@thedustylizard adventure bike camp out day 2 🦎⛺️🏍️ It takes a special kind of person to ride and camp adventure bikes! You have to learn to ride the bike, buy the bike, care for and maintain the machine, figure out the camping gear, take the time to set up & break down, minimally pack (you can’t take the kitchen sink!), read the map, plan the route or be down to go with the flow (which you’ll have to do anyway), take the time out of your busy life, be ok in solitude and be outgoing to make new friends, & have a hella of a lot of patience, problem solving skills, and spirit for adventure! When I’m feeling down, I throw myself into service to others. I truly believe the best way to get out of your head is to help people. A wise lady once told me you cannot live in self-pity & gratitude at the same time & I’m feeling very guilty of the first transgression! I’ve volunteered a lot with @ascenciaca over the years & they are an amazing non-profit that supplies resources, provides services, & helps families find safe, affordable housing to get back on their feet.
