I was honoured to be asked by the smart Onkwehonwe folk working at the Roswell Park Department of Indigenous Cancer Health to spread the word about getting pre-screened for cancer.
My Ista had breast cancer and beat it almost ten years ago. Why? Because they caught it early! How? She was getting pre screened! So I am going to be doing the same and encouraging my whole family too.
I just think our people are so damn awesome and it’s a shame when we lose one of our own and it could’ve been easily prevented.
Onkwehonwe people! There are so many resources and people willing to answer any questions you might have, just reach out to your local Indian Health Services Clinic and ask to speak to a cancer focused patient navigator.
