Laura Vissaritis Instagram - Here she is. Bonded together by her tiny and magical hands, her dad, her and I awe struck by a love beyond words. The dogs have welcomed her to the family in such beautiful ways, and as I had expected. Chester has barely noticed, and when he is with her he’s very much ‘oh yeah, I already knew’. Cashew is cautious with change and so he is exercising his choices and getting to know her at a comfortable pace. And Harry has adopted the protective nature desiring to sit at her side as often as he can. Choice and boundaries are the two key factors for the dogs. Ensuring the routine is predictable and that there are consistencies where the dogs go and when. Within this there are choices the dogs are able to make that keep them feeling safe, respected and calm. They are ready and waiting to teach her many of life’s beautiful lessons.

For me, my dogs insist on safe yet novel experiences not just for their physical health but for their mental health too. Here Chester is practising his balance across my dam, as he explores the new smells of the morning. The ducks, the roos, the evening fox droppings are all letters to him about his home and who he shares it with. Try to forget about the dog park or the walk around the block but expand your routine as you expand your mind as well as your dogs mind. Visit new places, mix things up, change direction here and there and always keep your dog safe. Safety from their point of view that is, not just ours. Laura Vissaritis Instagram - Remember Roger, the beautiful red kangaroo from @thekangaroosanctuary ? Harry reminds me so much of him. We may be all different species, but we are so connected. Whether it’s our appearance, abilities, homes, shared resources… we are all part of one great earth.
Laura Vissaritis Instagram - Many have asked me how I manage to keep Chester as number 1, whilst also giving my all to a newborn… I thought long and hard about that today, because I’ll admit it, it’s tough! I am sleep deprived, I feel like a completely different person sometimes, and it’s hard work having to share your body, your heart, your mind and your attention. Each day I feel a combination of triumph, failure and anxiety wondering if I’m getting it right. But then, there’s love - an overwhelming feeling of commitment, adoration, care and respect that I feel for Chester, Rose, and all my family. Deep love somehow finds room to give more than you ever thought you had to give. I treat Chester and Rose like they’re twins (if you’re a parent to twins/multiple, you are a hero to me!) Somehow everyone gets the attention and care they deserve and need and I believe that is reason why Rose has integrated so seamlessly into this furry family. She has entered a family of deep love. So if you’re ever worried that your fur child may not get the attention and love they need when you have a baby, remember that there is an innate reserve within you of deep and true love that is ready to nurture everyone in your care. It takes more than everything you think you have, but when you find it, nobody gets left behind.

When your dog is looking at you or moving towards you, encourage them to keep coming and praise them. Reinforce with what they value in.e praise treats play all good things 3. Release them back to their own thing 4. Repeat 5. Finish on a high! * Remember training only happens when you have an existing relationship of mutual trust and respect. And that starts in the home. Always start training under low distraction, and slowly work your way up to more. Your dog will let you know when and if they’re ready for the next stage. Set them up for success.

For me, my dogs insist on safe yet novel experiences not just for their physical health but for their mental health too. Here Chester is practising his balance across my dam, as he explores the new smells of the morning. The ducks, the roos, the evening fox droppings are all letters to him about his home and who he shares it with. Try to forget about the dog park or the walk around the block but expand your routine as you expand your mind as well as your dogs mind. Likes : 305Laura Vissaritis - 299 Likes - Many have asked me how I manage to keep Chester as number 1, whilst also giving my all to a newborn… I thought long and hard about that today, because I’ll admit it, it’s tough! I am sleep deprived, I feel like a completely different person sometimes, and it’s hard work having to share your body, your heart, your mind and your attention. Each day I feel a combination of triumph, failure and anxiety wondering if I’m getting it right. But then, there’s love - an overwhelming feeling of commitment, adoration, care and respect that I feel for Chester, Rose, and all my family. Deep love somehow finds room to give more than you ever thought you had to give. I treat Chester and Rose like they’re twins (if you’re a parent to twins/multiple, you are a hero to me!) Somehow everyone gets the attention and care they deserve and need and I believe that is reason why Rose has integrated so seamlessly into this furry family. She has entered a family of deep love. So if you’re ever worried that your fur child may not get the attention and love they need when you have a baby, remember that there is an innate reserve within you of deep and true love that is ready to nurture everyone in your care. It takes more than everything you think you have, but when you find it, nobody gets left behind.

Release them back to their own thing 4. Repeat 5. Finish on a high! * Remember training only happens when you have an existing relationship of mutual trust and respect. And that starts in the home. Always start training under low distraction, and slowly work your way up to more. Your dog will let you know when and if they’re ready for the next stage. Set them up for success.
