“Lydia Lunch showed up performing the material she’d later release on her Oral Fixation record, a pioneer of the spoken word genre (along with former Black Flag singer Henry Rollins - more about him shortly) that would turn out to have real longevity. My photos of her were meant to accompany an article my friend Tim was writing - a paean to the woman who was a kind of nihilist sex symbol in the underground subcultures that had formed since punk rock. So I tried to approach the shoot as something like glamour photography, not dissimilar to the photos I’d take of actress (and onetime Bond Girl) Jane Seymour for a fashion magazine a couple of weeks later.
Bringing along my little portable studio - a light stand and umbrella bounce, a portable flash and a big white painter’s tarp I carried around in a gym bag - I cleared a space in the storage room at the Silver Dollar and found an unbroken bar stool that I placed midway between my tarp backdrop and my flash.” - Rick McGinnis

Lydia Lunch Instagram - LA April 2nd- The Philosophical Research Society will holding the first U.S. Screening of Lydia Lunch & Jasmine Hirsts film: ARTISTS: DEPRESSION, ANXIETY AND RAGE along with a Q&A with Lydia Lunch and Michelle Forbes.

Tickets in Tour Dates icon on main page.

“Artists - Depression, Anxiety, and Rage is a timely expression of faith that through art, community, and an open dialogue about our darkest experiences, not only can we heal, but our loved ones may come to a better understanding of the struggles so many of us have endured.

Jasmine Hirst and I have spent the past two years interviewing musicians, artists, and writers about their lifelong struggles with mental health. The roots of depression run deep. We explore the devastation caused by childhood trauma, neglect, poverty, malnutrition, genetics, chemical imbalance, and existential angst. With this documentary, we strive to present hope to anyone who suffers from depression, anxiety, or rage in the knowledge that they are not alone. There are a variety of methods to be utilized to cope once the darkness does descend.

Art is the salve to the universal wound. Artists split themselves open. They are both offering up and seeking salvation with the revelations they share. I feel I was summoned as oracle, giving voice to encourage others to rage against the soul murder of the individual due to the traumas that remain and from which they still suffer.

So many of us possess a nagging resistance that prevents us from acknowledging the love and acceptance that is offered up to us now because it was denied to us as children. I strive both as an artist and an individual to bring relief to other people by exposing personal wounds in the hope that they will not feel so alone. Because they are not alone.” - Lydia Lunch

Lydia Lunch Instagram - Lydian Spin podcast episode 232: Faith No More alum/MAN ON MAN Member Roddy Bottum

https://lydianspin.libsyn.com/episode-232-faith-no-more-alumman-on-man-member-roddy-bottom

Roddy Bottum, the seasoned Faith No More co-founder and keyboardist, made waves in the early '90s by publicly coming out, which at the time defied norms in the rock scene. In 2012, he shared his experience with Out Magazine, highlighting the excitement and danger of being openly gay at the time. Now, collaborating with boyfriend Joey Holman, Roddy launched MAN ON MAN during COVID isolation, with the aim of staying creatively active. Their debut song, Daddy, challenges gay stereotypes, celebrating love in isolation all the while presenting a raw and unpolished facet of queer community. This past summer they released a new album Provincetown and the duo also concluded a European tour in early December.

Lydia Lunch - 1.4K Likes - LA April 2nd- The Philosophical Research Society will holding the first U.S. Screening of Lydia Lunch & Jasmine Hirsts film: ARTISTS: DEPRESSION, ANXIETY AND RAGE along with a Q&A with Lydia Lunch and Michelle Forbes.

Because they are not alone.” - Lydia Lunch

https://lydianspin.libsyn.com/episode-232-faith-no-more-alumman-on-man-member-roddy-bottom

Finally, wishing you all a holiday season filled with warmth and joy. Your support and enthusiasm is the heartbeat of Lydian Spin and has and continues to be a great gift!
