After a week hidden away with my books, I emerged and shared a novel with someone who sees no return on investment in reading fiction. He prefers the efficiency of movies on Netflix, watched at double speed. While he may have a point, and I understand his perspective, it doesn’t sway my own love for the written word. I’ve always been captivated by the power of words, living vicariously through the characters woven into the pages of the novels I cherish. Perhaps it’s the actress in me, always seeking to fully inhabit another’s life. My latest treasure is ‘Hello Beautiful’ by @annnapolitano. Through Ann’s skillful narrative, I traveled to times and places unknown, yet strangely familiar, meeting souls that felt like old friends. Her prose is deep, yet accessible, stirring emotions of loss and nostalgia as I turned each page. This book has been more than a journey through stories; it has been a moment of introspection, a pause to reflect on who I am and my own family ties.
