For those interested, my thoughts on, not just the withdrawal from Afghanistan but the close to twenty years that preceded it and what amounts to almost zero accountability for senior level military officers, elected representatives, and appointed bureaucrats who failed upward during that time are captured in a blog I wrote on 16 August 2021 titled “Imperial Hubris: The Great Game Revisited” and an article I wrote for TownHall on 23 August 2021 titled “A Time For Bold Adjustment: Fire The Generals.” Both can be found on the blog section of my website.
•
From the blog:
I describe the American experience in Afghanistan as “…a failure that crossed party lines over four separate administrations, two Republican and two Democrat. As we watch the U.S. Embassy evacuation in Kabul and see images of the Taliban taking control of the country, to those of us who fought there it is more than a strategic failure; it’s personal.”
“This year, for the first time in U.S. history, one could have joined the military, served for twenty years, and retired while the country is still involved in the same war.”
“In what is accurately described as imperial hubris, the United States political-military establishment confused entry and initial resolve with victory. They were wrong; America’s sons and daughters paid the price.”
“Simply put, our elected officials and senior level military leaders were trapped by their own intellectual inertia, condemning us to eventual defeat.”
“Strategically, our leaders were not held to account for their blunders — in too many cases, blunders of epic proportions. Rather, they were promoted and eventually retired with full pensions to sit on the boards of companies making a killing in the world of government contracts; the military industrial complex is alive and well. As Lt. Col. Paul Yingling pointed out in his 2007 article A Failure in Generalship, ‘As matters stand now, a private who loses a rifle suffers far greater consequences than a general who loses a war.’”

Jack Carr Instagram - “...we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”
•
I highly encourage all Americans to read the Declaration of Independence today and every Fourth of July as a tribute to those who pledged their Lives, their Fortunes, and their sacred Honor so that future generations could live free from tyranny. Take the opportunity that Independence Day affords to discuss, particularly with our children, the freedoms and rights we have been entrusted to uphold, and our responsibility as citizens to pass them on to future generations.
•
Remember, we are citizens, not subjects, and we must stay ever vigilant that we remain so.
•
Strength and Honor.

Jack Carr Instagram - Always an honor to sit down and hang out with @joerogan in Texas! Went to the @comedymothership the night before and had a blast! Make plans to hit it up in Austin! Such an incredible venue! We cover a lot of ground on this one - Iraq, Afghanistan, aliens, the president’s makeup, the JFK assassination, AI, sketchy watches, flu shots, the inability of elected representatives to simply honor our World War II veterans in Normandy during the D-Day 80th anniversary commemoration ceremonies without injecting politics into their speeches, and we talk about RED SKY MOURNING and TARGETED: BEIRUT.

Enjoy the listen!

Jack Carr Instagram - Windy day in Crete! Zipped down from filming DARK WOLF in Budapest for a wedding and have been fortunate to spend a few days exploring the island with my wife.

Always a student, I love learning about history on the ground and Crete certainly has a fascinating and illustrious past. Its strategic location in the Med has made it the target of invasions from the Venetians to the Ottomans to the Germans in World War II. The Battle of Crete in 1941 would teach Nazi Germany and the Allies very different lessons, lessons that would have a significant impact on the outcome of the Second World War.

I would not be surprised if Crete made an appearance in a future novel.

Always collecting…always researching…always writing…

Jack Carr Instagram - So fired up for this Beretta 1301 Tactical shotgun! Thank you @beretta_usa and @aridus_industries for this amazing gift to celebrate the filming of THE TERMINAL LIST: DARK WOLF and the publication of RED SKY MOURNING!

This Beretta 1301 Tactical shotgun might look familiar to those who watched the Amazon Prime Video adaptation of THE TERMINAL LIST. It is built to commemorate the 1301 @taylorkitsch rocked as Ben Edwards in episode four. Will he pick up a shotgun and go to work in DARK WOLF? Stay tuned…

June 14 also marks the establishment of the Continental Army in 1775 when the Continental Congress authorized the enlistment of “expert riflemen” in defense of freedom.

Caption : It’s been almost three years. • For those interested, my thoughts on, not just the withdrawal from Afghanistan but the close to twenty years that preceded it and what amounts to almost zero accountability for senior level military officers, elected representatives, and appointed bureaucrats who failed upward during that time are captured in a blog I wrote on 16 August 2021 titled “Imperial Hubris: The Great Game Revisited” and an article I wrote for TownHall on 23 August 2021 titled “A Time For Bold Adjustment: Fire The Generals.” Both can be found on the blog section of my website. • From the blog: I describe the American experience in Afghanistan as “…a failure that crossed party lines over four separate administrations, two Republican and two Democrat. As we watch the U.S. Embassy evacuation in Kabul and see images of the Taliban taking control of the country, to those of us who fought there it is more than a strategic failure; it’s personal.” “This year, for the first time in U.S. history, one could have joined the military, served for twenty years, and retired while the country is still involved in the same war.” “In what is accurately described as imperial hubris, the United States political-military establishment confused entry and initial resolve with victory. They were wrong; America’s sons and daughters paid the price.” “Simply put, our elected officials and senior level military leaders were trapped by their own intellectual inertia, condemning us to eventual defeat.” “Strategically, our leaders were not held to account for their blunders — in too many cases, blunders of epic proportions. Rather, they were promoted and eventually retired with full pensions to sit on the boards of companies making a killing in the world of government contracts; the military industrial complex is alive and well. As Lt. Col. Paul Yingling pointed out in his 2007 article A Failure in Generalship, ‘As matters stand now, a private who loses a rifle suffers far greater consequences than a general who loses a war.’” • Study the past. • #Afghanistan #JackCarr #JackCarrUSA

Remember, we are citizens, not subjects, and we must stay ever vigilant that we remain so.

Jack Carr - 11.6K Likes - Windy day in Crete!

Jack Carr - 8.4K Likes - What started as a conversation with my SEAL Teammate Jared Shaw in the spring of 2013 in the BUD/S compound in Coronado, California has led us to a café in Budapest with the Hungarian edition of THE TERMINAL LIST on the table as we discuss the DARK WOLF prequel series starring Taylor Kitsch and next steps in bringing TRUE BELIEVER starring Chris Pratt to screens. The full story behind Jared giving Chris an early copy of THE TERMINAL LIST in 2017 and how that resulted in the Amazon Prime Video series can be found on THE TERMINAL LIST Podcast via my website. Jared portrays “Boozer” in the series and is an Executive Producer, Writer, and Technical Advisor on DARK WOLF. Jared and the entire Team have been CRUSHING IT! Can’t wait for you to start seeing teasers and trailers in preparation to binge-watch THE TERMINAL LIST: DARK WOLF which is coming to Prime Video on [CLASSIFIED].

June 14 also marks the establishment of the Continental Army in 1775 when the Continental Congress authorized the enlistment of “expert riflemen” in defense of freedom.
