Aaron Dessner Instagram - I'm so excited and honored to share that I have contributed to my dear friend and collaborator @taylorswift's brilliant 11th album -- a 31 song double album / anthology called The Tortured Poets Department. We started working on these songs over two years ago and it feels like they have kept us company and evolved in beautiful and unexpected ways through so much life lived during this process. It's hard to believe Taylor and I have now recorded over 60 songs together (17 across this anthology!!) in the 4 years since we began working together on Folklore in 2020. I am forever grateful to Taylor for sharing her insane talents with and trusting me with her music. I believe these songs are some of the most lyrically acute, intricate, vulnerable and cathartic Taylor has ever written and I am continually astonished by her skills as a songwriter and performer.

I also want to thank the incredible @jackantonoff for his open hearted and open door collaboration with me through all these many projects and all of my talented friends who continue to contribute generously to my work. I could never have made all this music without a village of friends supporting me -- especially the engineering talents @heyjonlow @bellaicecream and @sharp_stick and as always my brother @brycedessner made many vital contributions and other friends like @900x @tingalayo @lanzprojects and @mooserob who have helped me so much over the years. Thank you to @serbangheneamixes for mixing these songs and @randymerrill_sterling for mastering. And all of these friends for their amazing contributions: @glennkotche @jt_bates_ @notfastbutslota @lcorchestra @robertamesmusic @jeremymurphymusic @spacemoth__ @beaunoise

It's not lost on me how lucky I am that this is my job and I feel so grateful to be a part of creating this vast, magically detailed and symbolic world of songs Taylor has crafted that we all get to inhabit and enjoy. Keep searching and you'll find some new detail, layer or sliver of meaning with each listen.

Aaron Dessner Instagram - Last night in Nashville I got to play my favorite song @taylorswift and I have written together, “would've could've should've”, at 1:30am in the middle of a giant rainstorm -- while also getting to see the whole show (@phoebebridgers came out to play "nothing new" with Taylor which we all made together!) -- which only ended at 2am due to rain delays. Not sure how I got so lucky to have these experiences on the greatest tour of all time, but I'm so thankful. It's incredibly inspiring to see the dedication and work ethic Taylor, her band, her dancers and her incredible team and crew put into this show. It's truly a mind blowing experience. #TStheErasTour

Aaron Dessner Instagram - Huge Congratulations to my friend @taylorswift on the release of her version of Speak Now… I had the absolute pleasure and honor of producing three vault tracks on the Album with Taylor: Foolish One (Taylor’s Version), When Emma Falls In Love (Taylor’s Version), and Electric Touch (Feat. Fall Out Boy) (Taylor’s Version). I'm so grateful for every opportunity I've had to work with Taylor and I am constantly inspired by the example she is setting for all artists that you have the right to own your own work and chart your own path without compromise. Thanks as always to everyone who contributed to these recordings!

Aaron Dessner Instagram - I had an incredible time re-making songs for #RedTaylorsVersion with @taylorswift -- and it was sooooo much fun watching the super talented @blakelively direct us all in the video for “I Bet You Think About Me". Thanks as always to Taylor for including me and the talented friends who helped us make this recording what it is -- @brycedessner orchestrating the @lcorchestra , @chrisstapleton lending his incredibly soulful voice, @kaufyismynamo and @james_krivchenia helping bring the band to life, and @bellaicecream and @heyjonlow for the engineering / mixing magic.
Aaron Dessner Instagram - I'm so incredibly excited to share that @gracieabrams' second album, The Secret of Us, is out today. I couldn't be more proud of Gracie and this record and all the friends who contributed to it. I feel so grateful for every moment I've gotten to spend with Gracie as a friend and a collaborator over the past four years and three projects we have made. This album captures a profoundly authentic moment of creativity and expression in Gracie's life. It's brimming with confidence and raw emotion and while there are too many highlights to mention, I know many of you will find yourselves listening again and again to "us", which we wrote with our dear mutual friend @taylorswift. It's an earthquake of a song that felt like a synthesis of the entire album and is a testament to their growing friendship and the massive influence Taylor has had on Gracie's writing over the years. They nearly burned Taylor's apartment down writing this song and we had an insanely fun day and night recording it at Long Pond. Thanks also to @jackantonoff for adding his inimitable touch to this song. I was also so thrilled to collaborate with Gracie's brilliant friend @audreyhobert who co-wrote on many of these songs -- Audrey and Gracie bring something special out of each other that was such a joy to watch. Special thanks to my dear friends @boniver @900x @mooserob and @lanzprojects for contributing their magic and to @bellaicecream who has been at my side engineering all three projects for Gracie (and so many more) and who has become an indispensable presence at Long Pond. Thanks to @serbangheneamixes for his incredible mixes, @randymerrill_sterling for mastering and @androidbarr for drums and everyone else who contributed. We are so grateful.

