to discuss my debate today on access to migraine treatment. Will be live around 0710, and the debate starts at 0930 on parliamentlive.tv

Dehenna Davison Instagram - Today Parliament held its first debate on migraine in over 60 years!

With 10 million people in the UK living with migraine, I was so pleased to have been able to secure this very important Westminster Hall Debate today, and welcome so many amazing people to Parliament to watch it from the gallery. A massive thanks to those at The Migraine Trust and National Migraine Centre and everyone who travelled down to play a part in it.

We raised the serious issues so many are facing with accessing effective treatments, and I am pleased that the Minister has agreed to meet me and the two brilliant charities I’m working with to see what steps we can take to improve access. There’s much more to do, but this is a step in the right direction in ensuring the millions of people across the UK that suffer from migraine are able to live a life free from pain.

Dehenna Davison Instagram - Earlier this week I signed the @HolocaustUK Book of Commitment ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day today.

We must never forget the atrocities of the Holocaust and the 6 million lives lost. Together we must continue to stamp out antisemitism in all its forms.
Dehenna Davison Instagram - We need to do more to ensure people feel the criminal justice system is on their side.

Yesterday I spoke in the Chamber in the King’s Speech crime and justice debate. If you have been following me for a while, you will know that it was my dad’s death after a one punch assault that became the key catalyst for my journey into politics, and since being elected here it has been a key mission of mine to raise awareness about the devastation of single punch assaults.

Here is a short clip of my speech. I hope to bring forward an amendment to future legislation on sentencing and crime, and have secured a meeting with the Justice Minister to secure this.

Mike and Ruth, volunteers for SSAFA the Armed Forces charity, also laid a cross on behalf of the Bishop Auckland’s Veterans Group, an incredible organisation they founded.

I’m incredibly grateful to Mike and Ruth for taking the time to come to Parliament, and joining me to pay our respects to those who have served our country.

Dehenna Davison - 0.9K Likes - As the General Election has been called for 4th July, the King will dissolve Parliament at midnight tonight, at which point I will no longer be your Member of Parliament.

Dehenna Davison - 778 Likes - 4 years ago today I was elected to be your MP!

Here’s hoping your day has been as full of good wine, good food, and good company as ours has been. We’re now curled up in front of the telly ready for the Christmas Wheel. Can’t work out if it’ll be me or Carter asleep on the sofa first!

Much love everyone,

I have submitted an amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill to create a dedicated offence of “One Punch Manslaughter” with an increased sentence for offenders. At present, the average sentence is only around four years, which feels painfully unfair to all the families left without their loved one due to this violent act.

I have a meeting with the Minister this evening, so hopefully we can agree to make this vital change on Wednesday when the Bill returns to the Commons.

Dehenna Davison - 427 Likes - Well, this is exciting!

We must never forget the atrocities of the Holocaust and the 6 million lives lost. Together we must continue to stamp out antisemitism in all its forms.

Lest we forget.
