These are a few pictures from a look test we did for an anthology in Tamil. I loved working on this project. We shot this in a small village called jalitthupatty in Salem and I had gone a few days earlier to interact with the ladies there. They mostly did agriculture ( I’d go with them in the morning to pluck arali poo which then goes to the market). The women there were so strong and outspoken. When I’d asked about one of their alcoholic husband , (its not even funny how many women I’ve met working as household help who crib about this issue) their response to it was rendu saaatu saatina adanguvanga ma. These women would make wire koodais and give each other just like that. One of those days when I had a break, I sat with them and learnt the art of making those koodais. Someday I’d like to get these women to sell those in the market. (Now that the koodais have come in fashion.) It is therapeutic like crotchet but extremely time consuming. You know, these are some of the things I’m grateful for. My work takes me to places , meet new people , meet women who inspire me and also a chance to learn new skills. Unfortunately, along with so many other films that are made and never see the light of the day , this one didn’t release either. I really hope it does someday. Thank you @yaazhifilms @balajivembuchelli @karthik_muthukumar @sugitathangavelu @senthuransai @pragadeeswaran.muthukumar @gridaranmkp and everyone else in the team for this wonderful opportunity.

I found these two cuties @priyankav____ @karna_vandana on the sets of shakunthalam and I love them. We had a wonderful but extremely sunny day out in Golconda fort. Priyanka, who was the assistant stylist in the film wanted to try her hand in photography, so our plan was to just go goof around there and click a few pics. That was almost like a 3 in 1 shot. I got to see Golconda fort , she got to use a camera and I got a few pics for Instagram. Vandana who’s really very passionate about styling , managed to help me with some of the accessories I had. She’s definitely a natural at it. Sometimes we get such gems from every project we work on and that’s something I’m very grateful about in this industry. So many new people , so many new things/skills to learn , so many new places to see and lots n lots of experiences. I love it. 🙂 PS : we ended up clicking pics on the iPhone only 😂 cos we realised we have to really understand the camera and exposure settings . Also, weird timings in Golconda. 8:30-5:30. That means neither do we get the early morning nor do we get the evening golden hour.