Aaron Dessner Instagram - In addition to the work we did together on folklore and evermore, I recently had the pleasure of helping @taylorswift rediscover and reinterpret some of her past work. As always, it was an honor to be able to collaborate with her....I produced the first unreleased "From the Vault" song Taylor is releasing tonight at midnight eastern -- "You All Over Me" is from Fearless (Taylor's version) and features the incredible @marenmorris on background vocals. I hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed making it!
Aaron Dessner Instagram - My dear friend and collaborator @taylorswift has a brilliant album out today....made with the lovely and incredible @jackantonoff (and I'm sure @sharp_stick was working her magic too) among others....it's innovative, honest, stunning, moving and really fun. There were other special songs in the Midnights ether, beyond the main album's 13 ....I helped to write and produce 4 of those ....The Great War, High Infidelity and Would've Could've Should've ...these songs were released on all platforms as part of the deluxe edition in the 3am chaos last night and another amazing one I made with Taylor and Jack together called Hits Different is available as part of the Target exclusive edition. I love this album and all of the extra songs (some of my favorites we have ever made) and it's an honor as always to be able to contribute and collaborate with Taylor who never ceases to amaze and delight with whatever pen she's writing with. Thanks to #serbanghenea and @heyjonlow for mixes, @900x @brycedessner @postmoderndrummer @lanzprojects (drums on high infidelity!) , @tingalayo @kresnick @kiyukiyukiyuki for contributing brilliantly as always! Go listen!
Aaron Dessner Instagram - Congratulations to @taylorswift on the release of her version of Red... as always I'm so amazed by your courage and determination as an artist and I'm so grateful for our friendship and collaboration. I had the great pleasure of producing four songs on the record with Taylor: Better Man, Run, Nothing New and I Bet You Think About Me. I love each of these songs so much and I'm so thankful to Taylor for trusting me to help do them justice as she reinterprets and reclaims her past. It was also an honor and surreal to get to work with her incredibly talented guests @teddysphotos, @chrisstapleton, and my old tour comrade @phoebebridgers, who each added so much heart to these songs... and once again I had help from many friends, especially my brother @brycedessner who added beautiful orchestration recorded with the @lcorchestra . Thank you @james_krivchenia @kaufyismynamo @kiyukiyukiyuki @bellaicecream @heyjonlow @kresnick lending your talents as always! I hope you enjoy these songs and all of Taylor's version of Red far into the future. #redtaylorsversion
Aaron Dessner Instagram - It has been an incredible journey since Taylor first approached me to write with her. From the moment she wrote Cardigan last April 28th — she unlocked a creative chemistry between us distinct from anything I’d previously experienced, and it led to the creation of two albums in 6 months that are incredibly dear to me — folklore and evermore. Thank you to the Recording Academy for recognizing folklore tonight. Taylor, Jack and I could not be prouder of the work we’ve done together.

Thank you to my family: my beautiful wife Stine for constantly lifting me up with her indomitable spirit and supporting me through all of this, and to my children Ingrid, Robin and Mimi who inspire me every day.

