Scenes from yesterday at UNC where I was invited by our chapter of March for our lives to come and speak following the shooting there. One of the hardest things about yesterday was how many people I met years ago when I started working in March For Our Lives Who are still doing the work. When working in a social movement and the issue persists it can can be easy to think what’s broken is the movement but I’ve come to realize it’s not the movement that’s broken- it’s our government and our democracy that has been corrupted and bought off but it’s a tyrannical minority of lobbyists special interests and corporations who have used Republicans to gerrymander their way into power. If we want to address that we have to get to work now not just working on the outside with groups like march for our lives but also on the inside with groups like Leaders We Deserve Photo credit for last three photos: @tu.josh

ITS TIME FOR TIM!!!! SO FUCKING HAPPY
met Dolores Huerta today she’s so bad ass and a huge inspiration. I asked her what her best advice for making change and she said you have to make people truly believe they do have the power to create change. She’s totally right because that’s what her work has shown me.
@davidmileshogg tells Joy Reid: “Everybody in America knows somebody like Tim Walz. He’s the guy who is always there to help you, whether it’s changing your oil, whether it’s fixing a lawn mower, or whether it’s helping fix our democracy.” Watch more: MSNBC.com/Joy #news #politics #political #msnbc #joyreid #reiders #davidhogg #kamalaharris #timwalz #democrats #2024election #voters #youngvoters
Imagine giving $180M to someone who humiliated you like this.
If you need more than 10 rounds to hit something you need more range time or you need glasses, not a larger magazine. Hell, if you’re that bad of a shot you’re safer with a baseball bat because a gun will probably be turned on you. Especially if you are shooting a rifle and you can’t hit what you are aiming for in 10 rounds you need to check your sights, check your eye dominance, and/or improve trigger pull. 30 round mags are for two two things, war and people who don’t know how to shoot. I know many who follow me haven’t shot guns or semi automatic rifles before. Even with zero training I could shoot a pretty tight grouping at 20 yards. Just look. You don’t need 30 round mags. If you can’t stop whatever you need to with 10 7.62 rounds. You got bigger problems. Also need more rounds? Reload. The reality is mags over 10 rounds are the choice of mass shooters you know why? Because they aren’t acting defensively they are acting offensively to murder people. Smaller mags give by standers a better chance to stop the shooter as they reload. For the record I wasn’t using a bipod for this either. That’s why I say this. I did this well with zero experience shooting semi auto rifles. Surely you can be a better shot than David Hogg. There are other rounds rifles are chambered for its just in this case I was shooting a rifle chambered in 7.62. I know this makes some uncomfortable but I feel the need to know all I can about how to stop this and to talk to everyone including those who don’t agree.
It’s Tim!!!
Gov Tim Walz gave an incredible speech last year on guns. He would be an incredible VP. “When I first started in Congress I had an A rating from the NRA. I have straight Fs now and you know what? I sleep just fine at night”
Tim Walz is the mid-western dad we need as VP

President Biden’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act requires enhanced background checks before any sale or transfer of a firearm by a licensed dealer to a person under the age of 21. These enhanced checks have stopped 776 sales of firearms to individuals under age 21 who are prohibited from purchasing firearms—a 25% increase in the number of firearm background check denials to individuals under age 21.
