An amazing performance by @CelineDion tonight at the @olympics opening ceremony in Paris. In April, Celine said, “I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe… I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!” And she has done it in her own amazing way — the first winner of the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Congratulations to @simonebiles on her incredible victory, winning the all-around Olympic gold medal! I’ve loved watching Simone’s journey over the years. It’s not just her incredible and now record-breaking performance — becoming the most decorated female Olympic gymnast of all time — but how she’s done it and the role model she’s become. After withdrawing from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, she prioritized her physical and mental health and then returned very much on her own terms. That’s a medal-worthy achievement of its own. As she says, “If it’s not your decision, you’re not having fun… If you’re having fun, that’s when the best memories are built.” And congratulations to @sunisalee on her bronze medal in the individual all-around and the entire @usagym team for their amazing performance and well-deserved gold medal.
💜💜💜
Love this from @Steven Bartlett: As he puts it, “Have patience, stop overthinking, and keep watering your seeds.” 💜
Something I’ve found to be very true when I look back at my own life!
“Why not you?” I love this mindset from Noah Lyles, who won gold in the 100-meter final, the closest 100m in Olympic history. “I will tell you that what you have does not define what you can become.” Becoming who we are is a lifelong journey, and as Lyles said, what we are dealing with does not define us. Congratulations @nojo18! #Olympics2024

There’s a great performance-enhancer available to all of us.
Recognizing the warning signs of burnout and taking steps to reduce it is important — something I found out the hard way in 2007 when I collapsed from exhaustion and broke my cheekbone. I talked about this on @erikankullberg’s podcast, @erikataughtme. According to @LinkedIn’s latest Workforce Confidence survey, 41% of U.S. workers report feeling burnout on the job, with project managers and healthcare workers at the top of the list. What strategies do you use to combat burnout in your role? For me, what’s foundational is making sure I get a good night’s sleep because a good day starts the night before.
Have you ever been served a “compliment sandwich” where critical feedback is buried between two pieces of praise? It’s a way of giving feedback that might feel nicer, but it can be ineffective and actually do a disservice to the recipient. It’s why compassionate directness is one of our core values at @Thrive. Often, we feel we have to choose between being direct and being compassionate. But we don’t. Compassion and directness aren’t mutually exclusive — they’re independent qualities that can be nurtured. And when brought together, the sum is greater than the parts. Creating a culture of continuous and honest feedback allows both employees and the company to grow. And as a new @WSJ article explores, it can be especially important for young people finding their way at work.
Do you have 60 seconds? Science shows that we can reset from stress in only 60 seconds. That’s all it takes to move from the sympathetic to parasympathetic nervous system and prevent stress from becoming cumulative. So try this 60-second Reset from @thrive. 🏔️
@Charli_XCX has been dispensing her own brand of wisdom since her pre-brat era, which is good advice even if you don’t suddenly find yourself applying for a very important job, like President of the United States. As Charli says, “on your bad days, give yourself a break because it doesn’t matter that you’re not on your A game all the time.” #Brat

Had an amazing go-to-market kickoff at our offsite at @Thrive Global in NYC. We ended each night with something special to bring the team together: first, the team gathered for dinner at my home, where we were treated to a captivating musical performance by world-renowned pianist and composer @ChadLawson, and day two concluded with team bowling and dinner! Throughout our time together, we focused on some important themes:
Reflecting on new beginnings: Embracing the fresh start each month offers, we entered the new fiscal year with gratitude for our incredible team and our shared commitment to Thrive’s mission.
Emphasizing open communication: We highlighted our core cultural value of using compassionate directness to resolve issues and nurture healthy relationships. The team knows that my door (and phone line) is always open.
Expanding opportunities: Success isn’t just about reaching goals, it’s about building on our momentum. With exciting partnerships on the horizon, we’re poised to scale our impact even more in the coming year.
Gratitude for our team: Each Thriver brings passion and dedication to our mission every day.
I’m excited for another year of growth, collaboration, and thriving together!

Loved being in Indianapolis to connect with @elilillyco employees and have a fireside chat with @jenoleksiw, Global Chief Customer Officer. We talked about the transformative power of AI to both drive better health outcomes by improving daily behaviors and also help us connect to something larger than ourselves. One of Lilly’s core concepts is about helping people “get better.” And by hyper-personalizing behavior change, AI can help us get better by making it easier to adopt better and healthier daily habits around sleep, food, movement, stress management and connection.
There is, of course, a lot of overlap between the science of behavior change and the science of business performance. To tap into our creativity, connect with others at scale, and embrace our energy, we first need to take time to recharge. As Lilly CEO @davearicks has written, “In our always-on work world, our bodies and brains don’t get the regular recovery time they need.” So when you take a break, he said, your company, customers and careers will be better for it.
That’s the idea behind Thrive Reset, a 60-second stress intervention tool in the @Thrive Global platform based on the neuroscience of moving people from the sympathetic to the parasympathetic nervous system. It illustrates the philosophy of Microsteps, how stress is unavoidable, and how we can avoid cumulative stress in 60 seconds — and it’s a tool that will become even more powerful if personalized with AI. I loved sharing my personal Reset and it was moving to see Jen’s, with photos of her family, her favorite quotes and music.
And had such a wonderful dinner at the Indianapolis classic @stelmosteakhouse (loved the shrimp cocktail!) with Jen, Patrik Jönsson, EVP & President of Lilly Diabetes & Obesity, Frank Cunningham, Group VP of Value and Access & Lilly Direct, Margaret “Libby” Driscoll, SVP of Global Commercial Capabilities and Innovation, Julio Gay-Ger, SVP & CMO of Lilly Diabetes, Laurie Kowalevsky, SVP of US Consumer Experience Hub, Ben Basil, SVP, Global Customer Office, and Brent Danner, Associate VP of Value and Access.
