Caption : Brexit is the gift that just keeps on giving! I love it! It’s great that we can only spend a maximum of 90 days visiting EU countries because it makes those days, where we are allowed to visit, feel even more precious! Just imagine if we could travel to EU countries whenever we liked and for as long as we liked….it just wouldn’t be the same would it? You can have too much of a good thing sometimes. ‘Less is more’ and all that. The 90 day rule also stops our kids from having silly ideas like living and working abroad and having new life experiences. It’s much better to keep our young adults in the UK and have them working on zero hour contracts and limit their ability to experience EU countries. I love Brexit me. I signed a message for her that day wishing her the best of luck. 9 years on … today I randomly bumped into her at Newcastle University School of Architecture and found her doing her final design tutorial for her architecture degree. Caption : Now we have all had the wonderful pleasure of experiencing all of the amazing benefits of Brexit (there are simply too many to mention!!!) we need to be very, very honest with ourselves and admit that maybe 1 or 2 things didn’t quite turn out to be as good as we’d expected. So, to be fair, reasonable and democratic I’m very much looking forward to a ‘BRETURN’ referendum around say 2026/27 to find out if everyone really loves Brexit as much as the government keeps telling us we do. Caption : BOSSY MACHINES : OMG I couldn’t agree more! We bought a washing machine recently that you couldn’t use until you connected it to the WIFI. But we’d just moved house and our WIFI install was delayed. We couldn’t wash clothes for weeks. And we couldn’t override the WIFI setup stage! Why would you need to connect a washing machine to WIFI? Beyond stupid!! I might change my car too for something old school as I’m tried of it beeping and barking instructions at me all the time!! Just this week I missed my train because the car taking me to the station couldn’t start because you had to hold a fob against a sensor, but for some reason the fob couldn’t connect. What’s wrong with a normal key? Keys have been around for hundreds and hundreds of years! There is way too much unnecessary tech and way too much beeping going on. It’s not about us getting old @prueleith … it just annoying whatever age you are! #BossyMachines #FirstWorldProblem 🤪 (and remember we are paying for all that unnecessary tech, bossiness and beeping…!)

Caption : I’m just staggered that this came into force last week and hardly anyone (especially none of the political parties) are talking about it! Food is going to become even more expensive than it is already and supplies of certain products may become more difficult to get hold of. And if people say “buy local instead” (which I do as much as I can!) it’s worth noting that the UK cannot provide enough food to support its own population. We need to import certain goods. Caption : In 1961 ‘George’s Golborne Fish Bar’ (later known as ‘George’s Portobello Fish Bar’) opened near the junction of two of my favourite streets in London. Golborne Road and Portobello Road. They are basically my local high streets and have been for nearly 30 years. The Fish Bar has been a magnificent institution for so many in our ‘local village’ in W10…George’s not only do the best fish and chips but it’s also famous for its ribs. Unfortunately, on Saturday 20th July 2024 ‘George’s’ closes its doors and will no longer be with us. Sad times. It will be a friendly face lost from our high street. But, (on a more positive note) on the 20th July the ‘George’ family (who are amazing) are having a party on the street outside the shop to celebrate the unbelievable contribution they’ve made to W10 over the last 60 years! That is going to be an historic day, not to be missed. (I’ve heard a rumour that local legend Paul Weller might pop along!). We have to end homelessness in Britain. 142,000 kids are stuck in temporary accommodation and that number is rising by the day! It is beyond heartbreaking. But, things are only going to get so much worse with current government policies as they are, a housing system that is completely broken and the cost of living crisis. The only way to end homelessness is to build more social housing across Britain for those desperately in need of a safe, secure and stable home! I’ve been banging on about this for over 20 years.
