Gemma Atkinson Instagram - Lots of you have asked if I got my much hoped for VBAC…. This was me on mon 17th July 3hrs after an elected C section. I didn’t get my vaginal birth. My waters broke and I went into labour and stayed at home for as long as possible (it helped that the Wimbledon men’s final was on!) My contractions got down to every 6 mins or so and then slowly just stopped. We headed into the hospital 24hrs after my waters broke as they had changed colour a little. Thiago had opened his bowels. Thanks son! Already shitting on me 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 I was given the choice of the artificial hormone to induce labour again or a section. Weeks ago we said if it came down to that we would 100% go with the section. I had the hormone injection with Mia and it was awful 😩 plus after that it ended up in an emergency C section and PPH anyway. This time was SO much more relaxed. It was actually a wonderful experience and it just so happened that the same surgeon who delivered Mia was on shift. So she delivered Thiago as well 🥹❤️ Of course recovery is still tough, it’s a huge operation regardless, but I couldn’t be happier in the outcome of how he arrived. It felt like somehow it was meant to be this way. My incredible mum has moved in this week while Gorka is away which me and Mia are loving. Although I have to keep reminding her to stop buying me pastries! As I always do with every situation I’ve sat back and looked for a silver lining, which in this case, is after two babies, Gorka’s favourite pub is still very much intact. 😉😉 I take my hat off to any which way our babies are born. Vaginal or a section, theres no easy way. Pregnancy, labour and the 4th trimester is tough! But so are we 🙌🏼
Gemma Atkinson Instagram - A full day with Mia 🥰 These are few and far between now so with Thiago at nursery and Mia on half term i booked the day off so we could have a girls day. She wanted to “go for breakfast, do a gym session have a spa day and have a kinda bueno easter egg” sounded like the perfect day to me! I love that she takes an interest in the gym already. In mine & Gorks experience we’ve learnt that kids don’t do what you say, they do what you do. I’m happy to be setting healthy fun habits that will stick with them. We’re off to get Tio from nursery soon so the calm of our living room spa will very soon be over 😂
Gemma Atkinson Instagram - Today we said goodbye to Auntie Shelia. The kindest most caring lady and eldest relative we have. The matriarch of our family. After almost 93 years her body became tired. Now at peace and reunited with Uncle Peter and many more relatives, I’m sure they’ll be having a celebration together just as we did today at her send off. As sad as funerals are, it’s always lovely having the family together having a good laugh and a good buffet! 😂 Thanks for teaching our family to always stay positive. I’m convinced that’s why you lived so happy for so long, because regardless of the situation you always looked on the bright side. Sleep well…I’ll miss your pound coins sellotaped in my Birthday card this year, but I know you’ll check in on everyone now & again ♥️

Gemma Atkinson Instagram - We couldn’t be prouder of Mia if we tried. The last couple of months have been so tough on her and the way she has navigated this part of her life has been astonishing. As you know from the minute she was home from the hospital Norman & Ollie were a part of her life. A constant security blanket. She knew nothing else but life with them as part of our family. Explaining to her they were going to be leaving us has so far been the hardest thing I’ve had to do as a parent. I sat and thought for days about how best to do it. She’s cried when she’s needed, she’s been angry at times and she’s been curious. She’s asked me why they went? where are they now? did it hurt? will they be back? will there be other dogs with them? lots of questions I’ve tried my hardest to answer all whilst trying to deal with it myself. I’m so happy shes actually asking though. She’s talking and not bottling anything in. The pain from grief and loss is something every single one of us will experience in life. It makes me sad that Mias first time was when she was so young. But I’m also happy that for her first 5 years she was taught responsibility, empathy, compassion and loyalty from 2 incredible dogs. She made a wish before bed the other night that they could come back for Christmas Day 😔 The house really doesn’t feel the same without them. I know when the time is right we’ll look to rescue another dog, or maybe 2. Actually 5 if it was just up to me! (Fa facksaaske Gemah) It won’t be to fill the void, as Norman & Ollie are irreplaceable. It’ll be to create new memories and new friendships with furry friends who need us just as much as we need them ❤️