Thank you Jonathan Low, my amazingly talented engineer and mixer who I’ve been fortunate to have working alongside my projects for the past decade.

Thank you Bryce, my loving brother, for your invaluable contributions to folklore — I would never have been able to do any of this without everything I've learned from and with you and your constant support. It is no surprise to anyone that your arrangements elevate the album to what it is.

My dear friend Justin who always picks me up when I feel down and who has given me a confidence in my music that I sometimes lose — your writing, voice and playing are vital parts of both these albums. I cherish our friendship and every single opportunity we have to collaborate.

Thank you so much to Joe for your brilliant writing and collaboration on both folklore and evermore — and for your friendship and spirit which have been a huge part of this unforgettable time.

Thank you to my bandmates in the National who I learned how to write and make records together without compromise — and all the artists I've worked with for giving me the chance to grow and learn from you.

Aaron Dessner Instagram - It felt very nostalgic when @taylorswift visited Long Pond and we pressed record again. I had never played All Too Well but I've listened to it so many times it must have been seered into my musical memory. Somehow this version felt like it was already in the brisk air. It felt so good to play it on the creaky Cardigan piano and Taylor's performance is devastatingly beautiful.

Thanks to @heyjonlow for engineering and staying up all night to mix.

Aaron Dessner Instagram - It's hard to believe we made and released another album in the same year as folklore... and even harder to believe the adventurous little sister evermore is up for Album of the Year at the #grammys , a year after folklore won.

Congrats @taylorswift, William Bowery, @brycedessner @jackantonoff, @heyjonlow, @sharp_stick, @boniver, @haimtheband, @thenational, and everyone else who contributed to the album.

Aaron Dessner Instagram - Still processing....so grateful.
Aaron Dessner Instagram - @gracieabrams first came to write with me at Long Pond almost 2 years ago. Since then we've gathered here several times and written and recorded almost 30 songs together. Working with her has been one of the most natural and effortless collaborations I've ever experienced. Every day I would start a new "sketch", an instrumental idea that I would develop and record. While I was doing this, Gracie would sit on the couch or pace around the room, sometimes directing me if she heard something different, while writing the words and melodies to what I was simultaneously recording. In this way, we often made two or three new songs a day, more than that, we learned to trust each other's instincts and became close friends. I fell in love with every single one we made, empathizing so much with the honesty and poetry of her words and her beautiful and intuitive sense of melody. I'm so incredibly proud of Gracie and the album we have made, "Good Riddance", which comes out on a February 24th, her debut album. The first single, "Where do we go now?" comes out on January 13th. Thanks to all of our amazing collaborators who joined us and I can't WAIT for everyone to hear this record. Collaborators @heyjonlow

Aaron Dessner Instagram - @taylorswift's "Fearless (Taylor's version)" is out everywhere today. I was honored to play a part in helping Taylor reinterpret and reclaim her past. Thank you so much to @marenmorris and @keithurban for lending their incredible voices and @heyjonlow, @kaufyismynamo, @brycedessner, @strangeamerica, @kresnick and @kiyukiyukiyuki for joining us on the two "From The Vault" songs I produced with Taylor: "You All Over Me" and "We Were Happy". Hope you enjoy the entire record!! We had so much fun making these songs.
Aaron Dessner Instagram - I’m so excited to share the first album that @teddysphotos and I have made,
Subtract (-), is out everywhere tonight at midnight. I'm so deeply grateful that I had the chance to make this music with Ed and I couldn't be more proud of it. There's relief that comes after deep sorrow, and I hope you'll feel that listening to these songs. Thank you Ed for trusting me to be your partner on this journey and allowing yourself to be vulnerable and to take risks. We had so much help in making this record, first and foremost from @heyjonlow who engineered and mixed the record. And my brother @brycedessner and @mooserob who helped compose beautiful arrangements. The incredible @900x, @tingalayo, @jt_bates_ and @lanzprojects appear on many songs. I hope you enjoy Subtract as much as I do. Ed and I have continued to make music and I'm excited to share what comes next also.

