Thomas Ridgewell Instagram - No, I'm not Charlie fuckin' Chaplin. Being a large unit I really hate the idea of, even subconsciously, being assessed as merely a fat take on whatever I'm dressed as. So, whenever I receive an invite to a costume/themed party, I give myself the limitation of only dressing as historically fat characters or figures. 1920s themed party? That leaves me Al Capone or Oliver Hardy. Circus theme? Bearded lady. Royalty? Henry VII. Santa Claus. The Fat Controller. You get the idea. Why, even for a second, allow someone to relegate me to the status of an imposter? To internally accuse me of pretending to be something I'm far too fat to ever pass off convincingly? Of course, I know full well that everyone can and should wear whatever they want and in reality so few people would think the way I'm describing. However, a lifetime of gaining and losing weight, both in the public eye and in a family with a very self-loathing approach to fatness, has made my relationship with my own body one of obsessive awareness and scrutiny. I don't want my "struggles" with my weight to be a topic of discussion anymore - I've kept that to myself for over a year now - but how I inhabit this body is an entirely different conversation. Anyway, happy new year. Here's to overcoming insecurity and self-destructive habits in 2020!

Thomas Ridgewell Instagram - I was really feeling my look in this vlog so I wanted to share some unadulterated self confidence with ya! Being as overweight as I am I often try my hardest to blend in and be unseen - dress in all black and hope no one notices that Iā€™m hiding over 100lbs of life-shortening chub under my XXL outfit. But recently Iā€™ve decided to stop trying to hide away and left myself stand out for a change. I dyed my hair, grew out my beard, and bought myself a super bulky leather jacket. People have been giving me weird looks even more than usual but instead of feeling like an outcast I feel more like a rebel. It actually felt fucking cool for a change and knew people werenā€™t just looking at me because I was fat but because I also had the nerve to exist so loudly. I dunno, Iā€™m probably just being a pretentious lolcow but it was welcome deviation from my self-loathing norm. And yeah, I would prefer to be far slimmer, but I canā€™t and wonā€™t complain about my weight until Iā€™m doing something to turn it around again. Thanks for reading x

Thomas Ridgewell Instagram - It's my friend's birthday today. He would've been 28. I'd write some sappy, sentimental monologue to prove how close we were but the truth is: I barely remember the time we spent together anymore. I spent so much time running from his death that I forgot what he was like when he was alive. Hell, I barely remember what I was like back then. I wish I'd cherished our friendship more when I still had the chance; it feels like I put more effort into it after he was gone than when he was actually here. I was so arrogant to think there'd always be time. I'll miss him until I run out of time too.

However, now that I have my own house I absolutely LOVE throwing up decorations and greeting all the kids at the door. I never realised just how many children actually took part in trick-or-treating in England but we easily got well over 100 visitors. That said, I have NO idea what you're supposed to say when you open the door so I end up saying some weird shit like "greetings, children!" in a deep booming voice. Why am I like this?

Thomas Ridgewell Instagram - It's always sad to say goodbye, but sometimes it's for the best. Tomee Bear's journey started around 14 years ago with my earliest appearance in Edd's work as a character named "Tomee" in his series "Bendee Stick". Although the series ended, the name "Tomee" stuck around and soon a teddy bear with a similar design and name started appearing in the background of his new series, "Eddsworld". After a few years, a fan gave Edd a handmade Tomee Bear at a convention and not long after (in 2010) he gifted it to me and I kept the tradition of tucking the old guy into the background of my videos up until this day. However, it's time to move on with my life and that means letting go of some old traditions. Instead of leaving ol' Tomee here resting on a shelf like the other relics of my career I'd rather he find a new life with a new life. That's why I've entrusted him to look over @eddiebowley's soon-to-be son, Rik. May the little bugger not tear his head off within minutes. So long, old friend, and farewell.

It's ugly, it's upsetting, and it's worrying. I have a few more like this one from across the years but I almost never post them because I don't want people to worry. However, I still have such a strong urge to express myself and how I feel which is why I decided to write a comic about it. I just released the first (and hopefully not last (which is a weird thing to say given the subject matter)) instalment of "TomSka is Sad". Instead of leaving ol' Tomee here resting on a shelf like the other relics of my career I'd rather he find a new life with a new life. However, I still have such a strong urge to express myself and how I feel which is why I decided to write a comic about it. I just released the first (and hopefully not last (which is a weird thing to say given the subject matter)) instalment of "TomSka is Sad". A comic about my ongoing relationship with depression, grief, and unhealthy coping mechanisms. You can find it on my Tumblr (thetomska) if you're interested. I'm really proud of it. It's not a cry for help and - much like this photo - not an accurate representation of my current mental state. But it's all somewhat true and I'm glad I could share it with you.
