Our Los Angeles Latino Giving Circle and @Latinocommfdn staff met with @mayorofla yesterday to discuss Los Angeles’ high-priority issues and explore various ways we can give back to LA. Over the years, our Los Angeles Latino Giving Circle has found ways to give beyond the dollar by advocating for policies that foster a stronger community. Our meeting was the perfect opportunity to dive deeper into the needs of our communities. 🏡 Mayor Karen Bass, thank you for taking the time to meet with us as we prepare for our Latino Giving Circle Network Grant Nights. Your insights will help us continue to use our collective power to create meaningful change! Since the inception of our Los Angeles Latino Giving Circle, our members have invested over $400,000 to Latino-led nonprofit organizations across Los Angeles! We look forward to continuing to support organizations at the forefront of community-driven solutions. Interested in joining a group of civically engaged philanthropists? 🌟LCF Team Member Spotlight🌟: Diana Otero is our talented Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships & Innovation who leads with her heart bringing care and an impeccable attention to detail to all of the special campaigns and key programs she leads at LCF. She brings over 20 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector and immigration advocacy which fuels her commitment to supporting leaders and organizations through initiatives like the Latino Nonprofit Accelerator, The Capital Campaign, and one our newest programs Rest is Power which enables organizations to provide their executive leaders with sabbatical to rest and recharge. Diana is also an incredible event organizer who creates beautiful spaces where participants feel loved and welcomed. When Diana first came to the Bay Area from Bogota, Colombia leaving behind her family support network, building new relationships with a local family and the Latino community made her feel safer, supported, and less alone. Her passion for helping everyone feel loved and welcomed into community brought her into the nonprofit sector and is why Diana is so passionate about helping organizations thrive as they support entire communities and making leaders feel safe, seen, and respected to dream big within a place that feels like home. An avid soccer fan, Diana especially roots for teams with Colombian players. She was devasted by the outcome of the Copa America final. In her free time, she serves on the board of the St. Francis Center in Redwood City. She loves singing, dancing salsa, and spending quality time with her husband, son, mom, friends, and Luna, her chocolate labradoodle.💃🏻🇨🇴

The @latinocommfdn values our Latino Power Fund partners at the @hewlett_found and was thrilled to participate in Hewlett’s Racial Justice Learning Series. Our CEO, @juliancastrotx, had the privilege of discussing Latinos in the US with Charmaine Mercer, Chief of Equity and Culture at the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation. We extend our gratitude to the Hewlett Foundation for continuing to dream big and addressing the most pressing issues facing our communities. It is an honor to collaborate with you as you work to address climate change, democracy, education, and racial and gender inequity.
