@mcdonalds is launching a new five dollar Meal Deal to lure in diners hungry for value! And it’s better than you might have expected! Hungry folks will have the choice of a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, plus a small order of fries, PLUS a four-piece Chicken McNuggets, and small soft drink. So, yeah, an actual five dollar MEAL! The company has also added a little extra perk for people who order via the McDonald’s APP! It’s called “Free Fries Friday”, and gives people a free medium order of fries with any ONE DOLLAR purchase! The deals come as inflation in general is hitting consumers hard, AND as McDonald’s has faced criticism that it’s become unaffordable to many people. Of course, the deals AREN’T just out of the goodness of McDonald’s’ heart! High prices in general mean people are trying to save by eating at home more, and that’s hitting restaurants like Mickey D’s in the cash registers! Obviously, they’re hoping the specials will bring people back to the Golden Arches. And we’ll soon find out: The five dollar Meal Deals will be available starting June twenty-fifth at participating restaurants. A woman is suing @Netflix claiming she was horrifically defamed by the streamer’s smash miniseries “Baby Reindeer”! Comedian and actor Richard Gadd wrote and starred in the series, which is recounted as a “true story” of his experience being stalked. The stalker is alleged to have sent him tens of thousands of emails and hundreds of hours of voice messages, with her ultimately being sentenced to prison. Gadd called the story “EMOTIONALLY” true, but also said it existed in, quote-unquote, “the sphere of art”, and requested that people NOT try to figure out the people it’s based on. Well, THAT didn’t happen, because you know how the internet is! People soon tagged a woman named Fiona Harvey as the “real life” stalker. She soon went on Piers Morgan’s show and pretty much acknowledged she was the character’s inspiration, but denied actually stalking him, and claimed she’d only sent him a handful of messages. NOW, Harvey says she’s suffering mental anguish, anxiety, nightmares, depression, sickness, and more over the show’s portrayal. And she wants A HUNDRED AND SEVENTY MILLION DOLLARS for it! Netflix has already responded, saying it’ll “defend this matter vigorously” and “stand by Richard Gadd’s right to tell his story”. Sounds like this one will end up in a courtroom, and the testimony is going to be FASCINATING – since several OTHER people have now come forward saying Harvey harassed THEM, including a politician and another comedian. But assuming Fiona Harvey’s telling the truth, how do you feel about so-called “true stories” that dramatically exaggerate those true “facts” to make the story more exciting? @WellsFargo recently fired over a dozen employees for “simulation of keyboard activity,” otherwise known as “fake working”! And the staffers were all part of the firm’s wealth- and investment-management unit, so those aren’t people you want to be faking it! This came to light because of filings made with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and it wasn’t made clear if these infractions were committed by people working from home. It’s worth noting that Wells Fargo now expects most staffers to be in at least three days a week, and more for management. But whether they were pretending to work in the office or at home – or for that matter, maybe at a beach somewhere – this is a definite black eye for the financial institution. Particularly since we were JUST starting to forget the scandal that broke in 2016, when Wells Fargo was discovered to have opened MILLIONS of fake accounts without customer consent!
