Birthday pics from years past. Thanks to all the friends, family and fans who sent such kind wishes. This has been a hell of a year, can 2024/25 get better? I sure as sh*t hope so! Usually I try to share some wisdom from the year that I’ve gleaned but I’m a little numb from the last 5 weeks. My kid came home. Joyous doesn’t begin to describe how that feels. So grateful. On the flip side I lost a friend very suddenly which reminded me how precious life is and how we take our relationships for granted. All of them. My Yoda, the man who taught me how to live my life for the last 32 plus years and be a functioning member of society is in the hospital and could use some collective good mojo thrown out into the universe in his direction. If you feel so inclined send some love in my friend Jim’s direction. Life is fired at point blank range. It turns on a dime in milliseconds. Learning to be grateful for what we have, growing comfortable with navigating the unknown (which is ALL of life btw), becoming fearless in all things, while at the same time being of maximum use to others is what it’s all about. Stay awesome everyone.

This is my favorite crab cake recipe. It’s a true Baltimore-style country club crab cake, without filler ingredients. This dish features the best of summer flavors with corn, tomatoes, fresh garden peppers, and these deliciously buoyant spinach and ricotta gnudi. I searched long and hard for the perfect Key lime pie recipe, and finally got THE ONE from a Miami fireman while filming in Florida years ago. The ratios are spot on and the custard turns out perfectly every time. For the custard, I like to use: 1 and 1/4 cups fresh Key lime juice Two 14-ounce cans sweetened condensed milk 8 large egg yolks And a pinch of kosher salt
This grandma-style creamy coleslaw is inspired by the recipe my mother always made when I was a child. For me, it’s perfectly balanced, tangy with hint of sweetness, crunchy and vegetal. Salting the cabbage forces it to expel some of its moisture, which results in an ideal texture that’s tender yet retains a nice crunch. Trust me, it’s worth the extra step. Garides saganaki is a classic Greek dish of shrimp, tomatoes, onion and feta. Cooked under the broiler, this bubbling one-pot dish is so easy and a perfect way to utilize August tomatoes in your garden or from the farmers market!
