Marauder Athletics welcomes George "Tyrus" Murdoch to the Antelope Valley College Athletics Hall of Fame!

A graduate of Quartz Hill School, George Murdoch played offensive line for the Marauders in 1991 and 1992. In 1991, he anchored a line that helped get the Marauders to the Southern California Bowl and earned All-Foothill Conference honors. The 1992 team went on to win the K-Swiss Classic II bowl game - the first non-playoff bowl win in 38 years. George was singled out by his position coach as being "one of the most versatile offensive linemen I ever worked with."

After AVC, Murdoch continued his studies and athletic career at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he received his Baccalaureate degree. After graduating from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, he became Snoop Dogg's bodyguard and eventually entered the world of professional wrestling. Please congratulate George "Tyrus" Murdoch on his induction into AVC's 2024 Athletic Hall of Fame!

George Murdoch Instagram - These words are reflective to my personal relationship with @tyrussmash as a #professional, a #man, and a #father. They are not a foray into a culture war, an unnecessary divide, or a defense of his opinions (whether they are taken in, or out of, context.) If you take it as such, I don’t give a shit.

On this week’s #nwapowerrr, you can see Tyrus give a heartfelt and emotional goodbye to what was one of his greatest passions. Professional Wrestling. This was one of the truly meaningful moments in our sport when the persona and person synergistically meet, delivering a moment of reality and emotion. When a performer’s performance becomes an occurrence of self-actualization (which is the ultimate reward.)

As a man, I’ve not met many so giving with their success, paying it forward for others in this industry to have opportunities outside of it. It’s noble knowing his road to achieve this success (for the record, he has 2 BEST SELLING BOOKS) He’s quick with a joke, he’ll light up your smoke. As a man he treats those with the respect they show him, his kin, his and the business of wrestling.

As a father, his family is what is most important to him. I didn’t need to hear him say it. I saw it first hand when he walked with them down the aisle at #NWA75. I hope that is a moment they never forget.

As a professional we shared rings, rooms, cars. We’ve broken bread and broken bottles. We trained together under some the best and survived together under the worst. We sweat in training, studied the greats, buried the worst, and were thrown to the cynical wolves of the corporate wrestling world in an oft brand wrestling/game show miscarriage.

I took live rounds to get him where he needed to be, he later returned the favor by taking bullets for me on my rise to the top. We buried flags in the woods, thrown $2 bills to the help, while squatting the weights of our worlds.

The consummate professional, one that does the business right, carried a brand and a title to national attention, now leaving behind a legacy. Tyrus was the first to welcome me into @NWA and I couldn’t have been more honored giving him the perfect ending he deserves

This was one of the truly meaningful moments in our sport when the persona and person synergistically meet, delivering a moment of reality and emotion. When a performer’s performance becomes an occurrence of self-actualization (which is the ultimate reward.) As a man, I’ve not met many so giving with their success, paying it forward for others in this industry to have opportunities outside of it. Tyrus was the first to welcome me into @NWA and I couldn’t have been more honored giving him the perfect ending he deserves #ThusSpoke #ec3 #overMAN

George Murdoch - 3.1K Likes - 9 years ago today the world lost a teacher a father a coach a man’s man… I called him coach and he called me a version of him self. “Brodus I see me in you”. You are me and learn from my wisdom. The last day we spent together he told me I have one mission to paint my canvas no one else… if I was aloud one last question I’d ask coach how did I do … he was the American dream not because he dined with kings and queens or sat in alley eating beans… it’s because he made us dream. There was nothing common about coach… Thank you coach I miss you … #playorgohome #americandream #nuffsaid
