Sarah Lian Instagram - It’s been a whirlwind with this one. There’s so much I want to share about my journey of getting to this place and the timing for both of us for this to happen. We’ve known each other for a long time and it was really “divine” and “ancestral” support that made it all make sense. ❤️ All the books and podcasts and talks about men being serious are true, if they want you, they WILL make it happen. The ones who make excuses are not the ones for you. Remember what you deserve and the Universe will match that energy. I worked on “feeling worthy” for over 3 years. I cried after every failed encounter and allowed myself to learn lessons I needed to move forward. Releasing my pain and cutting the cords made space for so much clarity. When I was ready to finally receive, the right person with the right intention became my perfect match. It’s been such a dream these past months seeing how our lives are now intertwined with each others and he’s really the man I needed to lead me to my next chapter in life. Plus he got the 💍 I wanted. 😘😘😘

Sarah Lian Instagram - It’s officially been a month of being asked“how does it feel to be married” and guys, it feels amazing! Mostly because nothing has changed between us and we’re both back at work. My only revelation is that it does feel different to be married vs being in a long-term relationship. I knew I wanted to get married and be in a traditional union, so being able to ask for what I want and having my dream come true was just wild! Signing documents, opening bank accounts, sharing financial expenses (even disclosing/curbing my spending habit) hits different when you’re a legal entity. Some people will convince you that it’s just a paper and it doesn’t mean much, but only you can determine what having a partner -married or not married- will mean to you. Don’t let anyone make you feel small about it. When you find someone who is aligned with the similar values and importance placed on similar needs, it will feel right and it will make sense. It was the courage to speak it out that was the hardest for me, but it got me here. I saw how my family came together and took on different roles leading up to the wedding and even more blessed that they flew over multiple countries and flights to be a part of this big day. Plus, my brothers giving speeches, my sister overcoming her fear of attention and my mom looking so stunning at all of the events made me feel so loved, not to mention pops singing in the evening- yes he sang. They are all core memories anchored in my heart forever. (Still waiting for the rest of the pics to come but I wanted to share these for now!) PS. A little shoutout to @paxfloralstudio for being meticulous and being such great executors of my visual references. Especially my beautiful bouquet that I couldn’t stop admiring- it was the white peonies for me. 📷: @jonlowstudios

Sarah Lian Instagram - Over the weekend, I said goodbye to my first car. With all the moving back and forth over 4 cities between Vancouver, Toronto, HK and KL, I was 30 when I finally decided to settle down in Malaysia and I bought my very first car. It was a little emotional for me cuz I’ve had this car for 9 years and it was a symbol of my independence and freedom. Parting ways with my first car feels like the end of an era. So many memories, road trips, late-night drives, long distance recces for @supparetreat and quiet moments spent together. I was usually the designated driver among my friends and would do lots of pickups for my car-less friends. (Pay-it-forward for all the times my guy friends would give me rides) Turning a new chapter now, and thanking Henry (yes I named him after my dad’s unused English name) for all the kms we spent together. ❤️ (Thanks hubby for capturing this) Also…. are you someone that has an emotional bond with your car? Sarah Lian Instagram - This time last year I was in a dark place, I questioned everything including my existence, my failed relationships, my recurring wounds. It was a milestone year and I made it a point to fully embrace who I was and accept that the only thing I could control was myself and what I wanted to invite into my life. After multiple retreats, both hosting and attending, participating in workshops to help me self-reflect in a safe space, so many realisations taught me to shift my perspective and allow the love of my life to be seen. This community has had a front row seat to my silly stories, antics and mistakes. You have seen me go through my worst and feel the unworthiness cloaked over my back. In many moments, I have felt unqualified to lead but this community has shown me that the right intentions and the purest heart trumps the brokenness we feel. The lifelong friendships that have been derived from this community has ben gold. My call is for those who feel helpless, aimless or doubtful, to consider working on yourself and build more awareness to work on the wounds that have been making choices for you. When you start choosing yourself, everything can change. #supparetreat #bettertogether

Sarah Lian Instagram - Cleansing and preparing with 🛁🌸🌺🌼 Kak Ida (everyone’s bidan) helped prepare me for my big day with a mandi bunga. This was the first time I experienced traditional ritual for cleansing and nourishing energy. Flower baths help to flush the body of negative energies. The body becomes an open channel for fresh beginnings. It is believed that this ritual is best performed during the full moon. We felt incredibly lucky being able to experience this together and it was as though God was listening to us and decided to gift us these few days of memories. The scenic places in Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu were next level. Every corner was a “wow” moment. Even though we came during their rainy season we didn’t have to worry about rain during our treks to the mountain. The route to Machu Picchu consists of a train and a bus so you don’t have to worry about insane hikes, unless you sign up to a 3 hour hike to the Machu Picchu mountain. 😅 #neverforget Food is delicious except I can’t get past the cute guinea pigs so it was a hard no, but ceviche and the most delicious vegan tacos were hard to forget about. I’m obsessed with Baby Alpaca fabrics and now Hubby is gonna work extra hard for us to buy vicuña when we come back to visit this city again. I think Ayuhuasca is also in the plan since we only did cacao this time around. We started taking altitude prevention pills 4 days prior to arriving at Cusco so we didn’t get any altitude sickness while we were here, that’s my suggestion if you decide to go. It’s quite affordable here considering all the other places that we’ve visited on this trip. #cusco #peru #machupicchu

Mostly because nothing has changed between us and we’re both back at work. My only revelation is that it does feel different to be married vs being in a long-term relationship. I knew I wanted to get married and be in a traditional union, so being able to ask for what I want and having my dream come true was just wild! Signing documents, opening bank accounts, sharing financial expenses (even disclosing/curbing my spending habit) hits different when you’re a legal entity. Some people will convince you that it’s just a paper and it doesn’t mean much, but only you can determine what having a partner -married or not married- will mean to you. Don’t let anyone make you feel small about it. When you find someone who is aligned with the similar values and importance placed on similar needs, it will feel right and it will make sense. It was the courage to speak it out that was the hardest for me, but it got me here. I saw how my family came together and took on different roles leading up to the wedding and even more blessed that they flew over multiple countries and flights to be a part of this big day. Plus, my brothers giving speeches, my sister overcoming her fear of attention and my mom looking so stunning at all of the events made me feel so loved, not to mention pops singing in the evening- yes he sang. They are all core memories anchored in my heart forever. (Still waiting for the rest of the pics to come but I wanted to share these for now!) PS. A little shoutout to @paxfloralstudio for being meticulous and being such great executors of my visual references. It was a little emotional for me cuz I’ve had this car for 9 years and it was a symbol of my independence and freedom. Parting ways with my first car feels like the end of an era. So many memories, road trips, late-night drives, long distance recces for @supparetreat and quiet moments spent together. Friends that have seen my questionable phases and eras, friends who know about the most important things in my life- Photoshop and Halloween. 👻 I discovered @onsenatmoncham located about an hour away from Chiang Mai and was instantly transported to a Japanese Cultural Retreat. Friends that have seen my questionable phases and eras, friends who know about the most important things in my life- Photoshop and Halloween. 👻 I discovered @onsenatmoncham located about an hour away from Chiang Mai and was instantly transported to a Japanese Cultural Retreat. We had kimonos to wear to the onsen and sleeping clothes during the turn down service.
