GWINVINCIBLE! My favorite April Fools joke we did.
Awwww yes. Anissa has finally arrived to the Invincible animated series. This part of the story is from issue 44. From 2007. At this point we were slamming out monthly issues on a consistent basis, Invincible was my everyday life since the first year it debuted in 2003, I took up the mantle as new artist at the end of that year with issue 8. So by 2007 I was a few years in and absolutely loving the script I’m getting from Robert every month. Robert wanted a new Viltrumite lady with short black hair and big boobs 😂, I did the best I could to create a new design and new sea monster creatures to kill. The thing I hated most was drawing that cruise ship, what a pain in the ass! But I figured it out. The thing I didn’t figure out, was female anatomy! I do look back at this old art and wish I studied female anatomy more at the time. I drew boobs like basketballs. Come on, Ottley! Study harder! He’ll get a little better, give him time. 😜 One thing I like about Robert’s scripts was how he wanted me to draw pacing, look at the last pic here, Anissa punches Mark, next panel Mark is super far away from the zoomed out island and Anissa is already caught up. He wanted me to portray Viltrumite speed and strength in this way, and it worked great! I also love the changes from the comic to the show. Having Amber there instead of Debbie was a good idea to tie things together quicker. I love that Robert is using the show as a second draft and tightening things up. Hope you liked the episode! Finale next week!

Hey! For those that caught a portion of my insta live a little bit ago, sorry! Connection was poor I guess. I’ll try again some other time. Here’s what I was playing with, Mohawk Mark on our new slab sketch cards!

Mad Marcus! @fanexpochicago
Throwback to that time I was on Amazing Spiderman for a couple years. The Trisentinel being taken over by Spidey was quite a fun idea. The full ASM compendium can be purchased still, just remember I did 20 issues total but not in a row since they wanted to release two issues a month, so I still only drew an issue a month, but they were released quickly and so a few artists were used to keep up with 24 issues a year. It was insane. Did I like bi-monthly? Hell no. I won’t ever do that again. I like consistent art. Call me crazy!

Volume 4! Coming soon. The collected editions are the best way to see my older art and watch me flail around trying to get better every issue. Best place to see how we created this universe and all that went into it! New covers for these manga sized volumes are done by the awesome Cory Walker and Dave McCaig!
Some comic creator guy was just newly added to Fan expo Chicago THIS weekend. It’s me. I’m the guy. See you soon, Chicago! 🤩
You wouldn’t like me when I’m Invincible. HULK SMASHHHHHH! @fanexpochicago
Talescria good times!
Munch. Always love drawing our lil kitty, Battle Beast. This is of course from Invincible, it’s spoilery so I just zoomed in. Can’t wait to see this scene in animation. How about you? And I know there will inevitably be questions asking about season 3, I can’t give you a date yet. But it’ll be on time and not split up! They are moving amazingly well, and it’s absolutely my favorite season so far.
Thank you, Portugal! 🇵🇹 @comicconportugaloficial was an amazing con with some of the best hospitality I’ve ever experienced. Thank you to the con organizers for the insanely amazing dinners and get togethers every night. You all were amazing and made us all feel so welcome and at home. And thanks to my awesome con managers at @comicsketchart for setting this trip up and making it happen. Michelle and I want to come back immediately! Someday. ❤️
