On this special day I’m pleased to reveal this painting I did for my upcoming book called ‘Appendicitis’, a condition where a useless organ becomes inflamed due to a huge build up of toxic bacteria, which if left untreated ultimately destroys the organ and eventually everything around it. Entirely unrelated: the result of the North East Somerset seat, currently held by Jacob Rees-Mogg, is expected around 4:30am on 5th July, which just so happens to be my birthday. VOTE 🗳️

Very happy to announce a project I’ve been working on for the last year. Behold, The Joe Lycett Slags Vase! An appallingly amateur vase I made after a couple of white wines which has now been painstakingly recreated by hand by @duchesschina1888 in Stoke on Trent in collaboration with @theymadethistagram. Duchess China are one of the last remaining British potteries who have been creating ceramics for over 135 years, working with the likes of Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, the House of Commons and the King of bloody England. But now they’ve stooped to making a handmade vase for me with the word ‘slag’ on it. The fully recyclable packaging was produced locally by Pelican, with box design by Rob Wilson. Curation and production by They Made This. This is a limited edition run of 250, with a certificate of authenticity included for your reassurance and pleasure. All the money I make from it will go to the brilliant charity @artsemergency. They go on sale on Saturday 27th July 2024 to my mailing list. Sign up at joelycett.com, link in bio

Back in October last year I went along to @duchesschina1888 in Stoke-on-Trent to see how they were getting on with the Slags Vase. It’s a very special sprawling place, steeped in history and so much love for ceramics and their production. I was fortune to meet Gordon who is their master modeller, whose job it was to measure up my original piece-of-shit design and recreate it in bone china. I’d like to apologise to Gordon for making him stoop so low as to recreate my vase. I also got to see their production line and some of the other work they do for the royals, amongst others, and make a mug, which I’m pretty sure I watched someone immediately put into a bin. It was a total delight working with Gordon, Jason and the team on this project, all beautifully coordinated by @theymadethistagram The limited edition vases (only 250 made) go on sale to my mailing list tomorrow morning and all the money I make from the sales will go to @artsemergency. A few months ago I asked @daniel_pow to make me a website and the dude absolutely smashed it out the park. It’s properly launched now and is the place for all my latest bits, links to gigs, artworks, films, and more, and if you drag the clam on the homepage onto the art hole book you get to play the CLAM SLAM game. Have a looky over at joelycett.com