Aaron Dessner Instagram - I was introduced to @teddysphotos through @taylorswift when I helped produce their song "Run" for Taylor's Version of Red last year. It was special for me to hear two old friends singing together and bringing the past to life -- and an interesting way to meet someone, working on music remotely first before actually meeting in person. Some time later we met up in New York City for dinner and talked at length about music and life. It felt so relaxed and as if we already knew each other. Thinking about Ed's music, I realized I was hearing things in my head I thought we could explore, musical ideas that would allow for more space and bring out what I admire about his guitar playing and incredible voice. I spent some time sketching these ideas and shared a folder with Ed. A few months later in the winter of 2021, he started writing to them and sending sometimes multiple song ideas a day, inspired by a very difficult period he was going through in his life. I could really empathize with what he was feeling and was eager to help realize these songs.

We then met up to work in England at the beginning of 2022 and finished over 30 songs together in a week. I'm so excited to share that 14 of the songs we made in that time comprise Ed's 6th album, "subtract", which will Be released on May 5th. I couldn't be more proud of this record and the vulnerability and honesty Ed showed in making these songs with me. There's something deeply vulnerable and ultimately cathartic and therapeutic about shifting sadness and pain and anxiety into music, transforming darkness into light in this way and sharing these sentiments with others. This is what "subtract" does so beautifully and I can't wait for you all to hear it. Thanks so much to Ed for trusting me to help him on his journey as an artist. I continue feel so grateful to have the opportunity to make music with so many friends, new and old, and to experience the way community grows and grows.

Aaron Dessner Instagram - Gracie (@gracieabrams) first came to work with me at Long Pond two years ago and since then we have gathered many times, growing to be close friends (this picture makes me imagine we are almost like siblings) and writing multiple songs a day together. It's been one of the most natural and prolific collaborations of my career -- the tonality of music I would sketch each day somehow served as an ideal home for Gracie's introspective lyricism and sense of melody...she showed such courage allowing herself to be vulnerable and writing songs that are at turns minimalist and fragile, forceful and cathartic and where the music is allowed to breathe.

Twelve of these make up her debut album, "Good Riddance", which is out today. I couldn't be more proud of Gracie and this record and I hope you will make this music part of your life the way I have.

Thanks to all our friends who contributed so beautifully to this music.

Aaron Dessner Instagram - I'm so excited to share that a very special song called "Boat" that I wrote and produced with @teddysphotos is out today. Boat was the first song that Ed and I wrote for his new album - (subtract) that comes out May 5th. I'm so proud of Ed for allowing himself to be vulnerable and write about his emotions in facing loss and illness in those closest to him. I have long felt that shifting life's challenges and sadness into catharsis through music makes you feel better. I stumbled upon this when I was young and struggling myself. It's how I learned to make meaningful music, which somehow became my career. This song is a beautiful representation of the entire album thematically and sonically. I couldn't be more proud of it and of Ed and I can't wait for you to hear the whole thing. Thanks to @mooserob for beautiful strings and @heyjonjow for amazing engineering and mixing as always.

Aaron Dessner Instagram - I’m absolutely thrilled to announce the release of the 2nd @bigredmachineadjv record: How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? is out August 27 on @37d03d / @jagjaguwar.

I’ve spent a large part of the last 3 years working on these songs with Justin & many friends. The process of making this music & struggling to find & finish these ideas has inspired & forced me to grow in ways I didn’t know I was capable of. These songs are connected by emotional threads, especially nostalgia for the innocence of childhood before mistakes have been made & relationships have faltered & the feeling of investigating the past in search of a remedy.

I’ve had so much help & input from a growing family of artists — I could never have made this record without every one of them.

