Quick technical chat about my workflow for photography in case it helps anybody. In the field, we quickly rename and do metadata with Photo Mechanic. From there, I import everything into a Lightroom Classic Master catalog when I get home. Basically I have every photo I’ve ever taken in there and it all syncs to @lightroom phone and ipad apps through collections feature. Since I’m always traveling, it allows me to edit on the fly and have those edits sync back to the master catalog back home. It seems a little little sluggish on iphone and slow to export compared to the iPad, which is really snappy. Mostly i just play around and share photos quickly for stories/posts and at times I’ll just do little screenshots when I’m in the Lightroom app to speed things up and have it feel more fluid. It’s pretty cool to have access to everything from anywhere just as long as I have service and has saved me so many times. Other than that i’m letting Google Photos back up my camera roll…. Back in the @expedition-studios we have servers (over a petabyte online) that @rudy.le build and tape robot backing up to digital tape that @kael.vb is managing. I’m sure there are better ways, but I am pretty locked into this since I’ve committed to an insane master catalog of well over 1 million images 🙈😆 Anyways these are some more photos from the north side of Chomolungma (Everest) and a quick screen record of my phone which is how I pulled them on the road. This isn’t a paid post or anything just wanted to have a little conversation about workflow 🤓🤓🤓 @natgeo #sonyalpha @thenorthface

The assignment within the assignment. For the “Last Honey Hunter” which was my first still assignment I had talked with master editor @sadiequarrier about ways not just to capture the honey hunting action but also a sense of place of the small village of Saadi below the Himalaya in remote eastern Nepal. One concept was trying to shoot every single member of the village at 85mm on the same backdrop for a big grid that would fold out in the magazine. They never made the final cut, but nevertheless it was a really cool to document a slice of life in this way. @expedition.studios @natgeo @jetbutterflies @climber.abiral @taylorfreesolo @ben_knight @irving_matthew #sonyalpha #thelasthoneyhunter
