Feminista Jones Instagram - Letā€™s get Smarter in Seconds about Kwanzaa ā¤ļøšŸ–¤šŸ’š Co-created in 1966 by Sister Makinya Sibeko-Kouate and Dr. Maulana Karenga during the Civil Rights and Black Power Movement, Kwanzaa is a newer, non-religious, and Pan-Africanist holiday that specifically celebrates and uplifts African Peoples and members of the African Diaspora globally. Because of this the holiday is rarely acknowledged or given the nuance and respect it deserves. Each of the Nguzo Saba or Seven Principles is Kiswahili word with profound meaning: Day 1 is Umoja, or unity, a commitment to working together between and across African communities.Ā  Day 2, Kujichagulia, or self-determination, is the right for African peoples to define ourselves outside of the definitions that are forced onto us. Day 3, Ujima, or collective responsibility, is a commitment to solidarity. Day 4 is Ujamaa, or cooperative economics. Itā€™s a commitment to working together in the sharing of resources and wealth. It can also be looked at as supporting Black-owned businesses. Day 5 is Nia, purpose. Itā€™s a commitment to working and living toward a common purpose of liberation. Day 6 is Kuumba, or creativity. A celebration of African culture through art, music, poetry, performance, and more.Ā  And the final day is Imani, or faith. Not faith in a particular deity, but faith in the power of the people. Feminista Jones Instagram - I thought this video was lost forever. Then I got an email to reactivate an old photo account I had. I had to pay $5 but I was compelled to do it. So many old photos and videos I had stored there but this oneā€¦THIS ONEā€¦ Iā€™ve been looking for it for over a decade. It remains the only video I have of my son and my mother together. It was about 5 or so weeks before she transitioned. She was in hospice care and she looked forward to our visits (itā€™s why I volunteer at hospice care now). I cried and cried when I found this video. I needed that release. Last week was rough. But this was a sign. My mama always had words of wisdom when it came to what Iā€™ve been dealing with. This was a sign to move forward with love and grace for myself. Video two is just for comparison. This big ole boy smh

You are just one of manyā€¦the jump from woman to woman, sticking with whoever is willing to endure their tests the longest. It isnā€™t that they are emotionally unavailable, because theyā€™re absolutely able to show up in anger, frustration, rage, annoyance, self-righteousness, etc. Theyā€™ll make you the whipping girl and dare you to love them as their mother didnā€™t. Try as you might, you will never love them enough because they canā€™t receive it. Youā€™ll let them continue to unload on you because you want to be that ā€œsafe spaceā€. You feel special because he opened up to you and no one else sees that side of him. You realize that no one else sees that side by design; youā€™re the only one who knows the truth. Or maybe not? Then he blames you for his raging out because if you had just watched your mouth, you wouldnā€™t have provoked him. Then he punches a hole in your wall. Then his hands are around your throat. And no one will ever believe you because heā€™s so kind and generous and charming. If you break up with him, youā€™ll be abandoning him like his mama did. Like his ex did. You wanted to show him something different but until he heals his mother wounds, he wonā€™t see you as anything more than another woman he canā€™t trust or let in. If he doesnā€™t kill your body, he will kill your spirit. And everything you believed about love will die with it.

As a former care provider for people with severe psychiatric disabilities, this felt so familiar and, oddly enough, elicited something more like pity than empathy. To watch someone stand so adamantly in a delusion and not even blinkā€¦ itā€™s a lot. To watch someone lie so deliberately and with such conviction and not even blinkā€¦itā€™s a lot. To be unable to know which one this isā€¦ is a lot. Never in the history of the US have we seen anything like *waves hand* this. We knew it was coming. The Dems knew it was coming (and that they couldnā€™t do anything to stop it šŸ™ƒ). The world knew it was coming. And here it is. Itā€™s year 249. This empire will fall by 250.
