The AANHPI community holds incredible potential to be influential in this election…you might personally know fiscally conservative Asian Americans who are inclined to vote Red. But some of these might be able to be flipped if they can be made aware of this new energy taking over. Because there is a bigger picture to sell. Some swing state elections come down to VERY FEW VOTES. SO YES, it is worth knocking on every door and calling every phone. Tonight we will mobilize as the specific community made up of many culturally unique nationalities, who together can make an incredible impact, that we have always been. It is so important that we participate. If you have questions or doubts, please do ask and express them. Communication and fact sharing are crucial. Please join and/or share to spread the word whenever and wherever it feels right if you are so inclined.

I realize now that what’s unique about this brand is (I believe) this #kimchee must actually be fermented in its individual jars, as opposed to being fermented in a big vat and *then* jarred. My buddy @crescenzonotarile, who was the incredible Director Of Photography for most of the run of @gothamonfox just sent me this portrait he created from BTS shots he took on set. What good times and wonderful artists on that show. Crescenzo Notarile is a true creative phenom and a huge reason for Gotham’s sumptuous reputation, and therefore its success. Costume designer was @jhnglsr #JohnGlaser, one of the great costume designers; had a blast with him, as well as associate designer @patrickswiley and finally styled meticulously by @lily.chick #MarinkaLelchuk Really fun memories of a show that had top of the line artists who gave it its fabulous visual identity. Thank you Crescenzo for your friendship and mad skills.

So rare that I get to see #chosenfamily @huzdatgirl @wilsonburtle & @anastasiabarzee, so we had a special meal, and we’re all grateful we could. @testkitchen’s Spaghetti with Scallops, Lemon & Basil is a real house fav, it never disappoints, I make this on special occasions for special people (like my mother-in-law!). Not sure why the #Parmesan got left off the title of this recipe, cause it is an absolute plot point and always turns in a nominate-able performance in the ensemble. For this incarnation we went for #bucatini, which was a great call. The basil and garlic came from the garden of @growmesomeveg and @huzdatgirl! I also made the legendary Greens and Sherry Vinaigrette from @viacarota thanks to @nytimes #cooking. WARNING: This is a happy place. Please no snarky comments about my kitchen, how messy it is, what a sloppy cook I might be or all the things you’d do differently, your seafood allergy, seafood aversion, or thoughts on seafood rights, or *anything* un-supportive! This is not a Social Media Democracy. Everybody is not automatically entitled un-constructive or un-neighborly behavior! Even if you’re annoyed! Sorry if you’re annoyed, btw. LISTEN UP. Today I was supposed to work out & could barely tear myself outta bed. Who knows why but I do know I’m bummed out about stuff I THINK I can’t control. I signed up to work on the campaign of the presidential candidate I’m behind, & my first trip was cancelled in light of recent events. I had to FORCE myself to go for my regular run. I run across the Brooklyn Bridge three X a week schedule permitting. I was late for my training appointment with @robmorea at @greatjonesfitness but I forced myself to stay & lift myself, which is rare. The endorphins kicked in & now I’m myself again. I got my haircut & buzzed most of it off for the rest of the summer. I walked away with a new outlook. If you don’t like a situation you’re in right now, then you owe it to yourself to fight like hell to change it. It’s simple as that. Many of us, maybe most of us, were taught that fighting’s unpleasant, that it’s ugly, wrong. But name me a figure you love in all of history who’s fight for what she believed in wasn’t heroic or didn’t inspire you; wasn’t RIGHT. Many have momentarily forgotten that there’s a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE between fighting for your life & fighting dirty – you need not fight dirty to win, BUT YOU MUST FIGHT. We’re above fighting dirty so we fail, yes FAIL, to FIGHT AT ALL. I think the ACCEPTANCE of that failure is as unconscionable, as egregious, as that thing we so desperately need to vanquish. I’m no great voice, no great leader, but I’m telling you: Go out there, put on your grown up pants, & dammit if you aren’t fighting EVERY MOMENT for what you believe in, if you’re in bed on your phone complaining about how things are, then you’lll have no one to blame in the end when you don’t get what you want. Look at your team. Assess your strengths. Are you on a team dedicated to justice, a team that holds justice in it’s beating heart, a team that will put goodness before self serving interests? Does your team have what it takes to prevail? You bet your terrified ass it does. Stop talking about your supposed weakness. Play to your POWER. The FIGHT is as much yours to win as anybody’s. FLIP YOUR MIND RIGHT TF NOW BITCHES. STAND TF UP. Put me in, coach.