Gemma Atkinson Instagram - 2 weeks post C section. Breast pads ✔️ Industrial size sanitary pad ✔️ Swollen tummy ✔️ All the things postpartum we go through. It’s very common for tummy’s to stay swollen after pregnancy and they usually stay swollen longer after a C section due to the inflammation and abdominal swelling from surgery. So don’t worry if you feel you still look pregnant as I do here. ITS NORMAL! I’m not expecting to look like my old self for months down the line yet. I haven’t even left the house other than pottering about in the garden. I’ve been mindful to rest as much as I can to aid recovery down the line. Weather permitting, towards the end of this week I’m going to start some short walks. Until I’ve had my mummy MOT that’s all the exercise I’ll be doing. What I’ve been focusing on instead is trying to make myself feel like my old self, and so far it’s worked. Despite broken sleep for 2 weeks I feel really good 👍🏼 Upbeat, and ready to take on the day. The simple things I’ve been doing are… Cold showers. No ice bath yet so I’ve stood under cold water every morning for a minute letting it run on my pituitary gland (aim water on back of the neck) It’s responsible for regulating so many functions in the body and essentially kick starts your system in the morning. It works a treat for boosting your mood. Secondly, my nutrition. With my hormones slowly settling and the cravings for crap which I had in pregnancy going I’m back to eating my usual foods. I’m snacking a lot as anyone will tell you breast feeding makes you hungry and we need the extra calories to feed. I’ve been snacking on things like nuts, fage yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs and dark chocolate. In pregnancy it was bread and haribo 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 Lastly, and this is where it gets cheesy, but affirmations! Every morning I’ve told myself “I can do this” every night feed I’ve reminded myself “thousands of women are now doing the exact same as me right now” and every time I look at Thiago I thank my body for growing, carrying and birthing him. 15 days ago he was in my tummy and that blows my mind completely. The miracle of life and the human body. 🥰🥰🥰

Gemma Atkinson Instagram - Day to day as a tired mum on the school run is a different look altogether 🥴😂 But last night from 6pm until midnight I got to feel incredible! When I first met @ryankaystyles and we spoke about outfits I told him I love the idea of suits but I’ve never done it as I always feel “a bit manly in them because I’ve got broad shoulders and im tall” After he’d stopped eye rolling he told me I was being ridiculous & to leave it with him. From my red suit at the Pride Of Britain to this black number to host the @ilovemanchester awards. Simple, understated, powerful and a nod to Manchester with my 🐝 broaches. I couldn’t be happier! Although I’m sure the hotel cctv is wondering what the hell we were doing using the fire exit for a backdrop 😂 Thanks Ry! And to the wonderful @jesscarswellpro who came over to our house to do my hair and makeup in between me making bottles and bouncing Thiago. Team work makes the dream work! 🖤🙌🏼

There hasn’t been one day where I haven’t sat and thought about him or imagined him pottering around the house. I went for a lunch with the girls last sat and all 4 of us had a cry about him at the table. We must have looked a right bunch 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 It makes me really happy to see Ollie wagging his tail again. A fresh start and new beginnings ✨✨ Yesterday we took the Christmas tree down, and in the process a crystal I’d placed next to a photo of Norman & Ollie got knocked over and smashed. They say when a crystal smashes it can be a gesture from the universe marking the end of a phase. The crystal may have helped you through a transformation or difficult time and it breaking signifies that you are now strong enough and able to move forward without its assistance. I don’t believe in coincidence, and the fact it was the crystal placed next to that picture and the fact it happened on the one day we had another dog in the house (Rocco) for me, was a clear message. We’re going to be ok. Mia will be ok. We buried it back in the earth and asked Norman & Ollie to come and visit us from time to time. She was so happy digging and chatting away to them. New year. A fresh start and new beginnings but forever in my memory ❤️❤️🐶🐶

They drove from Bilbao. We only had 4 nights but we packed in as much as we could. We must have walked at least 6 miles a day, drank coffee & ate Churros at least 3 times a day and visited the Palace! (Mia’s favourite part) It was Gorkas parents first time meeting Thiago and they haven’t seen Mia for over a year either so it was really lovely 🥰🥰 Short and sweet but lots of memories made. Back home now for the big shop and school prep for tomorrow. Back to reality with a bang 🫠😂 @gorka_marquez

Gemma Atkinson Instagram - Last nights British Soap Awards! What an honour it was to be asked to present the outstanding achievement award to my lovely friend Mark Charnock. Such a deserving winner. The soaps were always a night I looked forward to when I worked on Hollyoaks & Emmerdale, a chance for everyone to party together. Back in the day one of the last to leave the afterparty to last night not even attending the afterparty because my feet, legs, lower back and vagina were all aching 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 However, for the show itself I felt like a pregnant princess in my dress. Gemma Atkinson Instagram - Arts and crafts while Thiago sleeps! It’s funny when Mia was little I slept when she slept, but having more than 1 baby that’s obviously not happening this time. I’m consciously trying to make sure I still have that one on one time with Mia because even though I shouldn’t, there’s this tiny pang of feeling guilty that she’s left out, even though she isn’t 🤦🏼‍♀️ (assuming that’s normal isn’t it??) 😕 I’m feeding Tio on demand at the min so whenever he’s hungry I have to be with him, and sometimes it’s when I’m sat cuddling Mia, or doing a jigsaw. I have to cut it short & explain her brother needs me. She’s been unbelievable at welcoming him. The first 2 nights she came in our room wanting to sleep with us (which she hasn’t done for SO long) we let her as we figured we’d be up on and off anyway and by night 3 she realised her own bed & room was actually comfier (thank god) 😂 I know all of the above is normal so I’m going with it. Anyone else experience the same? Mum guilt even though you have absolutely nothing to be guilty for? 🤦🏼‍♀️

