She undertook the internship as part her study, helping the policy team with bill briefs, speeches, tracking announcements in the lead up to the budget and research on how to better tackle the domestic violence crisis in Australia as well as vaping reforms. Key benefits include: 🤰Longer initial antenatal appointments (90 mins) 👶 New items for antenatal and complex care 👩‍👧 90-minute postnatal appointments for birth debriefing, mental health, and domestic violence screening. These are changes I have advocated for, with additional improvements on the way, including allowing midwives and nurse practitioners to prescribe PBS medicines and offer more Medicare services - making it easier for women to access high-quality care where and when they need it.

It is also the 7th Anniversary of the Uluru Statement from the Heart - the generous invitation from First Nations peoples to walk together for a better future. The Uluru Statement calls for action on voice, treaties and truth-telling and while the Voice Referendum was not successful, we must not let it diminish our determination to do better as individuals and in our communities for and with First Nations peoples.

I have sensible amendments and will be meeting with the Minister today to discuss them. We are in a vital decade to better protect our environment and need stronger legislation. I am also wearing my stripes for climate action as the World is heating up at an alarming rate. Strong climate pollution mitigation policy is vital. That means a strong 2035 emissions reduction target and plans for every sector to decarbonise asap. The Coalition does not have a climate mitigation policy, is simply ignoring the growing risks from climate change and wants to further delay action. We need mature and detailed policy. Zali Stegall Instagram - It was a beautiful morning this week, releasing the latest batch baby White’s Seahorses into their new hotels amongst the seagrass at Balmoral. White’s seahorses are currently listed as an endangered species & the @sydney_seahorse_project and @projectrestoreau are working hard to restore seagrass and increase seahorse populations. In the meantime, the team has built little underwater seahorse “hotels” where the baby seahorses can stay whilst their habitat is being restored. To learn more visit @syd_marine_science

Zali Stegall Instagram - Royal Far West is a wonderful local charity based in Manly who has been helping country kids access the care they need for almost 100 years. Sadly, the shortage of doctors and other healthcare professionals in regional and remote areas has meant there is a widening gap between the needs of country children and the health services available. And while @royalfarwest helps many country children through telehealth and other services, some of their funding is due to finish shortly which will mean important services such as their natural disaster recovery programs may soon end - and we know these are needed now more than ever so I urge the government to extend the funding for these important programs.

Zali Stegall Instagram - Despite widespread community opposition, BPH Energy and Advent Energy have announced they are pushing ahead with plans to test a large gas target in the PEP 11 area off the NSW coast. The decision around the PEP-11 permit should have been killed off years ago, yet it is still live – keeping concerned communities from Manly to Newcastle in limbo. The PM, when in opposition said he would end it. Scott Morrison, when he was PM tried to end it too. And earlier this year the NSW Government introduced legislation to stop Oil and Gas activities in NSW waters. Like I have said before, this project is like a cockroach that just won’t die. Yet my Stop PEP-11 Forever Bill (🔗 in bio) could put an end to this application and future applications in the PEP-11 area for good. To make PEP-11 dead in the water, the most permanent solution is to support my Stop PEP11 Forever Bill. This would not only put an end to the project now, it would avoid the risk of further litigation and future applications being made within the PEP-11 Zone. White’s seahorses are currently listed as an endangered species & the @sydney_seahorse_project and @projectrestoreau are working hard to restore seagrass and increase seahorse populations. The decision around the PEP-11 permit should have been killed off years ago, yet it is still live – keeping concerned communities from Manly to Newcastle in limbo. The PM, when in opposition said he would end it. Scott Morrison, when he was PM tried to end it too. And earlier this year the NSW Government introduced legislation to stop Oil and Gas activities in NSW waters. Like I have said before, this project is like a cockroach that just won’t die. Yet my Stop PEP-11 Forever Bill (🔗 in bio) could put an end to this application and future applications in the PEP-11 area for good. To make PEP-11 dead in the water, the most permanent solution is to support my Stop PEP11 Forever Bill. This would not only put an end to the project now, it would avoid the risk of further litigation and future applications being made within the PEP-11 Zone.
