Scott Clifton Instagram - The Colosseum. Only touristy thing I got to do, but having the privilege of taking the tour after hours, when the arena is so quiet you can hear a pin drop—that was really something. I kept asking if they’d let me and @lsaintvic do battle, but apparently that’s frowned upon nowadays.

Scott Clifton Instagram - “Who needs hair, hair is dumb.”

—Socrates, probably.
Scott Clifton Instagram - I found myself thinking about this guy today. Fatherhood can mean so many different things, and there isn’t just one kind. Today, some people are celebrating their biological dads; others, their stepdads, surrogate dads, adoptive dads, godfathers, mentors, religious figures, and so on. But I think it’s rare to have someone come into your life, long after you’ve reached adulthood, and become a father-figure instantly. Don is my friend, colleague, confidant—but he’s also my dad, even when the cameras stop rolling. He’s advised me, protected me, scolded me, and cheered me on. If I have a health problem, he won’t leave me alone until I see a doctor about it; if I fail to act with integrity, he admonishes me to make it right; if I bullshit him, he knows it. He’s my dad. And it’s not because I’m special; it’s because he is.

I had a wonderful father growing up. Ronald Scott Snyder is who I always wanted to be as a child, and who I’ve slowly become as a man. But most people don’t have just one father, and I hope that you, whoever you are, take today to reflect on all your dads—all the men in your life who made you who you are, or have kept you who you want to be. It may not always take a village, but sometimes we’re lucky enough to get one.

Happy Fathers Day to you and yours.
Scott Clifton Instagram - My son is five years old. It’s a sentence I half-expected would come prancing out of my mouth like a Broadway diva waiting far too long in the wings, but opening night always felt so far away. He’s no longer a baby, or even a toddler. Today, as I see him at least, Ford makes his debut as a boy.

I have memories of myself earlier than five, of course, but this was the age I truly began to form complete, enduring, robust memories of my own. And I can’t help but parent by way of analogy: the sense I have of what it’s like to be Ford at any given age is inextricably tied to my own memories of that same time. I remember being five in a way I don’t quite remember being four, or three—I remember the person I was, the wishes I had for the future, the sense of being an autonomous person in the world. And so too, I imagine, will a 36-year-old Ford.

This is it, kid. You’re on record, now. Your life, your history, is no longer anyone else’s to narrate for you—it’s your story to tell, and remember.

May you be a protagonist we, and you, can root for; may your scars be few and your regrets useful; may you be kind to the people you will become and compassionate toward the people you once were; may you love, and accept love, freely; may you strive to be the best at something you cherish; may you always be good to children and animals; may you never stop tinkering with your philosophy like a careful watchmaker; and may you find happiness—real happiness—in all its exquisite incarnations.

I love you, my sweet son. The stage is yours. Now break a leg.

Scott Clifton Instagram - On a technicality, daytime dramas aren’t affected by the SAG/AFTRA strike, as they fall under a different kind of contract. So I’m counting my blessings to be able to work at a time when so many of our fellow actors are out here every day, sacrificing all comfort (both financial and physical) and taking an absolute beating from the July sun to ensure a better, fairer future for the performers—and writers—who make the films and shows we love possible. It was a joy to tag along today.

Shoutout to @alisonhaislip for showing me how to picket like a pro. #sagaftrastrong

Scott Clifton Instagram - Addressing once again the increasingly dangerous imposter problem on social media. A few things I forgot to mention in the video:

1. If you come across an imposter account, PLEASE block and report them.

2. I don’t use TikTok, Facebook, or anything besides Instagram for connecting/sharing with fans.

3. Read someone’s handle closely: if it’s not @cliftoncam exactly, it ain’t me. Look for underscores, hyphens, numbers, etc. Dead giveaway.

4. Ask strangers to prove they are who they say they are. Think critically about whether what they tell you *actually* proves what it’s supposed to.

5. Please spread the word!

Scott Clifton Instagram - I don’t know how or when the reality of this is going to hit me, but while I’m still numb let me say a few things about Tyler as an actor and as a man.

Because of their nature, soaps can make an actor feel “stuck”. The repetition, the silly but necessary exposition, the absence of any real conclusion to a character arc, the foreknowledge that the first take without a boom shadow is the one the world will see immortalized—these truths about our job can often cultivate bad professional habits, and sometimes even cynicism. As an entertainment business, soaps are an impressively well-oiled machine. But as an art form, the incentives are all wrong. We forget to take risks, to have fun, to make strong choices, and worse, we stop wanting to give it everything we have in us to give.

But not Tyler. Not for a second, ever.

I loved watching him work. God damn, I wish I could be on set with him one last time. Every moment he was on camera was organic, and surprising, and dangerous. If the camera got caught on a cable and the scene had to be done again, he’d give a different performance than before, even when the first was brilliant.

Tyler was, by his own jovial admission, a “bro”. He loved his boys; he loved his parties; he loved his football and beer and fart jokes—which made it all the more paradoxical how exquisitely vulnerable he could be. The man had such precise, controlled access to his own pain, fear, love, and anger. I never knew whether to think of him as an artist or as a scientist.

Many of his fans tragically only knew him as Nikolas Cassadine or Connor Bishop. But Tyler was a genuine character actor. I loved going to see whatever small play he was doing in the local blackbox theater, because I never knew what I was in for—he created characters that were wholly unique in their physicality, speech, and tone. I’d find myself wanting to mimic his performance in the days and weeks hence.

Tyler named his dog Brando, after his hero. But permit me this heresy: he was better than Brando. He was better than most of us. And in the last few days, I’ve begun to think a lot about what the name “Christopher” means to me.

Thank you, Tyler. You earned your rest.