@blobtower's been the best wingman & friend I could ever wish for — pushing me to keep going when I hit a wall or felt like giving up. @taylorswift taught me so much in the wildly creative year we had & has been so supportive in encouraging me to finish this record. @heyjonlow has been there every step of the way elevating every sound that I make & helping me steer through the fog. My brother @brycedessner for his constant musical & brotherly presence.

The photo on the cover of the record shows my brother, sister & I visiting our great grandmother Stella in her nursing home in 1980. Grams was born in Cincinnati in 1889 & worked in a wig factory in Over-the-Rhine. She was the first person we lost & somehow it felt fitting to put her, and us, on the cover.

I need to thank everyone who contributed to this album in some way — it’s very special & wouldn’t have been possible without all of you.

Aaron Dessner Instagram - I've had some of my favorite days as a musician making songs with @gracieabrams at Long Pond this year ....four of which (Rockland, Camden, Augusta and Hard to Sleep) are out today as part of her latest project, "this is what it feels like". These songs came so naturally to us...as if they were already in the air and we just had to press record. My favorite recordings are when the listener can almost feel like they're in the same room with the musicians, hearing the creaks in the piano or someone's voice break. These songs have that intimacy and vulnerability. I'm so thankful our paths crossed and can't wait to share more music Gracie and I have made. Thanks to my brother @brycedessner for contributing so beautifully to these songs, @bellaicecream for her brilliant engineering and presence and @heyjonlow for seeing through the mix. And thanks to @lanzprojects @james_krivchenia and @900x for sprinkling extra magic. Also, Gracie won over the long pond regulars with her soccer skills :)

Aaron Dessner Instagram - This is what Bryce (on the right) and I look like every morning on tour when we stumble out of the tour bus to look for food in a new city. Our friend @grahammacindoe has been taking photos of @thenational for over 20 years....through our collective ups and downs....and has collaborated with the band on a beautiful book of his photography called "Light Years" that's available for pre order now...supplies are limited so grab it if you're interested!.....I get emotional looking through graham's photos and thinking about all the miles we've traveled and music we've made. Aaron Dessner - 442.8K Likes - I'm so excited and honored to share that I have contributed to my dear friend and collaborator @taylorswift's brilliant 11th album -- a 31 song double album / anthology called The Tortured Poets Department.

Aaron Dessner - 376.6K Likes - Last night in Nashville I got to play my favorite song @taylorswift and I have written together, “would've could've should've”, at 1:30am in the middle of a giant rainstorm -- while also getting to see the whole show (@phoebebridgers came out to play "nothing new" with Taylor which we all made together!) -- which only ended at 2am due to rain delays.

Aaron Dessner - 268.2K Likes - Huge Congratulations to my friend @taylorswift on the release of her version of Speak Now… I had the absolute pleasure and honor of producing three vault tracks on the Album with Taylor: Foolish One (Taylor’s Version), When Emma Falls In Love (Taylor’s Version), and Electric Touch (Feat.

Aaron Dessner - 161.5K Likes - I'm so incredibly excited to share that @gracieabrams' second album, The Secret of Us, is out today.

They nearly burned Taylor’s apartment down writing this song and we had an insanely fun day and night recording it at Long Pond. Thanks also to @jackantonoff for adding his inimitable touch to this song. I was also so thrilled to collaborate with Gracie’s brilliant friend @audreyhobert who co-wrote on many of these songs — Audrey and Gracie bring something special out of each other that was such a joy to watch. @heyjonlow @brycebordone @spacemoth__ @beaunoise @sharp_stick @olijacobs1 @bradbarr216 @kresnick

Aaron Dessner - 161.5K Likes - I'm so incredibly excited to share that @gracieabrams' second album, The Secret of Us, is out today. Aaron Dessner - 109.5K Likes - In addition to the work we did together on folklore and evermore, I recently had the pleasure of helping @taylorswift rediscover and reinterpret some of her past work.

