Walk more, as it balances out the wine and carbs. Carbs in Europe arenā€™t the same as carbs in the US. Wine is way better and tauntingly affordable as well.Find saunas to sweat it out. Walk even more. Travel buddies are the best. Especially on trains. Donā€™t look down at your phone for directions in the metro on the stairs if you donā€™t want to tumble twenty cement stairs. Make sure to look up. Then make sure look up even higher at the way the clouds dress the sky behind ornate architecture. A quiet day in a beautiful place full of history and culture is never boring. Just absorbing the world around you can feel like an accomplishment in an unknown place. Learn other languages. Write often. Reach out to friends of friends. You never know who youā€™ll meet along the way, so stay open. Watch your back. And your backpack. Find bodies of water as often as possible. And trees. And thank them. Dance whenever you can. Audiobooks are a galā€™s best friend. Walk even more still. Make sure you know how to drive stick-shift. Pack even less, cause storied clothes from adventures are much more fun. Getting lost on purpose shows you you know the way. One can push the limits of consumption. Leave time for stillness. So consumption can lead to creation. Sometimes reality isnā€™t always as fabulous as fantasy. And sometimes it is. So find out. Because magic is real. And so are mental breakdowns amidst the magic. And when things fall apart, it is just a part of the process. So donā€™t judge it or you with your umbrella cane until youā€™re walking straight again. Scottie Thompson Instagram - Another year And Iā€™m still here Heart full Grateful Soul full Sparkle ā€¢ ā€¢ ā€¢ I woke up today feeling more whole in my self than ever. They say that happens with age, and I guess such sayings exist for a reason. All of the lessons, trials and tribulations of existence allowing me to be more free to be who I am. There is a grace I am discovering with time on this beautiful earth; a capacity for compassion and forgiveness of flaws. A letting go of proving and perfection and inviting in of possibility. And, most importantly, if aging has taught me nothing else, it is that it is truly a gift to wake up , alive and healthy every day. We are in such challenging times, and I feel so blessed to wake up and to spend the days surrounded by the love of family and friends near and far. Also, what a gift to wake up to the best birthday present imaginable: the end of the SAG AFTRA strike! I am so immensely thankful for the tireless efforts of our negotiating committee, captains, union members as well as other unions for standing in solidarity, in order that we finally be valued and respected for our work. I am so lucky to do what I love with my life, and Iā€™m grateful that these new terms shall enable myself and all of my fellow union members to earn a living at what we love. And as I enter into this new spin around the sun, I am calling in all of the soul sparkle imaginable. And grounding that sparkle onto this earth plane so that I may actualize with sparkle evermore authentically in my life and work, in soul purpose. May I have the courage to sit with what is and transmute the pain and joy into meaningful creation. I pray for peace and compassion. Scottie Thompson Instagram - Solstice musingsā€¦ Spent last week drinking clay and psyllium husk and mineral broth, and the weekend with plant medicine. Cleaning out my system and clearing up my vision. I am humbled by the process. These bodies, sacred soul vessels we have the blessing to inhabit for a brief moment in time here, are so precious and so much more intelligent than we know, thanks to our souls guiding them without our always even knowing. It is never an easy thing to purge out (literally) all that pyshical and psychological gunk that piles up in life with time, especially in our challenging modern world with information and atrocity streaking across our psyches constantly. Yet the more I honor this need to slow it down, examine it and let it go, the lighter I become in my being and the more that allows me to simply be. An ongoing process that seems to build upon itself, as life builds upon us and we adjust. I am slowly seeing what it means to hand it over to resources beyond myself, even though the trust piece remains a mystery me. Just hand it over, knowing there is support, and finding the pulse of the warrior within (or shall we break that down to with in, with what is inside). And just in time for winter. To sit with the stillness that births new life. Make sure to look up. Then make sure look up even higher at the way the clouds dress the sky behind ornate architecture. A quiet day in a beautiful place full of history and culture is never boring. Just absorbing the world around you can feel like an accomplishment in an unknown place. Learn other languages. Write often. Reach out to friends of friends. You never know who youā€™ll meet along the way, so stay open. Watch your back. And your backpack. Find bodies of water as often as possible. And trees. And thank them. Dance whenever you can. Audiobooks are a galā€™s best friend. Walk even more still. Make sure you know how to drive stick-shift. Pack even less, cause storied clothes from adventures are much more fun. Getting lost on purpose shows you you know the way. One can push the limits of consumption. Leave time for stillness. So consumption can lead to creation. Sometimes reality isnā€™t always as fabulous as fantasy. And sometimes it is. So find out. Because magic is real. And so are mental breakdowns amidst the magic. And when things fall apart, it is just a part of the process. So donā€™t judge it or you with your umbrella cane until youā€™re walking straight again. We are in such challenging times, and I feel so blessed to wake up and to spend the days surrounded by the love of family and friends near and far. Also, what a gift to wake up to the best birthday present imaginable: the end of the SAG AFTRA strike! I am so immensely thankful for the tireless efforts of our negotiating committee, captains, union members as well as other unions for standing in solidarity, in order that we finally be valued and respected for our work. I am so lucky to do what I love with my life, and Iā€™m grateful that these new terms shall enable myself and all of my fellow union members to earn a living at what we love. And as I enter into this new spin around the sun, I am calling in all of the soul sparkle imaginable. And grounding that sparkle onto this earth plane so that I may actualize with sparkle evermore authentically in my life and work, in soul purpose. May I have the courage to sit with what is and transmute the pain and joy into meaningful creation. I pray for peace and compassion. They say that happens with age, and I guess such sayings exist for a reason. All of the lessons, trials and tribulations of existence allowing me to be more free to be who I am. There is a grace I am discovering with time on this beautiful earth; a capacity for compassion and forgiveness of flaws. A letting go of proving and perfection and inviting in of possibility. And, most importantly, if aging has taught me nothing else, it is that it is truly a gift to wake up , alive and healthy every day. We are in such challenging times, and I feel so blessed to wake up and to spend the days surrounded by the love of family and friends near and far. I have shared bits of my adventure back in September when I attended the Indigenous Womenā€™s March. But before we went there, I went with a delegation of incredible women with Amazon Watch, one of my favorite non-profits. Their years of working with Indigenous communities throughout the Amazon basin afforded our group a truly unique opportunity to step into the heart of the Amazon, thanks to the hard work of warrior women like @leilasalazar2012 at Amazon Watch, as well as the impeccably curated experience led my @maira.irigaray at @in_samauma , who herself used to work with @amazonwatch . We were blessed by communities such as the village of BraganƧa welcoming us in, shared in prayers of protection with a shaman of the TupinambĆ” people, and swam in pristine clear IgarapĆ© waters deep within the jungle. It was a dream adventure, and one that allowed me to experientially grasp the power and beauty of this sacred place on earth, and the absolute necessity of protecting her. I wanted to share images of the profound beauty I had the incredible honor of experiencing, as well as horrifying images of the draught that touched the same shores on which I had danced just a month earlier.
