Far-right violence hasn’t come out of nowhere. It is the result of anti-migrant rhetoric from mainstream politicians who scapegoat refugees. We are an anti-racist movement that believes in a more inclusive world. We defeated the far right before. We will defeat them again.
When politicians demonise migrants, the far right listen. When they say refugees should be “sent back to where they came from”, the far right listen. When they complain about asylum seekers staying in hotels, the far right listen. Let’s promote a message of unity instead. One that tackles the issues facing us all: the housing crisis, the collapse of our NHS and the disaster of privatisation. One that gives hope to all communities that a fairer society is possible. Stand up to racism. Defend refugees. Inspire belief in a better world. That is how you defeat the far right once and for all.

Jeremy Corbyn has said the UK is supplying arms being “used to kill wholly innocent Palestinian people”. Speaking to The New Arab in an interview following his re-election as the independent MP for the UK constituency of Islington North, he said the « tragedy of Gaza » should be met with a halt to arms supplies to Israel. Israel’s war on the Palestinian enclave has so far killed almost 40,000 people and injured more than 90,000. The International Court of Justice recently found that Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza was illegal. Corbyn said for the war to be « over tomorrow », Israeli forces and the settlements would have to be withdrawn from the West Bank.