Aaron Dessner - 108.8K Likes - My dear friend and collaborator @taylorswift has a brilliant album out today....made with the lovely and incredible @jackantonoff (and I'm sure @sharp_stick was working her magic too) among others....it's innovative, honest, stunning, moving and really fun. Go listen!

Aaron Dessner - 104.5K Likes - Congratulations to @taylorswift on the release of her version of Red... as always I'm so amazed by your courage and determination as an artist and I'm so grateful for our friendship and collaboration.

Aaron Dessner - 104.4K Likes - It has been an incredible journey since Taylor first approached me to write with her.

Aaron Dessner - 99.6K Likes - It felt very nostalgic when @taylorswift visited Long Pond and we pressed record again.

It felt so good to play it on the creaky Cardigan piano and Taylor’s performance is devastatingly beautiful. Thanks to @heyjonlow for engineering and staying up all night to mix. Listen to Taylor’s #AllTooWellSadGirlAutumnVersion at the link in my bio.

Congrats @taylorswift, William Bowery, @brycedessner @jackantonoff, @heyjonlow, @sharp_stick, @boniver, @haimtheband, @thenational, and everyone else who contributed to the album.

Aaron Dessner - 68.3K Likes - @gracieabrams first came to write with me at Long Pond almost 2 years ago.

Aaron Dessner - 65.5K Likes - I was introduced to @teddysphotos through @taylorswift when I helped produce their song "Run" for Taylor's Version of Red last year.

Aaron Dessner - 65.5K Likes - I was introduced to @teddysphotos through @taylorswift when I helped produce their song "Run" for Taylor's Version of Red last year.

Aaron Dessner - 61.4K Likes - Gracie (@gracieabrams) first came to work with me at Long Pond two years ago and since then we have gathered many times, growing to be close friends (this picture makes me imagine we are almost like siblings) and writing multiple songs a day together.

Aaron Dessner - 48.2K Likes - So the rumors were true🤪We made two albums at the same time -- "Laugh Track", the wilder cousin of Frankenstein -- is out everywhere today digitally and you can pre-order the vinyl online. Thanks to @boniver @phoebebridgers and @rosannecash for joining us on this record which has some of my favorite songs we have ever made. We are also having an absolute blast on tour these days (we played 76 different songs on the last tour run!?) -- so we decided to add a bunch more shows next year. The first to be announced are in Australia with our friends @fleetfoxes and @anniehamiltn in Feb/March next year. And we will see all of you who live in Europe and the UK very soon!! Thank you as always for listening!!

Aaron Dessner - 40.3K Likes - I'm so excited to share that a very special song called "Boat" that I wrote and produced with @teddysphotos is out today.

Aaron Dessner - 35.8K Likes - I’m absolutely thrilled to announce the release of the 2nd @bigredmachineadjv record: How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? is out August 27 on @37d03d / @jagjaguwar.

I need to thank everyone who contributed to this album in some way — it’s very special & wouldn’t have been possible without all of you. @anaismitchell @andrewbroder @arsononly @benhoward @bradleywcook @dnelnelson @drummergloves @grahamtlbrtfoto @grantmanship @ilsey @james_krivchenia @jasontreuting @jess_dess @jt_bates_ @kresnick @laforceband @lanzprojects @lisahannigan @messina_chris @michaelbrowndesign @mybrightestdiamond @naeemjuwan @nicriegel @nxlloyd (more in comments) #howlongdoyouthinkitsgonnalast

Aaron Dessner - 35.8K Likes - I’m absolutely thrilled to announce the release of the 2nd @bigredmachineadjv record: How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last? is out August 27 on @37d03d / @jagjaguwar.

Aaron Dessner - 34.1K Likes - I've had some of my favorite days as a musician making songs with @gracieabrams at Long Pond this year ....four of which (Rockland, Camden, Augusta and Hard to Sleep) are out today as part of her latest project, "this is what it feels like".

Aaron Dessner - 33.7K Likes - This is what Bryce (on the right) and I look like every morning on tour when we stumble out of the tour bus to look for food in a new city.
