Caption : LOVE it or HATE it everyone’s talking about it. 💅💅💅 I’m so grateful to @freakcouturemcr for believing in my vision, working with the most difficult fabric in the world & making my invisible gown. The fabric is so sheer that it disappears agains my skin. This look is very special to me and although it was originally intended for another runway category (I’ll explain another time), I couldn’t resist wearing it for the finale. Blending masculinity and femininity into one look & truly blurring the lines of gender expression this look is a big middle finger to the kids in school that nicknamed me ‘girl-boy’ or ‘boy-girl’, depending on what gender they decided I was that day. What is it? Is it a boy or a girl? Fuck you all 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚Likes : 28186

Caption : Red Carpet Showstopper. This look, in part was to pay homage to my mum and her sisters. Being an 80’s baby, I was around this kind of hairstyle A LOT in my family and wanted to celebrate my mum and all my aunties who rocked the perm. Fran, Anne, Eileen, Cathy, Jeanette & Mary. This runway was for you! Love you 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚 #wearefamily Added background info on the look. creation #Howimadeit I didn’t cope very well with the lockdown after production shut down on season 2. In May 2020 I tried to keep myself busy with sewing projects to ‘elevate’ my drag for my season 2 return but I had no work, no money and no contacts. I had to keep my drag race journey a secret from everyone and it took a mental toll. Taking the NDA too seriously and not telling my friends, family and housemates put one of the biggest mental strains on me in my life. I felt isolated, helpless and alone. Im not a designer. I taught myself to sew specifically for drag race using a lot of YouTube tutorials. I saw this cute dress I liked and wanted to recreate it with my own spin on it. Project ‘Ray of sunshine’ as I called it was to try to keep me upbeat during the lockdown, hence the sunshine colour scheme. (I was not aware that a dress similar had been worn on the runway of Drag Race U.S until AFTER I completed the dress but oh well, we live and we learn). The Ill fitting critique was a valid one. I saved every spare penny I had over the summer and finally bought my own proper mannequin to replace the shoddy, too short and wonky shop window one I had been using so that I could get better at creating my own garments. #dragisart 📷 @daveytyy 📸 @retoucher_ryan edit and retouching 💇🏼♀️ @emmarigby_pro 👗 @veronicaqween made by me. Caption : I woke up like this. This sentence was the key element for this look and it was the first thing Ru said as I turned the corner to walk the runway! Michelle got the festival reference spot on (so don’t know why she contradicted herself by saying she didn’t get it) & what you didn’t see was Graham tell me this was a strong look. Despite all of that, I do take all of the judges criticism on board because it was deserved. With any more money of course there would have been a reveal and my makeup was rushed as I spent ALL of my time working on the design look just to get it finished so overall, yes this could have been presented so much better & I’ve only myself to blame. Having said that, I’m really happy with what I presented on the runway. I went for a fashion silhouette for a change & felt that adding extra bells and whistles would make it too costumey. It took me, @fantasyqween & @jennydeedesign weeks to find a pair of heeled wellies to shut up the ‘not wearing flats on drag race runway brigade’ & I adore my little orphan Annie hair by @florencias_wigs. This was my very first piece worn by a fashion designer too so I guess I’m now cursed to only wear my own creations 😂. Made from 2 actual sleeping bags, I absolutely love this look by @freakcouturemcr thanks for helping me out when I was (as @nicolacoughlan said – “Strapped for cash”) 💇🏼♀️ @florencias_wigs 👗 @freakcouturemcr 👢 @hunterboots 📷 @daveytyy 📸 @retoucher_ryan Thanks to @pixs78 for assisting on the shootLikes : 16064

Caption : Project ‘Ray of Sunshine’. May 2020 was when I first started to feel like I was heading into a dark place & making this dress was an attempt to pull myself out. With no money to spare I managed to find the cheapest 2 bolts of tulle & leftover satin I had lying around the house, followed a YouTube tutorial & made a dress. My mannequin was oversized, yet too short and wonky. After making this dress I saved EVERY spare penny I had to get myself a proper mannequin to finally start making garments that fit properly. I’m so proud of my journey and to think I only started learning to sew SPECIFICALLY for drag race, makes me even more proud. I’m a novice that was judged like sewing was my craft. I truly faked it until I made it! 💚 💇🏼♀️ @emmarigby_pro 👗 @veronicaqweenLikes : 11387

