I’m recovering from some intense surgery (emergency appendectomy!) but wanted to pop back on here to say how happy I am that @kamalaharris chose the nation’s ultimate dad, @timwalz as her running mate. A few things to help you get to know Walz, and combat disinformation about him over the next 90 days: Walz served in the National Guard for 24 years, and was a school teacher for 20 years. As the governor of Minnesota, he’s single handedly passed universal free school meals for children no matter their household income (he is pictured here signing the bill.) He has passed strong labor protections, legalized cannabis, passed strong LGBTQ protections, and paid leave for families and the sick. He’s supported initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition to renewable energy by 2030, and codified reproductive rights in the state of Minnesota. On the economy, he is known for job creation and workforce development, investing in programs that train workers for high-demand industries and support economic growth. He’s committed 1 billion for housing that includes assistance for renters and first time buyers. He’s cut child poverty by a third in the state. There is so much more. Minnesota ranks one of the highest economies in the nation, and that is in large part because of him. Tim Walz is the antidote to the hate and shaming we’ve seen; a person with incredible experience and results who is beloved by so many. Let’s continue to lead with love, compassion, and the good fight and character to disrupt and combat disinformation as it comes, and help others to join us. I believe we can and will do it. 🩷♥️ #harriswalz2024

We have been caught off guard about so many things in the last several years, like Roe being overturned even though many were screaming from the rooftops about the Dobbs decision and what it would clear a path for. I don’t want us to be caught off guard ever again, so I’m sharing this NOW, with the hopes we don’t take anything for granted in November. This was posted by former DOJ attorney Jack E. Smith a few days ago (swipe through the slides to read in full) and while it’s a hypothetical, it is not hyperbole. We have 95 days until Election Day, even less for early voting. I want us to be prepared for what could come next, and to continue to fight for Democracy with vigilance, awareness, love and joy at the center of our resilient hearts. So keep checking your voter registration status, especially if you live in red or swing states. Tell your friends to do the same. Spread the word.

Hey, hot stuff! Yeah, you! Here’s the latest in our series at @themeteor breaking the Project 2025 playbook down into bite-sized, semi-digestible, unseasoned portions. In this episode, we take a closer look at chapter 14 and the Project’s promise to gut the Department of Health and Human Services and penalize any non-“biblically based” family structures (literally, those are the words they use), including LGBTQ families and single parents. Check your voter registration status through the link in @themeteor’s bio. #Project2025 #AsIf
This ain’t your grandma’s CNN anchor! The stakes are higher than they’ve ever been this November—like Snoop Dogg level high—so I’m teaming up with @TheMeteor for a new series that helps explain the connection between Project 2025, the recent Supreme Court rulings, and why my mom is MAD mad. Consider this lib owned AND very concerned for the future of our democracy. Click the link in our bios to make a voting plan and get engaged.
Hey you sexy thing! Just a quick reminder that the election hasn’t happened yet, and we can and WILL beat the guy from Celebrity Apprentice in November, and his megabucks donors by focusing on what they have planned for this country with Project 2025. In the latest episode of our series at @themeteor , we take a deeper look at the Project’s promise to gut the Department of Education—and eliminate other crucial protections for students, especially low-income ones. Check your voter registration through the link in @themeteor’s bio. #Project2025 #WhatKindOfFuckShit
There are still good things happening in the world, despite what keeps us up at night. There was the historic election yesterday in France when citizens turned out en masse to keep an assumed far-right government from power. There was the same thing that happened in the UK. And there was also this interview I did with my friend Eliza Clark at Witch’s Mark, her inspired newsletter on art, storytelling, and life through the lens of the tarot. Currently on vacation together in matching bathing suits and heroic attempts at synchronized swimming in the ocean (you’re welcome, world!) Eli and I had a lot to talk about in this interview which focuses on the meaning of the minor arcana card, Ace of Cups; the moment a creative idea moves from your subconscious to your conscious mind, how to be your sharpest editor, and so much more. Hit the link in my bio to read it. 📸: Eli and I living our best Ace of Cups lives, and last pic, a woman holding a sign at a New Popular Front (NFP) rally on election night in Republique Square in Paris that reads: “My heart is on the left.” #WitchsMark #MatchingBathingSuits #vivalafrance🇫🇷

This is a campaign born out of patriotism of the soul, with all eyes on the promise of not just what America has been but what it can still be. This is about love for our country, our bodies, our very living, not hate for others. This is about the promise of safety, of economic prosperity—real, really real freedom. I’m all the way in for @VP @KamalaHarris who has the guts and the heart and the experience to lead: to continue to heal our economy from the devastation of a global pandemic (how quickly we forget), to fight for our rights, and to call us in from the dangerous chaos that is Trump’s era of fear and disinformation. We are not going back. #Harris2024
Today is the sixth anniversary of the publication of my novel, Any Man. Any Man follows the lives of several men who are assaulted and haunted by a female serial rapist; a holy terror you can’t quite put your finger on who goes by the name Maude and who authorities and the media can’t seem to identify, let alone find. The award-winning audiobook was voiced by a stellar cast, led by actor Ben Foster (pictured in slide 4 in the recording studio) as the main character, Donald Ellis. I don’t think I could explain the book better than Ben once did when he said, “Any Man is a powder-keg story that challenges our deepest fears of bodily violence and identity. It is at once terrifying, heart wrenching, and often sharply humorous. It’s a provocative investigation and interrogation into masculine fear, silent shame and ultimately, healing.” Now, multiple printings later, and as I begin writing a new novel (more on that later), I’m reflecting back on this book and the way it’s continued to find new readers years later. I wrote more about it and shared some behind-the-scenes pictures for our newsletter which you can read at the link in my bio. #AnyManNovel
