A year ago, we shared the heart-wrenching news that Paul Reubens, the brilliant visionary behind Pee-wee Herman, had succumbed to cancer. Today, we pause to honor his memory and celebrate the infinite joy and laughter he brought to the world through his extraordinary talent. Paul’s creative spirit lives on in the smiles and memories he inspired, and we will continue to honor his incredible legacy. 🌟 Throwback to the day a star was “born”! 🌟 On this day in 1988, Pee-wee Herman got his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame @hwdwalkoffame, right in front of his favorite toy store @hollywoodtoysandcostumes! At the ceremony, he joked, “Anybody who I stepped on to get to the top can come down here every day after this and step on me!” 😂 If you’re ever in Los Angeles, you can step on, and take a picture with, his star at 6562 Hollywood Boulevard! No doubt you’ve seen that video of Pee-wee bonking Andy Warhol on the head with a squeaky toy hammer. But have you ever watched the longer video it came from? It’s a lot of fun! In 1983, Pee-wee went to New York with a bunch of toys to be filmed for Warhol’s show, “Andy Warhol’s T.V.” One of the most charming parts of the segment is Pee-wee singing his own theme song, “I know you are, but what am I?” Keep in mind that this was two years before he and Francis taunted each other with that phrase back and forth on the big screen.