Caption : My favourite things: Computer Games. I’ve been a gamer most of my life. From the early days of the Amiga 500 then playing Ocarina of time on the N64 over and over again in the late 90’s. I owned a GameCube in uni and spent most of my time in the late 2000’s addicted to world of Warcraft and nowadays I spend my free time playing League of Legends. This specific look was originally intended as a season two runway (Day at the seaside). The original concept centred around my college time living in Blackpool. I’d go down to the arcades EVERY DAY and play on the dance machines. The original design included a few different elements such as a reel of arcade tickets in the bumbag amongst other things. With very little money to pay for new runway looks I took a chance and decided to repurpose the look for the runway on season 3. Although it’s not my favorite look I’ve ever done I still enjoy it. #CyberChic #CyberChick 💇🏼♀️ @websterwigs and dressed by me 📷 @daveytyy 📸 @alexcontefilms edit and retouching With thanks to @pixs78 for assisting on the dayLikes : 9398

Caption : Queen of my hometown: Rochdale When choosing my look for season 3 it was very important for me to pick something I can say makes me proud to be Rochdalian. Rochdale is known for being Rough, Raw and Real but also we’re pretty radical and during the American civil war, we were on the right side of history when the Rochdale cotton mill workers went on strike, refusing to handle slave grown cotton in support for the anti-slavery campaign and blockades of the southern states cotton exports. Words taken from the @bbc arts and culture website on black cultural history: Rochdale had a long history of working class radicalism. It had been one of the hot beds of the abolitionists and the anti-slavery movement. This plaque (pictured) commemorates the Rochdale mill workers who supported the struggle against slavery during the American Civil War. It is located by a road still called today what it was known as then–”Cotton Famine Road” (pictured). The road was cut across the landscape by unemployed workers from Lancashire in a public works scheme – a response to the humanitarian crisis that was unfolding in the region. The plaque was created by BBC History and is one of twenty placed around the world for the series Black and British: A Forgotten History. Although it wasn’t my intent to make a political statement with this look, I know my hometowns history and after a few words of advice from friends, fans and peers was encouraged to share this forgotten history. My only regret is not bringing this message into the episode itself. 💚🤎💚 Full cotton bodice made by @moirastansfield and embellished by me. 💇🏼♀️ @websterwigs and dressed by me 📷 @daveytyy 📸 @retoucher_ryan photo editing and retouching With additional thanks to everyone who assisted on the shoot: @johndawsonphotographer @artsmontage @pixs78Likes : 8872

Caption : A couple of months ago I attended the @attitudemag awards. It was my FIRST time attending an awards ceremony & I had such a good time I totally forgot to post about it 🤦🏼♀️ Thanks so much to @jshaw_photography for the 📸📸📸 & @carlbrownhair for the 💇🏼♀️ #funfacts 1) This look would have been my Scene Stealers Runway look on season 3. 2) I made this dress from scratch in my hotel room during the competition. My fabric didn’t arrive until just before I was leaving for #dragraceuk so it was a very tense time not having all my runway looks #runwayready Anyone who knows my drag inspirations, knows one of my biggest idols is @tracilords so it seemed fitting to pay tribute to her on the main stage. Sadly the look didn’t walk the runway but I plan on making an elevated version someday so who knows? Maybe an iteration of it will appear on screen in the future? P.S thanks @jennydeedesign for lending me your jacket at short notice…I should really give it back 🥰 💚💚💚Likes : 6733

Caption : I’ve been away from socials for a while. Stuck in a rut, feeling uninspired with hair & makeup. I’ve been experimenting with different eye shadow colours, brow shapes, placements & even played around with blush, contour & highlights but today was the first time I felt like I’d gotten something right. I know this is neutral colours, i’ve not done anything crazy & it’s by no means revolutionary, but for the first time in a long time I looked at my finished makeup & actually enjoyed the work I’d done, so I figured it was time to start sharing again. I’ll be back on insta more regularly eventually, but for now, you can find me over on Twitch – go and give @veronicaqween a follow over there. Lots of love 💚💚💚Likes : 6375