Scott Clifton Instagram - This may have been the highlight of my entire trip. You may not recognize these faces, but in Italy these are the voices of Liam, Steffy and Hope: Emiliano Coltori @querenzio (Liam), Ilaria Stagni @stagniilaria (Steffy) and Valentina Mari (Hope).

There is a reason the show is so successful overseas, and it’s because of how much time, thought and care is put into the dubbing.

I’d been waiting 13 years to meet Emiliano, specifically: he’s my invisible teammate—literally the other half of my performance in every episode. And we connected instantly, because how could we not? He knows my habits, mannerisms, and speech patterns better than I do, because he has to study and emulate them every day. It was so fulfilling to bond over this shared identity, and he was gracious enough to answer hours of my obnoxious questions.

Not to mention the chemistry between the three of them in person was infectious. It felt like stepping into a parallel universe.

What a thing.

Scott Clifton Instagram - Much needed last-minute camping trip in Joshua Tree with my two hetero-lifemates @thomasjankas and @trenttrail. (We all got covid-tested beforehand and slept in separate tents, to be safe.) Tom brought his new fancy camera and became our resident photographer, leaving us with some of these gems. (He kept trying to give all the credit to the camera, but the man’s got a hidden talent.) Trent and I mostly drank beer, reminisced about the good old days in acting class, and playfully argued over whether the sunset proved God’s existence. It was a good reminder that whatever else happens to be consuming us—politically, economically, socially—nature and all its quiescent beauty will always be there, waiting to be rediscovered.

It reminded me still have one in the attic somewhere, and he begged me to find it once we got home. Ford’s been playing it every night after dinner, with his favorite Roblox songs in the background. (If you’re a parent, you know.) And yes, I can’t play it without making this stupid face.
Scott Clifton Instagram - I pass these guys on my drive to work all the time. I suppose we both have to get up early so we can feed our families.
Scott Clifton Instagram - My all-time favorite bakery from NYC opened a shop in Los Angeles this weekend.

Some days you really need a win. Today I got one. 🍪
Scott Clifton Instagram - First thing’s first: The Grand Hotel Plaza. What a place to call home for the week. It wasn’t just our rooms; they gave us our production office, makeup room, wardrobe… these guys made us feel like royalty—which I began to suspect wasn’t even ‘special treatment,’ since the whole place was like a palace.

And the *views*. I loved decompressing on my little patio balcony every day after wrapping, just watching the sunset and taking Rome in (after raiding the mini-bar. Don’t judge).

Thanks for everything, @grandhotelplaza.

Scott Clifton Instagram - Definition of a life well-lived, isn’t he? (My phone autocorrected “lived” to “loved” and for once it’s just as apt.) What a privilege it was, not only to work with him, not only to marvel at his wit and vitality even at 90 years old, but to have a once-in-a-lifetime private conversation with the man about his passion for animal ethics. His views were infinitely more nuanced and thoughtful than the catchphrase about spaying and neutering he made famous; he loved—truly loved—all animals, and the way he navigated the moral labyrinth of our relationship with them was just beautiful. He informed my own views—about breeding, euthanasia, healthcare, and how we ought to view our ownership of another sentient being. I wish every one of you could have met him, if only for a handshake. We’ll mourn him, but the best pieces of this exquisite man will stay forever with us. Rest in Peace, Mr. Barker.
Scott Clifton Instagram - Showers waste water. Save the planet; get a cat.
Scott Clifton Instagram - Each time I’ve tried to post about this over the last few days, I had to stop because I couldn’t see through the tears. So here goes attempt number three, and I’ll give it to you straight: This is @evabasler—VP of Communications and Talent Relations for Bold & Beautiful (i.e., our head publicist). Eva is battling cancer—something she never wanted any of us to know or worry about—and we almost lost her recently. I can’t begin to describe how important this beautiful woman is to all of us. I can’t begin to tell you what her wisdom and prescience has saved me from, and carried me through, both personally and professionally. I can’t begin to tell you how much losing her would impact *your* experience of our show, and how we connect with you off-screen. I can’t begin to tell you what a beacon of hope, grace, compassion and positivity she is. Those words don’t exist, but these ones do: Eva and her family need our help. Please, if you can spare a moment, visit her GoFundMe (courtesy of John & Laurette McCook—link in my bio), read her story, and spare whatever, if anything, you can. This is our lighthouse.

Only touristy thing I got to do, but having the privilege of taking the tour after hours, when the arena is so quiet you can hear a pin drop—that was really something. I kept asking if they’d let me and @lsaintvic do battle, but apparently that’s frowned upon nowadays.

Scott Clifton - 15.3K Likes - I found myself thinking about this guy today.

Scott Clifton - 14.3K Likes - My son is five years old.

Scott Clifton - 11.8K Likes - On a technicality, daytime dramas aren’t affected by the SAG/AFTRA strike, as they fall under a different kind of contract.

Scott Clifton - 8.5K Likes - I don’t know how or when the reality of this is going to hit me, but while I’m still numb let me say a few things about Tyler as an actor and as a man.

Scott Clifton - 6.6K Likes - This may have been the highlight of my entire trip.

Scott Clifton - 6.3K Likes - Much needed last-minute camping trip in Joshua Tree with my two hetero-lifemates @thomasjankas and @trenttrail.

Ford and I strolled into a Guitar Center the other day and were having some fun in the percussion section when he discovered one of these, eyes wide with wonder. It reminded me still have one in the attic somewhere, and he begged me to find it once we got home. Ford’s been playing it every night after dinner, with his favorite Roblox songs in the background. (If you’re a parent, you know.) And yes, I can’t play it without making this stupid face.

Scott Clifton - 5.1K Likes - Definition of a life well-lived, isn’t he? Barker.
