*Everyone liked that.* After a long journey, @RyanTuerck | @ToyotaRacing finds victory again in Seattle! His first win since Long Beach 2022, and a leap from 15th to 8th place overall. 🥰 #FormulaD #FormulaDRIFT #FDSEA

Let the feels begin. Last year, I had the honor of taking over as the #TeamNitto photographer for Formula Drift, thanks to my friend @emotiveimage I was passed the torch. I had some big shoes to fill. I wasn’t new to FD, but it felt like being the new kid on the block. The teams were very welcoming, but Ryan Tuerck stood out. He always greeted me with a smile, a high-five, & made time to chat, no matter how his day went. Over my last 13 rounds, I’ve seen all our drivers on the podium, except Tuerck. While I try not to play favorites, Tuerck is genuinely just one of the coolest dudes ever. Yesterday the day felt different—not just for me, but for all the folks on the ground I spoke with. The usual top contenders were out early. Hobson took a gnarly hit on Friday & bowed out. Deane’s team was chasing a clutch issue, & Aasbo was eliminated in the Top 16 after a close battle. Then there was one: Ryan Tuerck. During his Great 8 OMT battle against Odi, Tuerck was initially deemed at fault for a collision—a questionable call. It felt like all hope was lost, but when Odi dropped three tires out at OZ3 during Ryan’s lead run, it led to a second OMT, & Tuerck was back in the fight & won on the 3rd battle! In his battle against Jones, it looked like Jones had issues off the line leaving a gap while Tuerck completed his run flawlessly. Tuerck won & advanced to the finals. In the final battle against 14-year-old Minowa, Minowa suffered electrical problems & had to head to his pits. Although Minowa returned, his car didn’t make it into the lead lane. Race control signaled a no-go, & Tuerck took his victory lap. Yesterday, the drift gods were on Tuerck’s side. This win was especially emotional since Ryan hadn’t won since the first round of the 2022 season. Seeing him pull up in front of the grandstands, taking off his helmet, & sitting in his car, overcome with emotion, it was powerful. His eyes glistened with joy. You can see the raw emotion in the photos. This win meant everything to him, & it was impossible not to feel that. @RyanTuerck showed us what it means to stay focused, keep pushing, & never give up, no matter what. We’re all so proud of you, brother!