My waters broke and I went into labour and stayed at home for as long as possible (it helped that the Wimbledon men’s final was on!) My contractions got down to every 6 mins or so and then slowly just stopped. We headed into the hospital 24hrs after my waters broke as they had changed colour a little. Thiago had opened his bowels. Thanks son! Already shitting on me 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 I was given the choice of the artificial hormone to induce labour again or a section. Weeks ago we said if it came down to that we would 100% go with the section. I had the hormone injection with Mia and it was awful 😩 plus after that it ended up in an emergency C section and PPH anyway. This time was SO much more relaxed. It was actually a wonderful experience and it just so happened that the same surgeon who delivered Mia was on shift. So she delivered Thiago as well 🥹❤️ Of course recovery is still tough, it’s a huge operation regardless, but I couldn’t be happier in the outcome of how he arrived. It felt like somehow it was meant to be this way. My incredible mum has moved in this week while Gorka is away which me and Mia are loving. Although I have to keep reminding her to stop buying me pastries! As I always do with every situation I’ve sat back and looked for a silver lining, which in this case, is after two babies, Gorka’s favourite pub is still very much intact. 😉😉 I take my hat off to any which way our babies are born. Vaginal or a section, theres no easy way. Pregnancy, labour and the 4th trimester is tough! But so are we 🙌🏼

Now at peace and reunited with Uncle Peter and many more relatives, I’m sure they’ll be having a celebration together just as we did today at her send off. The last couple of months have been so tough on her and the way she has navigated this part of her life has been astonishing. As you know from the minute she was home from the hospital Norman & Ollie were a part of her life. A constant security blanket. She knew nothing else but life with them as part of our family. Explaining to her they were going to be leaving us has so far been the hardest thing I’ve had to do as a parent. I sat and thought for days about how best to do it. She’s cried when she’s needed, she’s been angry at times and she’s been curious. She’s asked me why they went? where are they now? did it hurt? will they be back? will there be other dogs with them? lots of questions I’ve tried my hardest to answer all whilst trying to deal with it myself. I’m so happy shes actually asking though. She’s talking and not bottling anything in. The pain from grief and loss is something every single one of us will experience in life. It makes me sad that Mias first time was when she was so young. But I’m also happy that for her first 5 years she was taught responsibility, empathy, compassion and loyalty from 2 incredible dogs. She made a wish before bed the other night that they could come back for Christmas Day 😔 The house really doesn’t feel the same without them. I know when the time is right we’ll look to rescue another dog, or maybe 2. Actually 5 if it was just up to me! (Fa facksaaske Gemah) It won’t be to fill the void, as Norman & Ollie are irreplaceable. It’ll be to create new memories and new friendships with furry friends who need us just as much as we need them ❤️

It’s very common for tummy’s to stay swollen after pregnancy and they usually stay swollen longer after a C section due to the inflammation and abdominal swelling from surgery. So don’t worry if you feel you still look pregnant as I do here. ITS NORMAL! I’m not expecting to look like my old self for months down the line yet. I haven’t even left the house other than pottering about in the garden. I’ve been mindful to rest as much as I can to aid recovery down the line. Weather permitting, towards the end of this week I’m going to start some short walks. Until I’ve had my mummy MOT that’s all the exercise I’ll be doing. What I’ve been focusing on instead is trying to make myself feel like my old self, and so far it’s worked. Despite broken sleep for 2 weeks I feel really good 👍🏼 Upbeat, and ready to take on the day. The simple things I’ve been doing are… Cold showers. No ice bath yet so I’ve stood under cold water every morning for a minute letting it run on my pituitary gland (aim water on back of the neck) It’s responsible for regulating so many functions in the body and essentially kick starts your system in the morning. It works a treat for boosting your mood. Secondly, my nutrition. With my hormones slowly settling and the cravings for crap which I had in pregnancy going I’m back to eating my usual foods. I’m snacking a lot as anyone will tell you breast feeding makes you hungry and we need the extra calories to feed. I’ve been snacking on things like nuts, fage yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs and dark chocolate. In pregnancy it was bread and haribo 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 Lastly, and this is where it gets cheesy, but affirmations! Every morning I’ve told myself “I can do this” every night feed I’ve reminded myself “thousands of women are now doing the exact same as me right now” and every time I look at Thiago I thank my body for growing, carrying and birthing him. 15 days ago he was in my tummy and that blows my mind completely. The miracle of life and the human body. 🥰🥰🥰

I have to cut it short & explain her brother needs me. She’s been unbelievable at welcoming him. The first 2 nights she came in our room wanting to sleep with us (which she hasn’t done for SO long) we let her as we figured we’d be up on and off anyway and by night 3 she realised her own bed & room was actually comfier (thank god) 😂 I know all of the above is normal so I’m going with it. Anyone else experience the same? Mum guilt even though you have absolutely nothing to be guilty for? 🤦🏼‍♀️
