You can eye-roll or I’ll eye-roll for you all! But my kids’ home-made birthday cards really are the highlight of my year. On a funny note, Elsie said ‘oh by the way I think I probably spelt ‘bright’ wrong but those silent ‘gh’ words are too confusing for me so I’m sorry about that. ( She’s not wrong!) 😂 I won’t say who the other one is from but you know who you are and you know how much I appreciate you. You don’t need a gang of obsessed internet stalkers finding out where you live and where you work and what you eat for breakfast! Thank you for all your amazing texts and emails and DMs – I feel very humbled by the love. On the electricity note, I still have no official confirmation that we’re NOT being cut off, despite the robot telling me I would receive an email within 24 hours. My phone has created a file named for this photo named ‘Heather’. There are just two pictures of me as Heather. All the rest, it assures me, are ‘Alice’ I seek not to understand. Sometimes we just have to accept the quirks of technology 😂
You know what’s funny about this? Maybe you can guess. It’s kind of hard to tell from the pic though so I’ll just tell. You all know I like talking! Those are two totally different shoes. I know they look similar, but one has a much higher heel than the other, and one has a cut-out at the front. I was trying them both on to see which looked and felt better and then the Uber suddenly arrived and SOMEHOW I managed to get up and go with one of each on? But here’s the thing – I didn’t notice until I got home. And the one on my left foot is almost 2 inches higher than the one on my right. I did a red carpet, then stayed a good couple of hours chatting with people at the event! Boys might not properly appreciate this but most girls will tell you it’s definitely not very normal😂😂

Today, only one of my self-tinted lenses decided to tint. Right up until I was alone on my way back from dropping Elsie. I know. This is the big content you crave. But wait – there’s more! Elsie asked me to challenge her to use her British accent all day at school. Now, both my kids switch accents automatically and immediately whenever they’re not with me or each other ( it’s quite amazing to watch actually – especially when they switch with people on the same room during one conversation!) and nobody at her school even really knows she can do British apart from her close friends who have been to the house and seen it happen live. I can’t honestly imagine she’ll make it through. But we’ll see!

She gives me a huge kiss and hug right at the school gate! ( I would never have let my parents come anywhere near the school gate! 😂) I hope she manages to hold on to that spirit. Also to the spirit that put this outfit together this morning, asking me to cut her leggings into shorts just before we left because there was a hole in the knee! Amazing girl. PS: Pic three is a shameless hair shot. I’ll never get over how gorgeous it is and given my own struggles to ever grow hair past my chin I am also just relieved I didn’t pass it on to either of them! Anyone else have a dog that insists on sleeping UNDER the duvet? Emma naps happily when I am Netflixing in bed but once she clocks me putting down the laptop and settling in to turn the light off she starts flicking up the corner of the duvet with her nose. I lift it up for her and she snuggles all the way in and waits for me to tuck her in. Then, if I turn on the light during the night to go to the bathroom she pokes her head out like this and gives me a ‘what the hell is going on it’s definitely not morning yet’ look. What Elsie and I talked about this morning: why the heck do people go for runs outside when it’s 90F. She has a point. There were many! Whether or not the jeans she’d chosen were a good choice given she has PE today. She decided they would be fine given their loose cut and showed me some moves to boot. Do people look like their dogs sometimes and do the dogs know this? Yes/probably not but no way to find out. Meanwhile I was completely lost in my own thoughts walking back but then my apple watch suddenly decided to yell at me that my pace had changed. It was so unexpected and so frankly loud that I thought it was a person right behind me and physically jumped about a yard and let out a strange noise. Of course there was nobody behind me so I very quickly realized my mistake and tried to resume walking like I hadn’t just jumped into the air and yelled out for completely no reason. This literally at the intersection of Wilshire and Santa Monica which is one of the biggest in LA but with very little foot traffic. Probably about 15-20 cars just waiting for the lights and just me crossing and suddenly jumping. I did feel a bit embarrassed. I wonder what they thought had happened. 🤭🤦♀️🙈
THIS. Because I have been put through hell for the past four years and yet… so many women have come to my aid. Financial, emotional, physical even ( you know who you are – moving out of a house I’d lived in for 17 years in 5 days would have been impossible without you…) I have tried to make a habit of helping people all my life. Not just women, but mostly women. I did it because I love people and love women especially. I never thought that one day I would need so much help myself – not just me but my daughters too. I’m absolutely humbled by how you all came through for me. It’s not over yet, sadly. My eldest just got points taken off her grade for not having the correct supplies on time (because we didn’t have enough funds in the bank to purchase them). My kids haven’t been on vacation in 5 years. I can’t take them to the doctor except for emergencies because we owe a deductible to the pediatrician ( thank you, Dr Sammy, for seeing Ella this morning regardless) But we’re surviving. And it’s really only because of all of you. I don’t want to name you because you’ll get trolled but you know who you are. One day I’ll get to thank you properly. And hopefully return the immense gift you have given us. A, V, R, D, S, O, B, A, M, A, P, K, A, F, C, S, L, S, D, C …. And I’m sure I have forgotten some…. THANK YOU. ❤️

Omg my 10 year old is making arcade games out of cardboard and my heart is melting. She took the first two into school today and has already finished two more! Editing to add this note which may be unpopular.. I have never ever limited their screen time. They have both had complete access from an early age. I told them it was up to them what they did with their free time and I wasn’t going to intervene. I may just be lucky – but neither or my girls has turned out to be a screen zombie. On another note – check out her ‘natural accent’ in this vid and compare it to the one she uses with me ( posted 4 days ago) She is completely American here. Completely British in the last video.
