Kahlen Rondot Instagram - Today marks the 2 year anniversary of when I decided to take my life back from alcoholism and addiction. The first 5 pictures are me of me living that lifestyle. Followed by pictures of my beautiful life now in sobriety.

The majority of my adult life revolved around drugs and alcohol. Obsessing over when and where my next drink was coming from. When it would be acceptable to get black out drunk. Which usually ended with some kind of injury or regret.

2 years ago, some very special people that had come into my life made me realize I couldn't continue to live this way. I didn't need to just change my ways for them, but also if I wanted to live. I was headed down a path full of regret destruction and eventually death.

I decided 2 years ago to make a change by making better choices 24 hrs at a time. I have now accomplished more in 2 years than I did in my entire drinking career. For example. I can now say that at 40, I have a credit score, I got a driver's license back, I have a loving family where I get to be present in my step kids life. And I have been accepted back into college. Things I never thought were possible or cared about because of my addiction.

Where pain, obsession, and uncertainty used to consume everything around me. I now have love, pride, and perseverance.

I am very grateful for this journey, my sobriety, to be surrounded by my loving, supportive family and friends. I'm grateful to be present and alive every day.

I know this isn't a model picture most of you wanted. Umm I'm posting this very raw picture of myself no makeup, no filter, no cheating. (I blow dried my bangs a bit) I usually have good skin but have gotten used to adult breakouts, especially with face masks. I have pimples and my skin has always been red and sensitive.

I'm sharing this cause improvement in our appearance is always nice. But when it becomes consumed by our vanity.

I removed my eyelash extensions last night. And cried cause I didn't feel as pretty.

It made my realize how dependent I am on appearance, and not my health.
This being my option only but make up has taken over what I see and me too. Make up is here to "enhance your beauty, not change it" - my mom

I don't look like that in my pictures. And I'm glad we are finding fun new make up techniques. But I forgot what natural beauty is. And how beautiful a woman, man, etc. Is.

2022. I will be more beautiful and I hope you find that beauty in yourself as well.
