“I don’t think its a moral good to know about the suffering of everyone in the world.” @timminchin joins @antoinette_lattouf in this weekend’s episode of @thebriefingpodcast and together they unpack why Tim thinks policing other people’s opinions online is a waste of time, his hate for his phone and the meaning behind his first non-fiction book. You can watch the full chat on YouTube now or listen wherever you get your podcasts.
This year has been heavy. It’s been wild. My heart aches. I’m beginning to lose hope which is not like me. So I’m taking an extended break from work and social media. This is uncomfortable for me and will be a challenge, but it’s necessary to create space and time to rest and heal. You’re of no use to others if you neglect yourself. So this is me putting my oxygen mask on first. Don’t worry, soon enough I’ll be giving CPR to those who don’t even want it. A social media producer will be managing my account and posting content from @theantoinettes_pod and @thebriefingpodcast in my absence (episodes will keep rolling out). There’s a link in my bio if you want to donate to my legal fees in my unfair dismissal case against the ABC. If you have a booking/speaking/media inquiry you can hit the email button on my profile and send a request which will be managed. I won’t be checking emails or messages. At some point I’ll be back and I’ll be OK. In the meantime, look after yourselves and eachother. And don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. 📸 @hughstewart_
I am humbled to accept the inaugural NSW Council for Civil Liberties President’s award for journalism. It is an honour to be acknowledged for my battle to uphold journalism without fear or favour, it’s been a very difficult year given the bullying and silencing of journalists in Australia. I dedicate this award to the journalists who have been murdered doing their jobs. Journalism is not a crime. Systematically killing journalists is a war crime. Gaza is the deadliest place to be a journalist. The past 10 months have been the deadliest period to be a journalist. This award is for the Palestinian journalists who no longer have breath, let alone a voice. Swipe to read my acceptance speech and see the names and faces of the journalists slain.

We came together to celebrate the inimitable human rights lawyer and barrister Jen Robinson. It was soul nourishing to connect with brilliant people doing excellent work in these dark times. Photographers, cartoonists, poets, journalists, lawyers, social change makers – using their craft to inform and entertain while crucially trying to make the world less shit. Cheers to that.

Persisting isn’t always healthy or beneficial so what are the signs that it’s time to quit? One Antoinette gets real about her social media addiction and the other wants to quit caring. The Antoinetes explore the science of stopping — whether it’s calling time on a job, drinking, vaping or even a friendship. Don’t expect inspiring quotes and feel good affirmations, this episode is loaded with realism and laughter as bad habits, complacency and fear of the unknown is traversed. #podcast #podcastclips #podcasthost #femalepodcast #femalepodcasters #quitting
Have you ever found yourself questioning if it’s time to quit? The Antoinettes are talking all about the best things they’ve quit (or didn’t even though they tried 👀) and when you can tell it’s definitely the right decision to quit. #quitting #podcast #podcasthost #femalepodcast #femalepodcaster
Imagining an internet without TikTok feels inconceivable for many. One Antoinette goes into bat for influencers and the other is worried about free speech and political influence As the U.S government’s ultimatum to the Chinese owned platform draws closer, The Antoinettes dance their way through the highs, lows and weird pivots in this journey to ban TikTok. Are there valid security concerns or just questionable moral panics about the social behemoth? Donald Trump has recently joined TikTok, despite attempting to ban it during his presidency. And Biden who wants it gone was also on there trying to woo younger voters. #podcastclips #bantiktok #podcasthosts #femalepodcast #femalepodcasters
Parents everywhere, everyday – “Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with these kids of mine?” #parentingfails #kidsaretheworst #ilovemykidsbut #podcast #podcastclips #femalepodcasters #modernparenting #gentleparenting
Childhood and parenting have radically changed in the past few decades. Far more children today struggle to manage their behaviour and grapple with more poor educational outcomes and more mental health problems than ever before. As a parent is it OK to sometimes ask yourself: Is my kid just plain awful? And how much can parents blame themselves for this? Reflecting on their journeys as mothers and step mothers, The Antoinettes challenge the widely held belief “There are no bad children, only bad parents” because it’s often not as simple as that. #parenting #relatable #parentingquotes #parentinglife #ilovemykidsbut #podcast #podcastclips #podcasthost #parentingpodcast #femalepodcaster

Our first live show was sold out but thankfully we are not sell outs (yet) as we tackled a heap of topics in true Antoinettes style. From managing workplace dramas, to clashing opinions on what change means, and of course a dash of trauma and despair regarding Gaza. Never afraid of a gear change, The Antoinettes also surprised one another with very politically incorrect gifts which left the audience in stitches. And our FANtoinettes in the audience put some tricky questions to us. #podcast #podcastclips #podcasthost #livepodcast #liveshows #femalepodcast #gazagenocide
