Rosemary Rodriguez Instagram - I had the gift of working with Matthew Perry on The Good Wife. It hit me hard with yesterday’s news. It’s always strange but on my job as director, I form bonds with actors. It’s the joy of my life. So, I found myself so sad yesterday. My experience was that he was intense, sincere, funny, sarcastic, and committed. He was so nervous to be good enough with Julianna. I saw how great he was at dramatic acting! He was a great nemesis for Alicia Florrick. Julianna did run lines so patiently and generously with him! He was also down to earth. We ate lunch together — not too many actors do that! And we went to a Halloween party together! His loss hits hard. Repost from @juliannamargulies • I’m so sorry life wasn’t easier for you. I witnessed your struggle every day when we worked together and I loved sitting with you and running our lines. RIP Matthew. I hope there is peace now wherever you are. 🩷🩷🩷

Fred Roos was my mentor, my heart, my teacher, my inspiration, my cheerleader and a power of example of how to navigate a tough business and never lose the grace you are born with. He was an Oscar-winner who produced The Godfather movies, Apocalypse Now, The Black Stallion, The Outsiders, Rumblefish, Barfly, Priscilla, St. Vincent….and sooooo many more incredible movies. If you haven’t seen The Godfather 1 and 2, please watch them in honor of Fred. They are both top 10 all time movies! On my first job in LA, Without a Trace, I cast the talented @heatmccomb in my episode. Heather is a generous, huge-hearted human, who wasted no time welcoming me into her life and into her family — and introduced me to Fred, who cast her in her first film and changed her life. I’m so grateful to have a friend like Heather. Fred’s belief in me has kept me going thru the up’s and downs, successes and failures, and always lifted my spirits just by spending time with me. We both loved movies and chocolate. I never took for granted our precious time together. Truth is, I couldn’t believe he would make time in his extremely busy schedule for me. If you can mentor someone, believe in them, help support them to their dreams, DO IT. We all need someone to hold us up, who’s been through it all and has generous wisdom and guidance. Fred exec produced my movie Silver Skies — gifted me with the best cast! And he was going to produce my next movie Gated. I believe he’ll still be helping…. He made movies to the end. He never stopped hustling. Fred turned The Outsiders into a musical on Broadway, that just received 12 Tony nominations! And he produced Megalopolis, that just premiered at Cannes. RIP Fred Roos So many of us loved you deeply. I loved you deeply.

We’re kicking off our festival with the screening of our first feature film, Hail Mary. The screening starts at 7:30pm, and will be followed by our own festival gala! About the film: HAIL MARY is a genre-bending retelling of the Mary and Joseph story that begs the question – who are the real monsters? Fred Roos was my mentor, my heart, my teacher, my inspiration, my cheerleader and a power of example of how to navigate a tough business and never lose the grace you are born with. He was an Oscar-winner who produced The Godfather movies, Apocalypse Now, The Black Stallion, The Outsiders, Rumblefish, Barfly, Priscilla, St. Vincent….and sooooo many more incredible movies. If you haven’t seen The Godfather 1 and 2, please watch them in honor of Fred. They are both top 10 all time movies! On my first job in LA, Without a Trace, I cast the talented @heatmccomb in my episode. Heather is a generous, huge-hearted human, who wasted no time welcoming me into her life and into her family — and introduced me to Fred, who cast her in her first film and changed her life. I’m so grateful to have a friend like Heather. Fred’s belief in me has kept me going thru the up’s and downs, successes and failures, and always lifted my spirits just by spending time with me. We both loved movies and chocolate. I never took for granted our precious time together. Truth is, I couldn’t believe he would make time in his extremely busy schedule for me. If you can mentor someone, believe in them, help support them to their dreams, DO IT. We all need someone to hold us up, who’s been through it all and has generous wisdom and guidance. Fred exec produced my movie Silver Skies — gifted me with the best cast! And he was going to produce my next movie Gated. I believe he’ll still be helping…. He made movies to the end. He never stopped hustling. Fred turned The Outsiders into a musical on Broadway, that just received 12 Tony nominations! And he produced Megalopolis, that just premiered at Cannes. RIP Fred Roos So many of us loved you deeply. I loved you deeply.

About the film: HAIL MARY is a genre-bending retelling of the Mary and Joseph story that begs the question – who are the real monsters? She’s trying to escape a deadly virus and being chased by the right-hand man of the devil (Baal). Along the way she meets Jose, a mediocre carpenter who happens to have helped build a tunnel under the Rio Grande for the Cartels.
